The WBC should mandate a BOX OFF between Vargas and Mayorga w/the winner becoming the mandatory challenger for Javier's belt.
I believe Mayorga would poleax Vargas in the late rounds. Then, surprisngly enough, Castillejo will outbox Mayorga for 12 rounds and become a legit force in the '54 weight class until Ouma takes his belt.
Floyd wins!
I like Mayweather over Zoo by decision. Mayweather is faster than Tsyzu and a better boxer; however, Zoo does have that ONE HITTER QUITTER that could change the fight. But at the end of the day Zoo is getting old and Floyd is in his prime.
Floyd UD Tsyzu
I don't see Hatton giving Kostya too many troubles. If Hatton was a tad more experienced (like had he fought vivian harris or emmanuel burton) then I'd say this fight would probably be close.
I expect Zoo to hammer Hatton. Hatton's defense is POOR. Kostya will not be able to miss Hatton.
Blacksportsonline.net, I'm Filipino, can I go?
LOL! You're more than welcome to, asian sensation. Dont be fooled by the name. The focus of the site may be to report more positive news on african american athletes, but my job as a boxing editor is to report and critique all fighters regardless of color.
Truth be told... Corrales won the first fight fair and square. The mouth-piece issue is irrelavent and whoever uses that as an excuse is simply in denial.
I've seen plenty fighters throw out their mouthpiece and get extra time when hurt. Most recently Acelino Freitas did this when he fought Corrales. Did the extra time help Popo? Nope.
Bottom line: CORRALES KO'D CASTILLO in 10 of the best and most exciting rounds boxing has ever seen.
yeah...this passport guy has his boxing principles twisted. How in the hell can Wright be above Barrera....when M.A.B. holds wins over
Morales
Tapia
Ayala
kelley
Hamed
Mckinney
Sanchez
and a whole host of others.
He must think Tito and Mayorga are the best fighters in the sport. LOL!
Winky being ranked over Barrera is simple, really. Winky just beat one of the hottest and most respected boxers in the sport, in Felix Trinidad. The fight before that he beat another top 10 pound for pound guy (who was coming off a win over de la hoya), Shane Mosley.
Winky dominated two top 10 pound for pound boxers in a little over a year. Come on now! Barrera's CLOSE decision win over Morales was impressive, indeed. But when is Marco gonna avenge that KO LOSS to Pacquiao??
Your list is ok. Pac should have been somewhere there though
Yea, I wish I could have found room for the Pacman. All he needs is one major victory to get back in the top 10. He hasn't actually won a fight in a little while now.
I also wouldn't place Wright above Barrera, or Tszyu.
He can Jab his way to victories all he can, but doesn't make Winky a legitimate P4P #2 fighter.
Yea, but wins over Trinidad and Mosley cannot be denied. Lets also not forget how Winky was robbed when he fought Vargas back in 1999.
Please boxing fans, don't support this crap of a boxing card next time. I don't care how hard up for a fight you may be at the time. Pop in Corrales-Castillo or even Mosley-DLH I.
By supporting these crap cards we give the greedy, money hungry promoters reasons to keep putting crap like this on PPV.
These fights should have been a SHOWTIME triple header. PPV? 39.99? I don't think so.
How could winky have defeated a "hot" fighter....when Tito's first victory after a long layoff was a blown up 1 dimmensional welterweight.
you are looking more, and more retarded man.
Just say you think he is one of the best.....dont give a b.s. reasoning behind his credibility....when:
De La Hoya should be ranked way higher than trinidad as far as your "hot" ratings go. That is insulting to people here.
I'm guessing you're under the age of 18. Anyhow, you don't speak for anyone but yourself. I'm sure the people who post on this board don't want you representing them in any fashion.
And Tito beating Mayorga was ten times more impressive than De La Hoya QUITTING against Hopkins after getting hit with a grazing body shot. Give me a break.
Phillips by decision. Quartey is rusty as hell right now, plus he was always a bit robotic. Fernando Vargas ruffed him up and beat him down, easily.
Phillips will dominate Ike...
Youth will be served when Taylor steps into the ring to fight Hopkins. I think Taylor represents the next great African American superstar in boxing.
I think he has all the physical tools to handle Hopkins and his power is definitely greater than Hopkins'. I look for Taylor to win a close but clear decision.
Golota's chin is terrible! Only his heart is worse than his glass chin.
Regardless of what certain people in the boxing media would lie you to believe, Brewster has never been a great puncher. He couldn't KO Clifford Ettienne (who probably has the worst chin in the division); he couldn't KO Charles Shufford or Kali Meehan. These our all guys that get starched regularly.
Also, Golota was PULVERIZED by Lennox Lewis in one round; he was dropped by Michael Grant three times and Mike Tyson put him on his ass almost immediatley.
Golota is a bum and will always be one.
I'd take Pacman by late round stoppage... As small as Pac is, he never was really hurt by Morales. Chavez on the other hand got dropped twice by El Terrible.
I say that to say, Pac can KO Chavez in probably the runner up for fight of the year.
Guys ... Taylor is VERY basic ... elementary even. Hopkins will have him figured out before they even enter the ring while Taylor will try to bumrush him for a few rounds, maybe hold his own a bit before realizing he's missing, getting hit and doesn't have a plan B.
If you thought Eastman was lost, baffled and confused ... wait til you see Taylor.
Humbled and humiliated come to mind when considering his prospects.
Hopkins is getting old, not stupid.
I couldn't disagree more. First of all, Eastman was a second rate Middleweight. He was stiff as hell, couldn't fight going backwards, weak jab, slow and easily confused (see joppy fight).
Taylor is much more athletic than Eastman, has a much better jab, more power and is not robotic. Also, Taylor knows how to mix his punches up very well and just about every one of his punches has "BAD INTENTIONS" on them.
I can see Hopkins stinking the arena out by sitting back and counterpunching and holding all night long, but if he tries to bring the fight to Taylor he'll get a beating like no other.
I strongly disagree with Hopkins being 7 (give the middleweight king more respect), Barrera being 3 (he was just blown out by Pacquiao, has 2 bad losses to Junior Jones, and Fana shouldn't even count), Johnson at 5 (the close dec with Tarver and win over shot RJJ shouldn't propel him into the top 5 all of a sudden).
1. Hopkins
2. Mayweather
3. Wright
4. Morales
5. Tszyu (or 4a.)
6. Corrales
7. Barrera
8. R. Marquez
9. Judah
10. Johnson
Why shouldnt wins over Eric Harding, Clinton Woods, Roy Jones and Antonio Tarver (all in a row) launch Glen into the top 10?
Imagine if it was Bernard Hopkins that had moved up and beat all those guys in a row?? OMG! Hopkins would be considered the best of all time.
