first off, anytime an opinion is spoken (written), someone will always think someone else is an idiot. On that note, I think the only way to compare current champs to legends is if the current champs trained like the legends did. The training is so much more sophisticated now that there are more opportunities to become a "physical marval." Plus, fighters (especially those during the depression) were distracted a lot more due to the realities of life and societies demand for decent reputation. I could go on, but am tired of typing. Like I said before, the only way to compare the two is if the trained the way of the elder.
The only way DLH is gonna beat Mayorga is to jab and run. Make Mayorga chase him and hope he tires so he won't knock out DLH. If it goes 12 i will give it to DLH, majority decision. Otherwise, KO via Mayorga. early to mid rounds. And there is no way DLH is going to put Ricardo on the ground.
Who besides Winky and DLH can beat Tito anyway??????????
WHO- Ouma(hell no),Vargas(hellno), Karmazin(uh,no), Quartey(LOL). Common, Tito can beat all but DLH and Winky. If you have someone else in mind let me know. If Tito fights again(which he wont) he will fight at 154.
B-Hop beat him too.
I was saying at @147 or 154? not 160
Oh, ok. Then in that case, yes, you are right. But I doubt DLH or Trinidad (if he comes out of retirement) will ever see 147 again.
I think you all missed the first point. DLH beating Mayorga. Probably not gonna happen unless he jabs and runs. DLH cannot stand toe to toe or even risk throwing his combos on Mayorga. He will go right through them and POW...down goes DLH again. DLH and Mayorga is such a stupid fight. As for PBF and DLH...DLH won't have to go down to 147, Mayweather's arrogance and pride will take the fight at 154. He wants it bad, fight his father and DLH at the same time. We shall see tho'.
I think that they can both make 154.
Yea, 154 is DLH's natural weight anyways. well, a little higher. He might make it to 147 again, but highly doubtful. Tito, honestly, don't really care about. i stopped enjoying watching him a while ago. And if Mayweather wants to fight DLH, i think they'll fight at 154 or at a decided weight. 150 or something like they did for the Hopkins fight.
First off...Bouie is "possibly" not going to be there due to health issues.
And second off, if Hopkins loses this fight, it will be because Taylor was the better fighter...IF Hopkins loses.
I wouldn't call taking a step back "running". Also, if you notice, Morales is going right after him. Usually the weight of someone attacking you will push back more. Yes, it was a sucker punch. So who's the sucker then? Also, if you watch the fights, I would say Barrera didn't do much running. Just a little FYI.
That article is way to biased, but I agree with the whole point of the article..
but sayin Byrd should be the real HW champ right now is a fucking JOKE!
I agree that beating Rahman would do nothing for his rep, however, beating VK would do a lot for Hasim's rep. If he beat him with style.
And why would you put a pic of all your homeboys on the internet??? especially if you were all as hard as you are trying to be. With names, that's fuckin' stupid. If they are your boys, do they know that anyone can see them and their alias right now???? I could be a cop.
HAHAHA
He's still got a ways to go, to be "in shape", but their training is getting a lot more harder and longer. He is running between 6-8 miles a day at 3500 feet elevation.
Two double cheeseburgers w/ fries and a drink a McDonald's.
But I love the double jab, straight right, left hook to the body followed by a left to the head....if they don't go down from that, throw in another straight right to head after the hooks and see what happens.
Prime Tapia would have beat any current fighter between 115 and 130. He is the greatest fighter of all time under 130 pounds.
Your my boy running...Mad love for you...and the speech shit, probably a typing error, if you ever heard him speak you would know he's an alright talker. Anyways, long live the king of the batam/feather weights. Johnny Tapia.
No, Mitchell doesn't have a chance. I would love to see him win, but Mayweather's bad dude. I am not a fan, but he is a damn good boxer. They are schedueled to fight in Portland, OR. I am hoping to go to that.
I would bet my life on the fact that he cannot bench 600 pounds.
I doubt he can even do 500.
Hes not that big that he could lift that much, and his arms are too long to promote that much weight.
hey, hitman, I will ask him next time I see him how much he can bench. Or I will go down to the gym and see. I will keep you posted, just remind me when I am on. Probably won't get that info from you for a day or two. But I will find out.
Oh, and no one seems to even acknowlage the fact that Rahman has a two inch reach on VK. If he utilizes that, the results could be devastating.
Why not? Its easy money, ppv potential, and we will finally see Tarver destroyed like many of us want :D
I say Tyson should jump right on the opportunity.
