I like to look at the future of boxing. Two BIG future stars are Andre Ward and Andre Berto. These two fighters had very impressive amateur careers. In the year 2004, they both fought in the Olympic Games. Andre Ward was the only boxer to win a gold medal from the 04 USA team (at light heavyweight). He was the first one to win the gold for America in 8 years. On the other hand, Berto fought out of his native Haiti. He end up losing his first round fight.
With that being said and where they are right now, who do you think is better right now, and who do you think will have the better career (even though they fight at two different weight classes)?
discuss....

I will make this thread for all the prospects who are not big now, but may end up being major players in boxing one they step up in competition. I think we should update this too for all the new guys that start popping up, so that they can become popular a little bit quicker, so whenever they get a big win or become champions we actually know who they are! Be sure to add some of your own!
Heres a few guys Im keeping an eye out for at the moment...
Eric 'Danger' Fields 11-0-He has only been fighting a short while, but shows a huge amount of natural talent. He became the 2006 National Golden Gloves Champion after only boxing only 18 months! His biggest victory is over former champ Kelvin Davis, who was not in top shape but Fields destroyed him in the 1st round and looked extremely impressive. He reportedly is actually a huge body puncher, something we didnt even get to see in the Davis fight. If he continues to improve at the rate hes going, look for him to be fighting for the Cruiser, or even Heavyweight championship later on.
Fighting 11-0 Ola Afolabi next, who stopped an old Orlin Norris in his last fight

'Vicious' Victor Ortiz 20-1-Only 21 years old, this hard hitting Light Welterweight southpaw already has 21 wins and a long amateur career. In his last fight he knocked out former champ Carlos Maussa, who lasted 9 rounds with Ricky Hatton only two fights before he fought Ortiz. Ortiz knocked him out badly in the first round. Ortiz hasn't been nearly as active this year compared to previous years, but he has a bright future with his young age.

'Mean' Joe Greene 18-0-A rising star in the Middleweight division, he is only 22 years old and seems to have a ton of power in his southpaw stance. He was the 2004 National Golden Gloves Middleweight Champ when he was only about 18. He was recently on the untelevised undercard of Klitschko-Ibragimov, where he used Francisco Mora as a punching bag until the fight was mercifully stopped. Scheduled to fight an unnamed opponent in a month, keep yours eyes out for this guy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_athletes
Felix Strum real name is Adnan Catic and he is Bonsinian orgin.
Danny William I heard before.
one of them is even a Mexician Ahemd Santos ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahmed_Santos) not actully was a good boxer but he is a well known newspaper columnist.
anybody got some story of how they converted to Islam?
John Ruiz :sucks:
arum duped the fans yet again.
What a joke.
He also most likely offered 50-50 as well.
So arum sent mayweather "allegedly" a proposal completely on arum's terms and then alerts the media that floyd has a deadline?
I knew it.
so they agreed to an old ass deal. The one that was on the table last time that they walked away from??? Hilarious.
smh.................
no matter what anyone tries to say...fact is..Mayweather is willing to take the test, whenever and wherever.....Manny is not:nonono:
you say "the" test , as if the commission or some governing body is requesting it.........smh.
WOW.this gay ufc comantotor cuz we all know they are gay.he said the only stars today are de la hoya, kopkins, jermain taylor who were the stars in 2007 floyd was not truely the mega star yet.well look what has hapend since then.floyd mayweather, manny pacquiao, miguel cotto, paul williams, sergio martinez, andre ward, lucian bute man divisons are packed with alot of talent like never ever before back then you only had 2 or 3 great talented fighters in each weight class.look at boxing today the young prospects boxing had a ugly time in mid2000's but at this point boxing has regein its popularity.everyone is talking about the big fights ahead and the prospects.just so you could get an idea of how much boxing keeps growing.here is the video of this gay guy vs lou dibella im sure most of you seen it but just a reminderf how wrong ufc was
never mind the 50 other valid points he made...
article says he did it since the Jan 2001......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Hernandez fight was after that

Garcia is SHOWN in the ring taking off Floyds glovees after the Hernandez fight....................................so if he didnt wrap Floyd's hands, what was his job? to take his gloves off??
.........Imma bump every Floyd nuthugger's thread saying PAC will be easy work for Floyd, and those Flomo dominated "Pac vs Floyd" polls, and then LOL at these garbage threads and their threadstarters for being as stupid as Mayweather Sr....
I agree. If the fight gets made Pac dominates...
http://blog.mlive.com/mayweather/2007/12/mayweatherhatton_in_their_corn.html
this is grand rapids press, these guys are insiders when it comes to the mayweather camp so they def know about whats goin on with floyd, his official news source.

for all of u who follow boxing, floyd hasnt had to use xylocaine for quite some time, becuase rafael gacia is the best in the buisness with his hand wrapps and because of his skills, floyd hasnt gotten any hand injuries in quite some time.
LMAO....................ohh k
it's not an advantage.would u rather floyd pull out of a fight because his hands are hurt? u would rather him fight with broken hands right.if u injury yourself in the fight is 1 thing but if before u even step in the ring your hands are injured there is no point in fighting.do u think if pacquiao had a injured hand he would still fight without any injections?
every fighter has pain in thier hands...PERIOD...wrist's, etc.......Floyd was numbing his.. I dont want to hear it. im sure he numb them when they werent broke.....because he feels pain in them cause hes a fighter, ..every fighter does.........chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizeating if you ask me.
dude, dnt use box rec its unreliable. in the hernandez and corrales fight, garcia wasnt responsible for wrapping floyds hands. it was his uncle that did it. garcia didnt start wrapping his hands until afterwards. since garcia begun wrapping his hands' floyd has not injured them in the ring.

