Complete and utter robbery, Golovkin schooled Canelo. Landed the harder punches, landed more, controlled the pace, and was hit far less.
I told the haters Golovkin is far more skilled than Canelo, he made him miss by several inches and caught most of Canelo's punches on the gloves.
Are you sure you were watching the fight? When Canelo let his hands go, he was landing at will. Canelo was comfortably the better boxer.
only fought for 1 minute of every round and only had success win Golovkin let him have success.
Allowed himself to be schooled on how to box? If GGG didn't have such a ridiculous chin, he would have been dropped a couple of times.
When did GGG catch Canelo with a decent punch? Or is that what you meant by GGG allowing him to have success?
A draw is the correct result.
GGG went forward all night but he ate some big big shots. Alvarez was more successful in the middle of the ring and if he stayed off the ropes he would have beat him comfortably, GGG's best attribute was his work rate and his chin.
Awesome fight and this is a lot like Floyd JLC1 where a case can be made for either guy.
Anyone who thinks either guy is going to have an easy night is dreaming. These guys are both very good
Agreed. I don't know why so many here have lost their **** so much, it was a really close fight and I would've been happy with either fighter winning, as each round was so tight.
I was pulling and I will be pulling for Ward but I thought Kovalev did just enough, however it went, I'm just glad we have a rematch to such a titanic contest.
Nah right man won, i had it 8-4 to Usyk but I do agree with the majority and think he will struggle vs any of the top heavies or young lions like Dubois/Joyce. Fun fights vs Parker/Whyte but I wouldn't be surprised to see him flattened.
I'm pissed off with this card, cost me £60 to be sitting up in the clouds. Fighters pulling out and they refuse to refund me. Hoping for a shock result so Hearn can choke on a dick.
He should have taken the money and showed the UK fans a little more of what he would bring to the AJ fight. In the UK nobody knows him, they just know he's the next big fight for AJ.
If he put on a good performance and knocked Whyte out then it would have got the British crowd wet with excitement at the prospect of AJ fighting someone his own size and age. I
think Hearn knows DW wouldn't have a chance but he's willing to over pay now and cash it all back in when AJ and Wilder get it on.
Kovalev shouldn't have been going down to those shots...unless they were really hurting him and he's talking ****.
I think there was a low blow in that sequence and the stoppage was ****. Ref should have allowed the fight to continue anď allow Ward to get the ending he deserved.
Kovalev had little left or nothing left in the tank and was going to lose but that wasn't the way to end it.
S.O.G! Watched the fight again and Ward really put in a great performance. Took Kovalev's soul and broke him down mentally.
Rather than people complaining about Ward's low blow, which I agree the last shot was low, not to the balls low but low nonetheless, we should be commending Ward for not ending Kovalev's career when he bent down and turned his back in a championship fight after a perfectly legal shot. Ward had every right to end him at that point, instead, he allowed Kovalev a chance to ask for the referee to intervene and then even allowed him the chance to turn around and face him... before almost decapitating Kovalev shortly after.
It's a real shame Weeks stopped the fight, it would have been more satisfying for Ward to show he is the superior fighter by finishing him. Kovalev was not coming back from that point on.
I have to assume there are a lot trolls on this site. That or Mayweather really pissed a lot of people off dominating great fighters one after the other.
