and I'm surprised with the support for Gus in here; many boxing writers like Eric Raskin and Tim Starks occasionally make fun of his commentary, and I come across threads bashing him (just like in that thread above) quite frequently.
I think he's a pretty exciting commentator, too, but he can be quite distracting when he inserts terribly unnecessary drama into fights (as is Lampley) and when he gets excited because! he! pauses! at! all! the! wrong! times! LOL
This story and that pic changed how I look at him. The dude is just too excitable and enthusiastic (like us here) for all those dramatics to be just stuff his boss tells him he must do.

I think Ring.TV is also to be blamed for putting Roach in the poll in the first place. Even if two of his guys won, he has such a huge stable that that ratio looks like sh!t right now.
Anne Wolfe, Brian Viloria's trainer, even Miguel Cotto's new trainer, I think they've made a lot moar impact this year than Roach did.

i wish Epix would someday become a big-time player in the boxing industry, if only for us fans outside the US to get quality streams, even if we have to pay. their stream earlier for the huck-povetkin fight was frakking ace.
He acted the same way towards Marquez, probably because he knows it'll be a walk in the park, and riling them up won't be necessary anymore.
Compare it with how he treated Shane, Oscar and Hatton (guys whom he thought might have been of some threat to him) during the build-up to their fights. He kept doing and saying things he knew would definitely get into their heads and mess their gameplan come fight night.
I'll tell you what's hard to swallow. People that have only been fans for 2 years and only know one fighter coming on forums and voting in polls claiming the fighter they support is the best ever, when to anyone that knows the tiniest bit about the sport he clearly isn't. Fans that are so obsessed with one man that they will install multiple browsers just to vote on an online poll and brag afterwards how he won it.
The sad part is that you can't call them out on it, regardless of how clear you make the situation to them.
Their defenses are simple: 1) patriotism (which they use on other Pinoy boxing fans who don't join them) and 2) jealousy (which to them is what every non-Pac-fan feels about their idol)
And don't count on them disappearing after Manny retires. They're also ready to wage race wars for Donaire's sake.
I guarantee there will be a thread on Pacland begging them to vote 50 times each. :lol1:

I'm rooting for Mares because the kid is a badass, but Agbeko's so well-rounded he's scary. Even without taking into account the fact that he whooped both guys that Mares went to hell and back with (granted, it took him two fights for Yohnny).
Of course, Agbeko can be stylistically inconsistent and Mares has a higher chance if it's a brawler that shows up on Saturday.

But he was visibly weakened in the 8th with all the body shots. Who knows what would've happened had the referee not intervened. Most of the shots were clean anyway
