After the Taylor-Catterall debacle, we hear the familiar outcries and the usual placatory response from the BBB of C that there'll be a discussion about the judges' performance. We already know the outcome from its General Secretary, Robert Smith, after his comments that he thought Catterall just pipped it and that the judges are honest. We saw that even when Terry O'Connor was caught on his phone during a similar robbery with the Ritson-Vazquez fight. Nothing changes. Honest or not, there's an ineptitude/prejudice which has cemented the UK as a place where visiting fighters won't get a fair shake on the scorecards.
Dazn, Sky etc shrug their shoulders and say it's beyond their jurisdiction, and that there's little they can do. But it's their product, their content the public are paying for, so anything about it that's sub-standard they have a duty to tackle. That means putting far more pressure on the Board for the judges and referees that are such an integral part of their shows. Otherwise, why attend, tune into or bet on a sport when you can see the bias is so blatant?
