How can people bash fans for getting excited watching a training video? What am I supposed to do, go into the future, watch the fight and come back telling you guys how awesome it was? Seriously, the man looks fast as hell. Are you saying mitt work is useless? The mitts don't punch back and they don't move so they must be worthless.
I just put $50 on Pac-Man ko'ing Morales. This video gives me a little more confidence in my wager.
Maybe Hopkins doesnt want to risk losing to the young prospect, knowing full well all he has to do is wait for Trinidad to finish his fight with Winky for a huge payday.
I really can't blame him. Although there really isn't a big chance of Taylor winning, just "easy" money for Hopkins.
Who'd pay to watch Hatton-Corrales? :)
I sure as hell would. I'd be watching two of my favorite three fighters fight each other so I wouldn't be too happy either way. Hatton would get knocked out in my opinion. I also see no reason for Chico to move, he's in an original division. Screw 140.
Hatton can choose to get knocked out by Chico, take a dangerous fight with the winner of Mayweather/Gatti or fight a big name that he should really beat up on. Sounds like Hitman has an easy choice and Cotto should be his next opponent. Harris turned down a fight previously and is not a draw whatsoever so I doubt he'd even be considered.
Who the fuck is voting for Floyd? Damn I swear some people are crazy as hell....
Agreed. Mayweather beat two guys at 140. His success in other weight classes is irrelevant to his ranking in 140. The man standing at the top of the mountain of 140 is clearly Hatton. He beat the man therefore he is the man.
 You've gotta be kidding me. Creatine is a compound of three amino acids. I'm calling Ali the biggest fraud/cheater ever, I hear he took Vitamin C to avoid colds.
Gatti aint getting any younger, I really don't forsee him fighting Harris. Maybe Gatti will look elsewhere such as Judah or Spinks but Harris really wouldn't bring him the cash he's looking for. Then again, should he stay inactive if nothing comes through? As Sactown stated, Harris is high-risk, low reward. No way does Main Event put him across Harris.
I don't think Morales steps in there with MAB with the possibility of going down 3 out of 4 times to a man he hates. Also, why give MAB the big payday? Rematch with Pac.
Trinidad vs Mayorga pulled in 470,000 buys
Morales vs Pacquiao pulled in 350,000 buys
Mind if I ask where you get your info from?
Good to see that Winky showed his skill in front of so many people. Maybe a new draw actually was born during that fight. They can't dodge a man that over half a million people saw dominate, looks like Winky is about to get PAID.
I am not saying that Wright is bad. He is amazing actually. I mean that Wright got that because against Trinidad, a boxer makes a lot of money. Take for example Hopkins. I don't remember what he got in the Trinidad fight, but I think it was a million or more. Then, he was fighting Joppy for 350,000 and that was after dominating Trinidad and stopping him in the 12th. Get my point now?
I got your point initially and it is a damn fine one. Kind of sucks when nobody refutes your point though. :)
Wright got that because he was fighting Trinidad but it also had to do with him being Winky Wright. Do you think Trinidad facing Felix Sturm would have drawn as much? Do you think Sturm would be paid 4 or $5 million to fight Tito? I don't. Wright is now a draw after beating one of the top draws in the sport; one who came off an EXTREMELY impressive fight with Mayorga. Tarver (if he wins) beat a washed up Roy Jones and Glen Coffee in his previous two fights. I don't see how that would net Hopkins much money.
Wright made 5 million because of his opponent. He was not paid because of his achievements or the entertainment he provides. Things could start to be good for Wright now.
He was still paid $4 million (this is what HBO stated on the telecast) for fighting. They could have found Joe Dirt to fight if Tito's opponent was irrelevant. Winky was paid what he was paid because he was a respected fighter that Tito needed to fight.
He just outclassed the biggest 160lb draw in the sport while the other two beat a fading Roy Jones and will fight one another in a fight that won't be PPV. No way does Tarver or Johnson net more money for Hopkins than Winky.
I thought Vargas was staying at 154. I see this as a bad matchup for him. HIGH risk, low reward. No way do I see Vargas winning and I'm sure his camp sees (or doesn't see) that as well.
He can fight winner of Tarver-Johnson for more than that. Thats what he wants to do for his legacy.
What makes you think Tarver or Johnson will give him a higher payday than Winky? Those two fighters combined are being paid what Winky Wright was paid for Saturday.
I like Vargas and I would go for him. The jury is still out on Sturm for me. I cannot judge a fighter on one performance. Buster Douglas sucked but you'd believe otherwise watching him against Tyson that one time. I think Sturm is definitely better than Douglas, but I hope my point is taken.
Did you watch his last fight against Schunk (sp?) You can judge and Sturm over Schunk > Vargas over the last guy he faced whose name escapes me.
Jackhole-Winky will never be the superstar that any of the current top tier fighters are today. Winky is a boxer and is cautious, he is great like Hopkins but will never be embraced because he simply isnt exciting despite him being one of the best.
Those numbers come direct from HBO.
I appreciate the quick response.
Winky is a boxer with talent, clearly an elite boxer. People like watching "the best." Remember this past summer olympics when that swimmer was winning all those medals? People tuned in to watch SWIMMING! He's beating guys that people think he stands no chance against and doing it in front of many many people. He's gaining fans and respect the same way good ol' Hopkins did. Winky will never be Tito, RJJ, Tyson, DLH etc... but niether will Hopkins and it appears Winky is the money draw at 160 if Hopkins loses or Hopkins' ideal opponent money wise if he wins.
Vargas looked average against Ray Joval, but that was after a 15 month layoff. I say that if Vargas ever gets back to where he once was, Sturm will not beat him.
I completely agree with you. Sadly, I don't see Vargas being the Vargas of old in his next fight; I see him being more of the Vargas of new.
The name was Joval, thanks for refreshing my memory.
so ur goin to watch it again
and alreayd made up ur mind on how ur gonna score it?
I saw it last week on PPV (had pac-man winning 8-4 but admitted to seeing it through rose colored glasses) and saw it this week on HBO and gave it 6-6. I'm ok with the decision though, Pac-Man wasn't aggresive enough when he had Morales hurt and that cost him. I just think anyone that thinks the decision would have been a robbery if Pac-Man got the decision is delusional.
Merchant needs to stay. The man knows his stuff and is hilarious to listen to. He also asks questions in post fight interviews that many men would not have the balls to. I love the guy, he's HBO's edge over ShoBox.
King is still bringing the big fights. Lederman, although annoying, is pretty much on the money. Later Mr. Arum. Your time has come.
