I don't know where you guys get this pacquiao needs to eat a lot stuff when the guy weighed 145 on fight night for Super featherweight fights.
I think Alex Ariza said that.
And people actually believed him.
not at ww, he doesnt....
Pac walks around at 150. He does cut, just not very much at all.
This better not mean another vacation.
Floyd isn't getting any younger. People gave Ortiz a shot not because he was that good, but because Floyd is aging and came off a long lay off.
He obviously still has it, but coming back from another lay off might not go as well the next time.
I'm sure it's been mentioned here at least a few times, but didn't see a thread about it.
Pac has a lot more pull than Ortiz, so I doubt Floyd would even make gloves an issue, considering there are more serious disagreements preventing the fight at the moment.
He really doesn't.
It's a shame the fight ended the way it did, but it was only a matter of time before Floyd would have got a legit KO.
Floyd's right hands would have caught up to Ortiz after another 3-4 rounds.
Why would that poll even be made? Why would it be expected that so much as one person would think he deserves a rematch?
Yeah man, De La Hoya did say he would fight for the rematch. :nonono:
So, you got him beating Devin, Khan when he gets there, Mike Jones, and old stalwarts like Clottey?
Out of that list, I think Khan beats him, but he's not a Welterweight just yet.
I guess Ortiz would be #3, but the division is kind of shitty these days.
I think Jones has a good chance at beating him as well, but not 100% sold him just yet.
The whole sports world is paying attention to mayweather, his house just got broken into, rumors of him being broke from gambling, just hired a firm to investigate bob arum, almost 0 interest in his next fight.
Are we witnessing the beginning of the end? Has floyd won without even laying a hand on pac? And god forbid floyd wins in spectacular fashion tomorrow night it will make things even worse for pac
If you swap Mayweather's name with Pac's and replace gambling with domestic violence, that would be exactly where Floyd was over a year ago.
And instead of house being broken into, Floyd wasn't even allowed into his own home by some fat security guard.
This is off topic, but why do Arum's quotes always contain profanity?
It doesn't surprise that Arum is old and still has no class, just wondering if people make quotes for him and whether they're legit or not?
I gave Floyd props for giving the kid a shot.
I see a massacre coming our way though. Ortiz has nothing but youth and punching power on his side. The more aggressive he is, the more likely he'll be stopped in the late rounds.
Vera was game and had the right idea the last few rounds, but just wasn't fast or accurate enough.
Lee was just a class above Vera and has improved since the first time they fought. He did get hit with some pretty clean punches and around the 8th or 9th he looked a little gassed, but did the right thing by getting on his bike, holding, and landing very flush counters at the right moments.
Good for Lee to avenge his only loss. Not sure how well he'll do once he fights the top guys in his division.
There really isn't anything left to prove after this fight. Pascal actually has a lot more to prove tomorrow night than Hopkins does.
B-Hop has had a great career. Win or lose, he should call it a day.
Yeah, people talked about him being a part-time fighter, but they also referenced his last outing to support their idea that he would KO Floyd.
I put "thought as being hot" for DLH and Hatton because before the fights, tons of people said they would KO Floyd and pointed to the Mayorga and Castillo fights, as well as their styles and size, but after they lost, all of a sudden Oscar was old and Hatton was small.
People did say that about Floyd, but it's so ironic that is the exact same thing people said when Pac fought De la hoya and Hatton, except Hatton was shot instead of too small.
wow! pac who is a jww was fighting all the best ww, while floyd who is a ww will be fighting all the best jww and below. hahaha.
I don't think Malignaggi is the best jww. Floyd is not fighting the best anything. Oh wait, Floyd did fight best lightweight in Marquez, lol.
If Marquez just beaten MAYWEATHER we will be pretty sure that the fight between Marquez and Pac will happen.
I know, but that was easier said than done. I was rooting for Marquez because I knew he and Pac would have a third fight for sure. With Mayweather winning, I knew there would be some bs in negotiating the fight with Pac. I am a big Pac fan, but he also has a history of being a stickler in fight negotiations. The difference is Pac and Arum find a way to make fights somehow happen (DLH, Hatton, Cotto), while Mayweather has a record of rejecting fights.
I'd give Pac a lot of respect if he gave a young, up and comer like Bradley a shot. Would be an interesting fight to see how Pac can handle a younger boxer/puncher and if Bradley can handle the speed, angles, and power of Pac.
Mayweather vs. Malignaggi on the other hand? I don't think Floyd is afraid of fighting Pac, but Malignaggi? Now it's becoming clear who's ducking who to me. Paulie is the same guy who got outboxed and outbrawled by Hatton at the same time. I would have lost respect for Pac if he fought Malignaggi. I like Paulie and he's a good fighter, but doesn't belong in there with Pac or Mayweather when there are so many bigger, better, and more deserving names from 140-154.
Would rather see Bradley take on Pac. Clottey is good and I think he can handle Pac's power, but I don't think he's busy enough to keep up with the speed and workrate of Manny. I can't see Pac knocking out or really dominating Clottey, but I think he wins a clear UD.
I just want to know why the hate on Floyd! No boundaries. Just express yourselves.
