any fights lined up?
Not sure about anything right now, but he fought last year on the Thurman card and on Lamont's in October. I'll swing by their gym every now and then and was there last month but he nor Lamont showed up to train so they probably don't have something until March or April.
this is actually anthony peterson, lamont's brother.
but i haven't heard much about him since the rios fight. i wonder what he's been up to.
He's still been in the gym.
Then elaborate for fans such as myself that drink the "kool aid" daily and gobble all the bull**** the media dishes out. Enlighten me and my naive ways, I don't want to live in a world of deception and black and white any longer, I want to see beyond the grey area.
For starters.... who was headlining the HBO card last night and how many people tuned into the USS fight on NBC Sports Network?
Even playing field, pound for pound -- Rigo would have outclassed Loma. However, if Garcia was on an even playing field, he might beat everyone on that list except GRJ and Rigo. Linares and Pedraza stand out as toss up fights just based off of at least one fight against top tier opposition.
This is a great thread actually. It's cool that you actually decided to score your rounds with the event -- what happens if there's knockdowns or point deductions, are you posting your numbers as well for other fights? I thought Lopez did enough to score the majority decision.
I just feel like Garcia can't catch a break..I mean he beat Holt Morales(the first one was legit imo)and Khan..Was thrown to the wolfs when place in with Khan and over came that hurdle..I just feel like Garcia should get a lil more respect..
No bull at all. I wasn't sold on Garcia going into the Khan fight. I was never sold on Khan, but for some strange reason, I jumped on the bandwagon after that fight, I admit it hahaha.
With that being said, I still like Judah's chances and would pick LPete 9/10 times to beat Garcia. He's a solid fighter, but he's kind of stuck in that Chad Dawson realm right now.
It's not his fault. You had the rematch clause with Morales.
And what people don't understand is that GBP has a long term contract with the Barclay and they have to hit certain ticket sale quotas to keep that contract. That's why the Judah fight is happening in a nutshell.
I think they are trying to build up Matthysse vs. Garcia a little bit more so they can put it there at a later time.
That's the reason Schaefer won't make Maidana vs. Paulie because he doesn't think Maidana can sell tickets at that venue.
Good post, I don't dispute any of that. But to think a Garcia-Matthysse bout wouldn't sell at the Barclay's right now is ridiculous. I understand the build up and all... and I'm not opposed to Garcia-Judah, just saying that he's yet to get in with a legit jr. welter, despite being a solid fighter.
I absolutely agree..But don't sleep on Garcia bro,he's no candy...
Peterson devours Garcia, solely on his inside game. Judah has good shot at the upset, just depends on Garcia's punch resistance.
Shocked Lundy was able to get the KO, he isn't really known for his power. He probably felt desperate abit because he was hurt at times in the fight. I like this Lundy, maybe its a good thing when he gets hurt because than we have brutal KO wins. :p
Unless he gets stopped like he did against Molina, I like that he came back to knockout an opponent who had him hurt.
The wild thing about the straight left he landed was that it didn't even look like he put everything into it because he was already hooking off of the punch... It looked like it was more so Diaz walking into the punch. Either way, I liked this Lundy as well, despite getting caught with an equilibrium shot, I liked that he wasted less energy by standing in front and picking off shots and slipping.
Well,Khan was(the book is still out if he still)flawed..The same way Peterson Matt's Garcia Rios etc etc..There really is no stand out right now, which is why WW(WW and Jr)is the best div in boxing..
But make no mistake Garcia made his name mean something when he beat cry baby Khan..That moment in time was big for him..I don't think Garcia should just be toss to the side like that..
Hahaha, I think that's why I jumped on the Garcia express ha! But I know what you mean. Good point about there being so much parody from '40-'47, definitely the best divisions in boxing.
Maybe,I see a close fight tbh..
I hear you, Rome. You could be right. It was Kendall Holt after all... he's never had an inside game himself, but he's been way past it whereas Garcia is still rising.
Lundy and Yusef Mack are 1 in the same Philly fighters there soft chins and lack of focus will derail there ascent up the rankings
But isn't it safe to say that Pacquiao's ducking Lundy because he devoured his leftovers in better fashion?
Doesn't take much to hurt khan and he was already on queer street. I think it's more likely Peterson gets respect than the other way around. Danny likes to catch you coming in with a hook, punching WITH you as you commit. If you're already inside, things get weird.
It was always my thoughts when watching him spar. And he hates Jabs.. granted, everytime I see him get beat up in sparring it was to a longer jab than usual - sparring Rosado.
Petersons got a jab and an inside game. I'd say he's Swifts kryptonite.. but Danny ALWAYS finds a way to get it done, so who knows. I also don't trust Petersons beard.
Sadly... He got buzzed in the first when he took a flush right from Holt. Holt can crack but Peterson is vulnerable early no matter who he's in with.
Thats basically all he does and outworks old guys
This..... That's the only reason why I'm not fully sold on Garcia. I understand Morales exercised his rematch clause, but we've yet to see him in with a legit '40-pounder.
Matt's lost to Judah and Alexander..Like I said, not one notable victory on his resume..
But think about what you're saying with Khan, he's legit but he lost to a guy who, by your standards, was unproven and didn't have a notable win up to that point. So what does that say about Khan?
