Ward fans, how do you defend this?

If the fight continued... Ward would've probably won.... but still imo it was more of Weeks doing a terrible job rather than Kov wanting to quit. We can agree to disagree. I thought kov bailed out.

They were low imo but borderline. They were not golotaesque as a number of pro Eastern Europe loving posters and daggum are pretending. Kov was done. He was hurt. He wanted to go home. With the effing preparation for fairness the ref screws it up. First time the commissioner is seen stepping up in the Rigo/Flores fight. Who would have thought the ref in the main event won't cooperate in one of most contested, controversial win in history? No warning on low blows, didn't even give Kov time to recover, no counting before declaring win. It's just effing useless. These clowns never learn.

Clear low blows, if it was the other way around, no way the ref does that!!! No ****ing way, ward is truly blessed, gets the last fight and titles handed to him, got all of his super six fights at home, gets away with blatant cheating head butts in the past and now this!! I've been okay with this ref until last night. No warning for low blows, no counting before declaring a win. Do these refs no longer know how to count? Kov fans would have been okay with Ward winning.

As a Ward fan, I can not defend it. The punch clearly lands low. But in general, Ward was very effective on the body and that was his path to victory. Think about this; the reff could've called a few of Ward's punches low, and could 've deducted him a point. Still Ward would not have given up on the body. He would've kept working on it to a too. Either way, Kovalev was doomed

You guys can argue all day long about whether those blows were low or not. The main issue for me is the stoppage. It was premature and reeked of bias. I do agree with you about the stoppage. It was terrible. I don't think it would have saved Kovalev from taking an ass whipping if the fight was allowed to continue. But it did rob Ward of getting a conclusive, decisive finish and injected controversy when there didn't need to be any.

Hype Job and Queercules are acting like Ward burst one of his testicles. :lol1: But just check their act, they love to talk about "we was Kangz n sheet" and "dindu nuffins." I wouldn't expect to be able to have an objective discussion with them about any black fighter. Ward's trunks were higher, Kov's trunks weren't that high.

Kovalev had to know Ward would go low. After Weeks warned Ward in the 2nd, there were no more warnings so SK knew he was on his own. Kovalev had said he would end Ward's career so why not retaliate? A Kovalev DQ would have been a better ending than the one I saw. For someone who calls himself the crusher and brags about finishing people's careers, to spend half of the fight turning his back to ward and faking faults in order not be hit harder is not very..... manly? He can now continue laughing at those who knocked down, at least those fighters were brave enough to stay in the fight untill the end. Not like him. It looks like mr kovalev doesnt like very much to be punched, he's not half a man when he's the one getting the punches. Sad to witness.

People acting like that was a terrible low blow are whiners. It was just below the belt, but with as high as his trunks wee it was no where near his junk. It was a shot to his abdomen. That shot maybe gets a warning 25% of the time and never gets a point deduction unless the fighter has been warned several times already. Kovalev fans aren't going to let it go, but it doesn't change the outcome. Kovalev got whipped, Ward is the better fighter. Deal with it. Exactly. Anyone who feels this was a justified stoppage either isn't a true boxing fan, such a Ward Nhugger that they dont care that it was a bs stoppage, or just flat out hate Kov and want to see him lose at all cost whether justified or not. Now I'm not much of a Ward fan but I respect his skills and accomplishments. This fight was about dead even coming into the 8th round. One can say that Kov was up 4 rounds to 3, or an argument can be made that Ward was up 4 rounds to 3. You guys can argue all day long about whether those blows were low or not. Never in the history of me watching this sport have I even seen a stoppage where one fighter gets hit with 3 questionable low blows back to back, folds over from them without going down, and the ref stops the fight! No Kovalev was not "stopped". The ref prematurely stopped it. Yes the momentum was swinging Wards way and he could have very well gotten a legitimate stoppage, but we cant predict what would have or could have happened and say things like "well Ward was going to stop him anyway". That's not how this sport works. With that said.....Kov needs to dump Kathy Duva.

The punch is on the borderline. Why do you keep acting as if Kovalev got blasted with a full power shot square in the nuts? It clearly hit the letter B on his trunks. Ward just masterfully moves his punch upwards after the hit to disguise it. If you put yourself in a similar position as kovalev was on that hit, bending a bit forward and then pull your pants up to the belly button then place a closed fist just bellow as you're in that position. The borderline gets swallowed up in that position leaving you open for a low blow going directly at the balls.
