I've got my fingers crossed for a Froch win, but I think Taylor gets the UD.
You have to give credit to Froch for taking this fight as it shows he's got balls. Taking on a genuine world class American in the States for his defence is pretty gutsy.
It's a step up in class for Froch, but Taylor's been there, done that. None of us will know exactly how good/bad Froch is until after this fight. If, and that's a big IF, Froch gets a decisive victory, I would back his shouts to get Calzaghe out of the garden.
only because philippines is a poor country. if phill was rich they would come in their thousands. britain is rich thats the only reason hatton sells more.
You are severely underestimating the mass support Ricky Hatton enjoys. Even if the UK went all Iceland and financially imploded, his fans would still travel to watch him fight some bum on the moon. There is a large Filipino community in California which is only a car drive away from Vegas so I don't buy the 'poverty' argument one bit.
Hell, even if DLH came out of retirement and had a farewell fight in Manchester, you'd only find about half a dozen Latinos who would bother to travel. The fact is that only British fighters can routinely mobilise their supporters to follow them around the planet. The PPV statistics would only serve to demonstrate that many fighters have a lot of lazy, bone idle fans.
The problem with Jeff Lacy is that he has spectacularly failed to meet expectations.
However, there is no reason why he cannot continue as a journeyman fighter. Most mid/lower ranked SMW/LHWs would get whooped by Calzaghe, Taylor and RJJ, but people aren't demanding that anyone outside the top 30 retire (and Lacy is probably still inside the top 30). Lacy was competitive with Manfredo (shit fight, I know), but I missed the thread about retiring Manfredo.
Every fighter aspires to be champ. Lacy's done that but ain't going back. He still needs to earn a few $ and under-card fights and putting over new talent is the best way he can earn guaranteed money. There's no shame in being a mid-carder, it just wasn't in the Lacy script of 3 or 4 years ago.
Dirrell didn't do enough to deserve the win against Froch.
However, he did show that on the occasions he stood and traded with Froch, he had his number. I would expect that if Dirrell had the opportunity to fight Froch again, he would be more aggressive and I think he would expose Froch.
A defeated fighter usually has a good call to ask for a re-match after a SD loss. Once the Super 6 thing is over, I don't think Froch (if he still holds a belt) would be keen on getting back in with Dirrell.
Wow. Fair play to Audley. Looked like Sprott was going to knock him out in the 12th, but Audley pulled one out.
Useless bastard still needs to retire. Klit or Haye smash him to pieces.

Hatton's not looking in too bad a condition either. Still a bit pudgy, but not completely bloated.
**and off comes Calzaghe. Even before his botched goal, he was looking heavy legged. Shame he didn't do a Robbie Fowler celebration and 'snort' along the touch line.

nerves, he wasn't throwing back but bloody hell at least let him try and see out the round.
In a bodybag? If Duke McKenzie was on the button, he's traditional call of "he's gone!" would have been veyr apt.
You could pair any 2 of Harrison/Skelton/Sprott/Williams together, any you'd have the crapfest of the year. Hell, I'd rather watch Floyd Mayweather take a dump.
Those 4 guys are the never have-beens of British heavyweight boxing.
Thank god for David Haye.
Kessler fought a good fight and I'd like to see a rematch. Although the HBO guys rubbished Kessler's chances, I think he'd be in a pretty strong position.
It was refreshing to see two fighters who were honest ands gracious, rather than the tedious bullshit that has come to be expected from Americans (mainly) over the past years.
Rees got a comfortable decision victory.
Although I like to see a home fighter score an upset, I have to agree that it is a farce. M'Baye offered nothing. Even in the 12th, he showed little urgency (although Rees was hugging him like a crying kid hugs his mother).
Any half decent fighter who fancies landing a World Title will come knocking on Rees' door and most likely knock him out with ease.
interesting
This word does not belong in an Audley Harrison thread.
He will only ever fight (if that's the correct word) for spare change based upon his notoriety for winning gold in the Sydney Olympics.