Like I said before, it's tough for Garcia just because there's not a depth of fights to really justify. Morales was way past it and in a weight class he wasn't proven at -- Holt was removed from his best days when he fought Garcia -- and Khan, well... But Matthysse is right there and it's like the Garcia's are trying their hardest to avoid that route.
Khan was legit bro,and was KO'd in 4..People like to down play this fact..Peterson did not beat another legit 140lb fighter out side of Khan..Matt's has yet to beat a legit 140lb fighter..Ya see what I'm getting at..
Matthysse was in with Judah and Alexander, we at least had some criteria to base off of.
Khan wasn't legit, we just have to agree to disagree there. Pete fought Bradley and Ortiz .
Is it unfair to Garcia, perhaps. But we saw Chad Dawson go on the senior citizen tour and when he fought Pascal, he waited 'til it was too late.
What classifies a fighter being "on the down slide"?
Ones that get gifts against gatekeepers at '47 and look like garbage after losing their first bout against more gatekeepers at jr. welter. Or maybe guys that haven't fought at the weight class below them in seven years... maybe "being on the down slide" means getting gift draws against guys that participated on The Contender... or perhaps guys that are much different fighters than they were three years ago when a trilogy should have happened instead of now....
This break down probably doesn't help since you have Pac goggles on.
About what? Because, close fights that can go either way can't be called robberies or gift decisions? :lol1: You can't be taken serious if you believe that.
Using this logic. We can say that everybody that Floyd has fought up to Castillo has been on the "down slide" of their career right? I mean if we use the "what have they done since or before"
Save face? About what? I didn't know it was a big secret that I'm a Pac fan? Yes it is my sig. You're right...How did you figure that I have Pac on my sig? You're a modern day real life Sherlock Holmes. And, if I ride Pac strap because I asked a question that you have yet been able to answer. Then by all means I ride his strap.
There was nothing close about either of those fights. That's why I can't take you seriously.
There's a difference... Mayweather fought those guys coming off impressive wins. Stop riding Pac, it certainly doesn't help your stance and it makes you look terrible, hence why you can't be taken seriously. Save face.
If Floyd could even get down to 140 again. It wouldn't be an even match, unless Floyd carries the weight horribly. If Floyd carried the weight and had moved like the Gatti fight, Marquez gets the biggest one-sided beating of his life. Floyd at 140 let his hands go and still couldn't be touched, Marquez would look like a play thing. Floyd never showed mercy below 147.
Everything from Pacquiao above 140 is a sham. Catch weights for title fights, pruned up zombies, fighting against a punching bag, and beating on a shot to shyt old guy who drawn against Mora.
My gosh, Mayweather at '40 was in his prime. He was incredible at that weight. Lighting quick reflexes and punching ability... he could pop at that weight, too.
Now anybody who thinks Collazo and Clottey won the respective fights is fine by me. But, the poblem is you making it sound like they were robberies and that's far from true.
And, anybody who thinks those fights were robberies or gift decisions can't be take serious.
Also since when does a lose reflect being down hill....Not saying that they weren't. But, it's that the only proof you have? And, does that mean that credit shouldn't be given to Pac for beating them?
Again Hopkins is not the same from what he was years ago. Should Dawson not get credit for that respective win?
Or is down hill comes only to play when it concerns Pacquiao?
Again, I can't take you seriously.
Also, "on the down slide of their careers..." What have DLH, Mosley, Hatton, Cotto, Margarito, and Clottey done since Pacquiao? What do they do in the fight(s) before fighting Pacquiao.
You clearly ride Pacquiao's strap. It's your sig... just hone up to the fact that you're a die hard Pacquiao fan instead of trying to play fan of the sport. Save face, you look terrible right now.
IMHO i think he wouldnt, reasons being father-son partnerships hardley ever work out, as he got older he must have realised how much of a work horse his father was and knew that staying with ARoger was what is best for his career.
thoughts?
I like when Sr. was training because Mayweather always looked extremely sharp. Roger does great work as well, but I think Sr. was always able to get the absolute best out of Jr.
Anyway, you could be right. I look at Judah's career and wonder why he didn't get his father out of the picture as far as being his trainer, I mean, the guy was a kickboxer at that. Then again, Mosley made the change a few times and it's not like he looked outstanding with the constant switches. It's hard to gauge what would have came of Mayweather if he hadn't split with his father. He was clearly frustrated with him by the time he switched, though.
So you basically your classification for "down slide" is all you have to be is Pac opponent.
Good shit. Now take Pac out of the equation. What classifies as being on the "down slide"
For example B-Hop is not the same fighter. If Dawson beats B-Hop later this year. Would be beating some one that's on the "down slide" and even then should Dawson not get credit for it?
And, since you're talking about "gift decisions" please clarify what "gift decisions' to you?
So tell me, how good did all of Pac's recent opponents look going into their respective fights with the guy. Clearly you have selective visioning if you honestly needed to be debriefed on the statement "fighting... guys on the down slide of their careers."
Wow, so you actually believe Hatton beat Collazo and Cotto beat Clottey.... I can't take you seriously.
mayweather vs mosley without cbs 1.4million buys, official, u mad?
You forgot to mention that it was also available online, as well.... Pacquiao-Mosley that is.
