Wow, this card is horrible, typical Hearn BS. The fact that fans are not able to be refunded for tickets is outrageous as they are getting a completely different product/service than what they originally purchased. Admittedly over 90% of fans attending are casuals who are only there for AJ alone, but imagine being a Callum Johnson fan who's paid good money for a ticket and will now not be able to get their money back. Or worse imagine being a Pulev fan who's planned to travel over from Bulgaria, paid for flights, accommodation etc and will unfairly lose out. What interest would he have in watching AJ-Takam? The fact that Hearn can just smugly say the "show goes on" is disgusting
Once again Eddie Hearn is cheating the fans.
I'm pissed off with this card, cost me £60 to be sitting up in the clouds. Fighters pulling out and they refuse to refund me. Hoping for a shock result so Hearn can choke on a dick.
Not the best card. However i am looking forward to seeing Yafai vs Ishida and Whyte vs Helenius.
What the fück is going on with Kalle's face ? My word that man is one ugly mofo.
It's a shocker of a card, Helenius vs Whyte should be quite evenly matched though, two top twenty guys going head to head I'm not expecting fireworks actually more concerned the victor will likely be mandated to fight Wilder which is a bummer really as Wilder won't get half as much as he hopes with Hearn offering 4m and likely winning a purse bid for less than what he offered as an optional defence, My guess Wilder shoud have accepted the 4m as he's seriously going to be facing Whyte this time next year mandated, whilst AJ faces Parker.
Yeah like that BN/BT bill the other night
Warrington vs Ceylan (Title eliminator i think)
Nurse vs Catterall (British JWW title, 50-50 fight on paper)
Woodstock vs Poxton (WBO Euro (but really should have been English title, good fight nonetheless)
Barret vs Conwell (good step up)
Metcalf vs Jones (good fight)
That was an enjoyable night of boxing. Plenty to get your teeth into there. Would like to see more cards like this on Sky. Burns vs Crolla was a good card in this vein the other day. With their budget we should be getting more of those.
Yeah Frank generally has a little more appreciation for the value that domestic "industry fights" can add to a show. Although in fairness the Saunders vs Monroe card last month was absolutely dire from start to finish
Yeah right now too large a portion of his roster consists of prospects. More prospects = more "development fights" = less competitive boxing. He needs to sign more domestic level fighters - guys for whom the British title is a career goal rather than a stepping stone - and use them to fill up the televised portions of his undercards and push the prospects further down the bill

Hearn has too much on his plate at the moment imo. Too many fighters (especially too many prospects), and fingers in too many pies.

I was quite excited about NXTGEN giving me opportunity to avoid these fights all together tbh.
Don't get me wrong the moment Buatsi is in a British title fight I am going to be excited and I might even go. But his career to that point just aint gonna be that interesting is it?
It's just going to be about him making small adjustments to the professional game, and refining his skills in training camp. For us watching it is likely going to look like him blasting out a Latvian shoe salesman.
When the NXTGEN series was announced I thought it meant that he'd be matching his prospects a little tougher than previously but instead he's just taken the **** that used to be at the bottom of shows and put it at the top. I'd rather he just gave us some more traditional small hall shows with Area and English level fights like BoxNation does occasionally
Think Kelly is too good for his own good at the moment, hes entering where Josh Taylor was last year, getting decent fights without having to overpay.
David Allens replacement has appeared http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/576152 no idea
Dorian Darch 😂😂😂 He's a nice guy tbf and at least he's Welsh. Kelly is the standout for sure. I get the feeling Booth wants to move him a lot quicker than Hearn does.
what do you think of these Olympians on these PPV's?
I can't be the only one whose heart sinks when I see them on there.
I like Josh Buatsi I just think he should be on these nextgen shows or whatever until he is at title level. English title level at least.
These PPV's should always have a couple of British title fights at least.
Agree with this mate. I dont see why these olympians even start their careers below area level tbh. Should be starting out at least at area level, maybe even English. They go from fighting the best amateurs in the world, fighting over 5 rounds in WSB, to fighting Joe Average who just does a bit of training here and there to keep himself fit.
Joyce proved how comfortably these guys would beat an ok level opposition right off the bat, he had the longest layoff and the most question marks about whether he was any good or not. Basically pounded a domestic HW with ease.
Not putting Cordina in a decent fight in his hometown is criminal imo. Hearn has too much on his plate at the moment imo. Too many fighters (especially too many prospects), and fingers in too many pies.
He's been unlucky with this card, and has done well to pull together ok replacements, but its basically ended up a long and boring night of boxing.
Spot on. There's no value for fans or the fighters themselves in fighting guys they wouldn't use as sparring partners. Let them off the leash and let's see what these guys can really do.
To be honest I prefer them at the bottom of bigger cards rather than actually headlining those NXTGEN shows. I don't really mind if the fights at 6pm are crap as long as the ones after 9pm are good. I was hoping that Cordina would get a decent opponent rather than another TBC though
In fairness to Matchroom the Buglioni vs Johnson fight was a perfect undercard fight on paper, it's just bad luck that Johnson had to pull out. In its original state I would have bought this card if I was in, but now there's no way

Darch is ok for Allen if it wasnt on 5 days notice.
Bit gutted for Allen but really there wasnt anything in his career to say he was Commonwealth title level. Just sells a lot of tickets and got a bit of banter.

Buatsi, Kelly and Cordina are the only ones capable of getting to the top IMO. If you want to "showcase" these guys at least put them in semi competitive fights. Otherwise I don't wish to see them beat up bums.

yeah agreed. Especially when paying for the card.
once they even get to Southern Area title level I'd probably accept it. But a Hungarian Taxi Driver on a weeks notice - you can't have that.

Think theres reasons why the same fighters appear on Joshua cards. Yafai's Joshua's mate, Whyte to do some madcap **** in the build up, Buatsi and Okolie are signed with Joshua, Katie Taylor to bring in the Irish money, Cordina because hes Welsh, lol.
Yafai is a good dynamic and brings some light to the little men and he's a champ so it should be a good fight. Katie Taylor I don't actually mind and she'll be a champ. And I guess you're right about the other lads.
But Christ, even if I were welsh I'd rather have two honest pros going hammer and tongs for a celtic title or whatever regional strap it is there.
Ideally, you wouldn't see Okolie on these bills until he was fighting Isaac Chamberlain or something.
It is not like these Olympians are being fast tracked. They're just incremental, sensible steps. Fair enough. But don't put them on these cards.
I'd have to be related to Joe Cordina to want to watch his fight on Saturday.
It is sky's fault I reckon. Eddie literally has too many dates.