No offense, but I don't see Tyson winning another fight in the ring unless he fights burnouts that are really BURNT OUT, or up and comers that have less than ten fights. All Tarver has to do is throw straigt combos and use lateral movement for 4 or 5 rounds, which will wear Tyson out, and if Tyson doesn't quit by then, Tarver should step in the 6th will hard pressure and he will secure either a KO or TKO. Either way, Tyson is done. Let his legacy die with what dignity it still has left.
If I were Taylor, I would be training my ass off. Hopkins wants redemption. Especially since Taylor didn't do enough to win those titles in that fight (in my opinion). Hopkins took Jermain too lightly, yes, but he is going to be out for blood in fight #2. I say Hopkins by late round KO. He won't come in like a bull, he is smart, but he will punish Taylor until he goes down. It will be a Benard Hopkins we haven't seen since he won his title. Should prove to be entertaining.
Hopkins time is over he should realize it he's what 41 now?
His time is ALMOST over. He will get his win. He won't retire like that. If what he said was true, then he is going to fight like he did after he lost to RJJ. Like a machine. A smart one at that. Don't think his age is his weakness. Taylor is fooled by the first fight. He doesn't understand that with age comes wisdom and B-Hop is one of the smartest fighters out there right now. In and out of the ring.
Just watch...time will tell.
Barrera-Morales because each installment was competitive. Gatti owned Ward in the rematch, and Ali outboxed Frazier by a landslide in their rematch. Barrera-Morales fights were all debatable and violent.
What????? I agree to a point about Gatti/Ward and Barrera/Morales. But if you are talking about the Thrilla In Manilla then you must have only seen the first 3 rounds and round 13 and 14. Because in between was a god damned war. Go back and watch, without the bias of "Ali being the greates" and you will see.
Is to come out gangbusters throwing bombs like Brewster did against Golota and surprise the dogshit out of Vitali. IF he can manage to catch Vitali off guard, then I think he might have a chance. Otherwise...
VK probably expects Rahman to come out bombing. If Rahman is smart he will use his reach to get inside and then chop up Klitchko's body. Like what was said before...Rahman has more of a chance than ppl give him. This is a fight against lungs...for both fighters.
yeah the reach advantage is the reason i think itd be hard for him to bench so much weight.
im 6'4 but i have the reach of someone 6'8, because of that i always had a hard time bench pressing a lot of weight. ive never seen anyone put up over 500 who wasnt short and squatty (or on steroids) which rahman definately isnt.
Yea, I agree with you there. I am not much of a weight lifter, I'm a lightweight (tourny's I'm a featherweight), but i am tall. 5'10 and pretty long reach for being 132-136 lb walking around weight. It is hard for me to bench. But I'll ask him tonight or tomorrow what he can bench. It depends, I have practice from 6-8:30pm, sometimes he is working out upstairs on the weights during that time.
i've never seen the ali-frazier trilogy though i read some on it. So i cant comment on it.
However between the other 2 its Morales vs Barrera.
Their fights were all heart, hate, passion, everything and brought a level of skill to which Ward and Gatti's trilogy simply dont match up.
If you haven't seen ALI-FRAZIER then you need to put that on your list of priorties to do....SOON! That is a classic!!!! I can't decide between the three I love the most. Barrera and Morales was hate bred. Gatti and Ward was like two warriors fighting because they are warriors. No other reason needed. Ali and Frazier was a bit of hate and pride mixed with the need to be respected. I almost say that was the best because even to take second was god damned impressive. It is too bad they ruined each other's career....or ending of their career. I wish Frazier was able to redeem himself from his losses to Forman. Her might have had a chance to win had the Thrilla In Manilla not been so damaging. Frazier's my boy.
I have been watching Rahman spar this last week. He just sparred Kevin McBride, the guy who just stopped Tyson, and cut him on McBride's 3rd round. It was Rahman's 5th round. From what I've seen, if Rahman works his hard jab to get inside, VK is going to be feeling those toward the later half of the fight. Oh, and if Rahman gets body shots in...he might be able to stop VK. I'll keep the board posted about Rahman's behaviors and training.
Biggest problem with that article.
He'a A Heavyweight titlist. Not "THE".
"THE" Heavywieght Champion has unified titles, and beat better opponents than Johnson, Donald and Sanders.
Hats off to you. It is very seldom I see someone who recognizes the fact that in order to be THE heavyweight champion of the world, there needs to be unification. On that note. I miss the days of only one world title, but business is business and having 4 makes more $$$.
Captain Wazz
As long as the poor decisions and politics rule boxing, any sport has a chance to become more popular. MMA will probably not "fad out" but I am waiting for another sactioning body to appear, and corrupt/controvesial desicions. Until then tho, yea, MMA is bigger than boxing. And will continue to get bigger if it remains, entertaining. However, Dana White is straight up making mad cash off it. And I know the fighters aren't getting near what they could be.