Margaret Goodman is an idiot, I mean he's a former medical advisor for the NSAC (Which set their own rules on numbing agents) and he has the nerve to question if USADA test for them? How stupid is he? Or is he trying to degrade OSDT for his own personal agenda? I'm more surprised at the amount of stupid people that ran with this.
"Both fighters wanted to demonstrate that they fought free of PEDs that night. That was not adequately accomplished, which is a shame for the participants, whom I do believe fought clean."
read that VERRRRRRRY slowly.
thats true, but lidocaine does not fix any of that. it deals with pain. floyd doesnt have pain in his hands when he boxes anymore. he's said so a number of times that when he got garcia, all of his hand issues, as far as the ring is concerend, were dealt with.
he got Garcia in Jan 2001...his fight with Carlos Hernandez was after that AND he admited on that youtube vid being posted around that he infact took a shot in EACH hand in the Hernandez fight....SMH.....lol
"Garcia has been wrapping Mayweather's hands since January of 2001, when he stopped Diego Corrales in the 10th round following five knockdowns. Prior to working with him, Garcia said Mayweather had been wrapping his hands too tightly, had been limiting blood circulation. "

you're an idiot. Margaret Goodman is a SHE. AND if NSAC set there OWN rules, why the hell is the USDA even invloved??? SMH......thats the point!!!
it gives u absolutely no advatage. its actually a disadvantage because it leads to more injury. if u cant feel pain, u dnt kno when something is wrong. ppl like to make something outta nothing. just let them have their fun.
yeah not feeling pain in a fight is a DISADVANTAGE.............SMH.....we are not that stupid....lol
ive read it, what does it prove? it proves my point actually. he didnt wrap his hands for the corrales fight. and he def didnt for the hernandez fight. im 100% certain ur wrong. ill look for an artcle, but i was following his career for a while and it was said on hbo that garcia officially begun wrapping after the hernandez fight. and even floyd has said hes never had trouble since garcia begus wrapping.

Where are all the Williams haters and Martinez lovers?
This proves Paul Williams is the best Jr MW and MW in the world.
dumb......those who were watching it thought he won........
Honestly Pac's biggest wins are Cotto, ODLH and Hatton. He blew up after beating ODLH and Hatton just like Floyd did. In the eyes of the boxing media and most fans these are the biggest names on his resume. He didn't blow up after beating Morales and Barrera and his fights with JMM.
Floyd also beat Hatton and ODLH. He just beat better versions of both. He also beat SSM which matches (but most likely surpasses) Pac's win over Cotto given the circumstances of both wins.
So TBH once the boxing media get off the high they are on...... what has Pac really done that places his legacy above Floyd's??
For arguments sake let's say Pac and Floyd don't fight. 10 years from now when OST is the norm in boxing for all championship fights people are going to wonder why Pac was making such a fuss about it 10 years ago.
If these 2 don't fight in the fulllness of time i am of the view that Floyd's legacy will shine brighter......his dominance has been challenged only once and both men's stardom is owed to victories over common opponents of which the circumstances point to Floyd's being more impressive.
um he was ranked top 3 p4p if not 1 after the Marquez, MAB and Morales fights..
and how did Floyd beat a better version of Hatton ...? LMAO..
no he wouldnt man..expecially not this version of cotto..floyd would beat him badly and steward would probally stop the fight in all honesty
you gotta hurt Cotto to beat him. Floyd cant hurt anyone who fights above 140.....
The first 2 names that come to mind are......
juan manuel lopez and david haye. I'm still a fan of them 2, but every day that goes but i start wondering about these 2 guys is heart...What about some of you guys? Some of us don't defend our fav fighters when they are wrong.
Antonio Margarito!!! lmao...............
nah, but I hope he's given a chance to redeem himself. Meaning fight and beat a top level opponent....knowing now for sure it will be a clean fight.
And had Cotto not pulled that dirty stunt of slamming Clottey on the ground and hurting his knee like that Clottey would've probably won as well. See. It works both ways. I'm not a hardcore Margarito fan, but i think he's a better fighter than Cotto. Always has been, always will be.
lol....clottey fell on his own and was never hurt.. dont forget he headbutted Cotto early in that fight and Cotto had blood in his eye the whole fight....Clotttey would have probaby beat nuthin....
WTF happened to him against Mayorga?
Stylez make fights....when Sergio Mora pressured Forrest in their first fight he pulled off the W..Stay on the outside of Vernons jab and you will lose..
Fighters arent suppose to quit anyway. Can we stop acting like he just pulled a MJ with the flu performance.
Hes not tough. Hes not rough. Hes not rugged. Hes a feather fisted runner who got hurt while running. I appreciate him not quitting though because I wanted to see Cotto KO him.
he fought Cotto which is more than we can say for Joy...
Why does Manny need catchweights?
why does Floyd fight light weights? ....we can go on and on.....
Manny has agreed. make the fight..... 'Im taking a break...." ....lol
