At the MEN Arena in Manchester, England, Breidis Prescott (20-0, 18KOs) destroyed Amir Khan (18-1, 14KOs) in less than one-minute of the first-round to capture the WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title. Major upset for the UK boxing scene as Khan was already growing into a major superstar and huge paydays were a few fights away at the lightweight division and junior welterweight division.

Prescott came out throwing bombs from the start and crushed Khan within a few seconds with hard punches. Khan went down, he beat the count but was barely able to pull himself together. Moments later, Prescott blasted Khan down again with monster punches, Khan went down flat on his back and he was out. The referee counted him out as Khan could not make it to his feet.

On the undercard;

Nicky Cook (29-1, 16KOs) boxed his way to a twelve-round unanimous decision to capture the WBO super featherweight title with a minor upset over Alex Arthur (26-2, 19KOs). The scores were 117-112, 117-111, and 115-114.

Cook used his boxing skills in the early rounds to outbox the champion. In the fourth, Arthur shook Cook up with some straight punches that were set up by his left jab. Some body shots and hard left hands would buckle Cook again in the fifth. Cook began to use his quick hands to land hard combinations in the sixth, Arthur tried to counter with some body shots, but a right hand from Cook buckled Arthur bad in the final twenty-seconds.

Cook was once again outboxing Arthur in the seventh, when Arthur got Cook in trouble when he walked right into a shot. Cook would once again return the favor in the eight with accurate punches that got Arthur in trouble. The next few rounds were close until Cook came out throwing everything he had in the final round to make sure the decision the secured.

Heavyweight Audley Harrison (23-3, 17KOs) won a lackluster ten-round decision over George Arias (41-11, 29KOs). The sole score by the referee was 98-92. The crowd showered Harrison with boos after the decision was announced and plenty of boos rained down during the slow-paced fight. Arias was stopped in four-rounds by Juan Carlos Gomez in 2005.

"Thank God for the victory. George is a tough durable guy, the crowd are always going to go with the underdog," Harrison said.