How many times are we going to have a thread on why people hate Floyd? If you don't know why fans hate Floyd, then you are not a fan yourself. Most fans on here can right a book on why they and other fans hate Floyd.
This thread would have been an interesting discussion like 5 months ago. The topic got tedious, then ridiculous, now it's just retarded. Might as well post a "Who will win: Mayweather vs. Pac post." Get original with your threads.

2006 | 129 | Morales III | Ring Weight: 144 | Rehydration: 15 lbs
2007 | 130 | Barrera II | Ring Weight: 144 | Rehydration: 14lbs
2008 | 129 | Marquez II | Ring Weight: 145 | Rehydration: 16lbs
2008 | 134½ | Diaz | Ring Weight: 147 | Rehydration: 12½ lbs
2008 | 142 | De La Hoya | Ring Weight: 148.5 | Rehydration: 6½ lbs
2009 | 138 | Hatton | Ring Weight: 148 | Rehydration: 10 lbs
2009 | 144 | Cotto | Ring Weight: 149 | Rehydration: 5 lbs
144-149 = 5 lbs difference in three years.
Enough said. Until Pac's drug screen comes back positive, he's clean. People keeping talking as if Pac is huge all of a sudden when he's only about 5-10 lbs. bigger. Even though he's a little bigger now, his muscles actually looked more defined a few years ago.
But his head still got bigger, lol.
I'm a big Shane Mosley fan, but Floyd has the better legacy as he is made more accomplishments I have to admit. Mosley career was up and down from 2001 till now.
it's not 2 pounds n00b, it's not that simple.
if you're walking around at 155-160+, you're giving up more than 2 pounds of your walk around weight. not only that but cotto was having a hard time as it is making 146, as time passes by it doesn't become any easier. ask mayweather if it's easy for him to make 145 anymore, a guy who used to fight at much lower classes... fighters will tell you it gets harder as they continue to go up in weight to lose it and stay as strong as they were a few years ago in that exact same weight.
Nonsense. If Cotto had a hard time making 146, why didn't he just come in at 147 for his other Welterweight fights? Cotto himself said he had no weight issues.
As far as Floyd, he hardly ever re-hydrated more than 5 pounds for a fight. He rehydrated about 1 pound for Judah, and Floyd actually lost 3 pounds after the weigh-in against Oscar. So he is a naturally smaller guy who is not use to cutting much weight. He basically didn't want to put himself at risk like 99% of the other fighters that have to cut weight. Fighters who don't make weight at the weigh-in make an effort to bring the weight down. Floyd acted like nothing was wrong during the Marquez weigh-in and didn't even try.
He was a little hurt, but I think Cotto hurt him more at different times in the fight. Not sure what round it was, but I remember a really flush left hook landed Pac, only for him to comeback with a quick combo. That punch gave me faith that Pac can handle Welterweight power.
I think being unorthodox is what made Roy special and an atg. However, if he utilized more fundamentals, he would be more competitive than he is now. Look at guys like Hopkins and Mosley- guys who are more fundamental, maybe not as dynamic as Roy, but aren't as far from their primes as he is. If Roy found a balance, he probably would never been knocked out while still being the Roy we love.
One good example is Pacquiao. He was an unorthodox, quick power puncher with only one hand. Roach taught him a lot of fundamentals, but hasn't really changed the Pac that we loved from 4 years ago, just added more dimensions to his repertoire.
Tyson on the other hand probably wouldn't have been so great if he was more fundamental and "orthodox", because of his size, style, and physical gifts, as well dealing with guys who were way bigger, but that's another topic on its own.
Hopkins was right about Jones. Your athleticism and natural gifts fade with age, but the basics and fundamentals stay with you forever.
Yeah I was a Floyd fan from 130-140, but after he jumped to 147, I lost interest in his fights. Floyd would take it at 130 and more than likely 135. Pac faced the bigger, better names at 130, but I think Floyd was at his best at 130-135, while Pac was still learning his trade.
That said, I think Pac can beat at Floyd 140-147.
Pac of today would outclass and knockout Pac of yesterday, but do you think Floyd of today would beat Floyd of yesterday?
There's no way Pac, JMM, Barrera, and Morales beat Chico and Hernandez at 130.
Can you explain you're opinion?
Chico and Genaro were elite fighters, but they aren't legends or atgs. Chico was a tall powerful puncher, but had limited skill, bad defense, and a weak chin. Hernandez was a solid fighterand only lost to Oscar before losing to Floyd. But he was way passed it when Floyd beat him.
Either way, Floyd was better at 130 than Pac. That was the whole point of this thread.
that's pretty cool to see elite athletes sincerely complementing other athletes
Yeah this boxing vs. mma war is BS. I love both sports and GSP is one of my favorite MMA fighters at the moment. It's nice to see boxers and MMA fighters complimenting each other because they are all great athletes and warriors (for lack of a better term). Guys like Dana White and Hopkins can learn something here.
Andrew Golota could have beat bowe twice but the idiot had 2 low blow him 2 get disquilfied in both fights.
Golota showed two things in those fights.
1. That he was very talented and had the potential to be a champ.
2. He's a freaking idiot. Enough said.
