All this fight showed was boxing is filled with paper champions
Only that, eh? Go away and do something uninteresting.
Two well matched fighters gave us a battle for the ages. Their commitment to the cause was humbling.
Just read about his passing. That's him and Errol in my thumbnail. They didn't quite reach the heights that were expected of them, but they both gave us a night to remember. RIP
If the context of their comment was 'this was for a shot at undisputed' then yes. That consideration is completely irrelevant to a referee's decision in the moment.
First of all, you misquoted me. Second I was giving context to the backlash, not whether that aspect would or wouldn't influence a referee. And third, you're being disingenuous if you don't think that referees a) are not swayed by the home crowd cheering on the A-side fighter b) don't measure headliners differently (rightly or wrongly) to down-the-bill fights as regards when to step in. While Parker had been hurt, at no stage was he in no position to defend himself, or taking unnecessary punishment.
Ex-fighters and trainers are looking at it from the emotional perspective too. I think your use of the word 'injustice' is misplaced here also.
How so? Do you know that? So, by your metric, no one outside of a referee (homegrown and deafened by a baying home crowd) is able to have a non-emotional perspective.
Which is exactly why emotional imbeciles on social media wouldn't make good referees. None of that can be in the referee's mind when making decisions about fighter safety.
You don't have to be an 'emotional imbecile on social media' to point out an injustice, ex-fighters and trainers can and have called it out as such.
Well, it's contextual. It was to nail down a shot at the undisputed, and Parker lost that opportunity. So having been buzzed but not dropped, having not turned away or gone limp, but stayed poised and protected while still attempting to fire back from shots that were more cuffing than full-blooded, I'd say it was an early stoppage that could understandably anger people.
Fury knows Wilder is custom made for him ,the forum may not like it but AJ, Whyte ,Hrgovic, Joyce maybe a few other up and comers will cause him more difficulty ,I’d even say Usyk is more problematic then Wilder .
Fury’s excuse there’s no one to fight is very laughable the division is stacked to the top . He knows himself and even admitted some of the guys I mentioned would be future champions, he doesn’t really need any excuses to call it quits if he does he’s leaving the harder fights for him and not perusing the harder fights out there if that’s not a reason to stay fighting I don’t know what is .
No one can predict what Fury will do, even himself, but I think he's good for a few years yet. The fact that March is being touted for Whyte is a good sign, and if he prevails, he'll at least give us the undisputed fight. There are plenty of competitive fights out there, as you say, and the likes of Hrgovic and Joyce are more dangerous than anything in the Wlad era, IMO.
Funny thing before he ends this interview he admitted that keeping the title is the hardest thing to do in boxing defending it time and time again ,but he’s very adamant of not being to enthusiastic about defending titles his whole career ? Even states belts are meaningless ,he’s literally putting himself against what is the most notable thing to do in boxing .
As much as Fury talks up retirement, he also says boxing is all he knows and loves. Whether that's down to him being bipolar and depressive, who knows. Maybe it's the fact that he can envisage quitting that actually keeps him going.
What the hell?
the guy is a Geordie isn’t he? Or at least that area, County Durham maybe. That’s how they talk.
I was in Newcastle two weeks ago and pretty much every lady over about 35 working in a shop or cafe called me “pet” while I was being served. It’s part of their every day vocabulary.
What a joke
Exactly. 'Pet', 'duck', 'doll' ... Offence taken, not given
Wow , that is unfortunate to what level the cops are willing to go
Im not in the UK but where I live it is becoming a military state although we have no states lol
Seems like a particular trend with the all-encompassing notion of 'hate speech'
Fck Del Bum
I fell asleep midway through the opening rd with his ''fight'' with Wlad.
He's an oaf.
You know zip, but I give you credit for openly displaying it
What's to know other than Flubberella has a laughable resume and is clumsy AF ?
You can't say that I'm lying
I know you're not lying, that's precisely why you know nothing
- - Once a drunk, he got a brief respite with the low hanging fruit of Deyonce who looks perfectly poised now to become the two time low hanging fruit WBC champion.
Now he drunk and may be sanctioned after his MTK association.
So where does the 'respite' end, outside of your wishful thinking?
Like a mint overstuffed beanbag
He's never that ''nimble'' in a fight.
'Never' is an unforgiving word. See Chisora 2 or Klitschko fight for details, as I guess your knowledge of Fury pretty much stops at the Wilder fights
- - MTK ain't wishful.
Leave Blubber be. He came, he saw, he ducked...end of...
Neither is the line of belts he took from both reigning champs - that's the real end of
What was you expecting him to look like in such a short amount of time from the Whyte fight lol
It's logical enough; retirement talk would suggest slackening off on the training and sliding into a certain amount of indulgence, wouldn't you think?
Funny how people are calling Benavidez flat-footed. Canelo is every bit that. Benavidez can actually spring in to attack and can also adjust his feet to create space and angles for his combinations. Canelo cannot match his output nor stamina; that's a guarantee.
Glad to see Mago in his much improved state.
His wife is truly a blessing and a warrior. I remember when he got hurt. They didn't have a time with lots of medical bills, debt and doctors telling her Mago would be a vegetable.
Your average woman who didn't care about her man would've packed it up the first day. But I watched this woman go to WAR and fight for her man. Here we are many years later and millions of dollars later, THEY MADE IT!
Legenday story, legendary woman and legendary couple.
Good for them.
I second that. A terrible outcome, but it's heartwarming to hear how his wife and family have been there for him.
So according to box rec at the moment for main contenders (British). I’ve ignored some others eg gormon, who are no attraction at all
1 - Joshua
4 - Bellew
5 - Tyson fury
8 - Whyte
19 - hughie fury
21 - chisora
52 - Joyce
57 - dubios
163 - Allen
You're wrong about Gorman. Not been chin-checked yet, but he's young and has skills.
Yeah sure, and your country is not turning into a total cesspool of crime and rape, and your referees are totally fair and unbiased as well!
Remind me how many times Wlad got points deducted for clutching and leaning on.
