A War
Guerrero vs Cotto is a fight that can easily be made. Let Mayweather and Alexander have their sparring match. Screw it even a catchweight at 150
I'd pay a lot for that fight. It'd be interesting as all hell to see Guerrero try to rought up Cotto the way he did to Berto...and it would also be good to see Cotto come down from 154.
He didnt beat him but GGG would of lost to Floyd. And probably looked just as stupid.
The weight-draining would obviously favor Floyd...but suppose GGG got his jab going. Floyd's been touched up by a couple of good jabbers, but none with GGG's jab power.
Floyd LOOKED SHOOK up on that stage, all quiet, realized what he got into. He was about to cry. He will get dismantled Saturday night, he knows it and all the boxing poosies are feeling it too. There is huge panic and doubt in boxing right now.
Hilarious. Yea - I'm sure Floyd (and the world of boxing) is rattled.
Brook's got some skills, no doubt, but his resume reads like a who's who list of C and B level fighters. Cotto's performance against Canelo shows that he still has something left in the tank. If they fought at 154, I'd take Cotto by mid-round stoppage. If Cotto were to sweat down to 147, it'd be a lot more interesting.
billy joe saunders is the only fighter at 160 that stands a chance of going the full 12 rounds with golovkin he will lose but he may finish the fight on his feet canola on the other hand could not go 3 rounds with golovkin and will be quickly KO'ed
BJS does not have the power to keep GGG off of him for 12 rounds. No chance.
Child labor should not be appropriate either. Which Nike uses so they are two-time losers anyway (not to mention adult sweatshop laborers on top of that.)
Pac is better off without them.
That's true on the child labor front...
Suppose Chick Fil A tortured the chickens it put on your plate. Would it be righteous in your eyes simply because it is pro-life or decries homosexuality?
The closer you look, the more you realize that words like "righteous" don't apply in mass commerce. Nike made a business decision, not a philosophical one.
God, Allah, Jesus, Ra, Vishnu, whoever the jews worship (money and hollywood control i guess) are not real.
they are bronze and iron age hand me down stories created by ignorant desert goat herders who wanted to accrue wealth and power by controlling the idiot masses.
with that being said,
HOMOSEXUALS deserve to live in peace.
but HOMOSEXUALITY SHOULD NOT BE PROMOTED AS NORMAL BEHAVIOR.
Its disgusting unless it involves good looking lesbians who are in their physical prime.
How nice of you to single out the Jews for parenthetical treatment.
Let us know who these sponsors are, Pacquiao. I plan to completely stop buying Nike products after this debacle and could use ideas for new brands to switch to.
Brands that are in line with righteousness.
How will you determine if a brand is in line with righteousness? Will you investigate, or will you wait for Pacquiao to tell you (after G-d tells him, of course)?
That's not true at all. A lot of companies these days are trying to do business in a conscientious fashion. Whether it be organic, non-GMO, dolphin safe, or numerous other initiatives you will find many businesses who are trying to make a profit while still being good citizens of the planet.
If Chick Fil A tortured their chickens or kept them in dirty, abusive conditions then they wouldn't be a righteous company. But I doubt they do that though, usually when the founders of the company are good religious people that ethic spreads from the top down to the rest of the enterprise.
Yes - a lot of companies try to do the right thing, sure. I'm not saying they don't. But my point is that having noble aspirations does not make you righteous. You have to take a deeper look at a person or company before you start sanctifying his/her/its thoughts or behavior with words like "righteous."
Your certainty that having good, religious people at the top of an enteprise spreads down to the rest of the enterpise is just a tad bit naive.
It's really easy to determine. Brands that don't blackball people for defending the Bible are the brands that Christians can feel comfortable supporting.
Chick Fil A is a perfect example. They themselves have been persecuted by the gay agenda but stood strong and defended their beliefs. They would probably be an awesome choice for Manny to reach out to.
Chick Fil A would be a perfect substitute for Nike. They would keep Manny's all-male entourage of 60 (hmmmn) well-fed.
By your definition of "righteous," a company can be righteous as long as it doesn't "blackball" people for expressing religious beliefs? Suppose that same company uses child labor. Still righteous?
You don't need a single digit IQ to know that spreading gay gospel is right. If you think teaching gay practice is right, you're the one with the single digit IQ. We don't hate gay people, we just don't agree with their agendas.
What is the "gay agenda"? I'm not a big fan of that phrase, but my sense is that gay people want equal treatment under the law. It's hardly an "agenda" -- it's a matter of basic human rights.
It also says bats are birds.
And that no one whose testicles have been crushed can join the Assembly of God.
Just goes to show that G-d has contemplated every possible scenario. It's no wonder that the answer to all questions can be found in the Bible, especially if you're not accustomed to rational inquiry.
In a democracy people are entitled to their own opinions. Pacman don't like homsexuals, others do, so what?
People are entitled to their opinions but are not immune to criticism for the opinions they express. That's part of democracy too.
The man is a straight up warrior. He's the toughest fighter that I have ever seen. Calzaghe is without a doubt the greatest fighter since Ray Robinson. He was never knocked down or even close to being defeated.
Never knocked down? You trolling?
Can you blame Canelo for accepting a f&ckload of money to fight someone he should be able to knock out easily? The middlweight division will survive. You'll see.
Hopefully you learned your lesson and will research before your little PUUULLLEAEASSE type statement.
I think we have different interpretations of the word "haunt." What I was saying is that a man who has buried his son is not going go be "haunted" by his own careless, drunken comments made in the context of promoting a fight. So sure, it's a pain in the ass for Arum that he's had to explain that the intention of the comment was comical...but I doubt that kind of thing keeps him up at night.
Thanks for the research tips.
You're completely full of sht! Reference below and then leave, you are dismissed.
Controversy has been one of Bob Arum's constant companions during his half-century as one of boxing's greatest promoters.
But one line he uttered during a drinking binge in Syracuse, N.Y., while he was promoting Sugar Ray Leonard's welterweight title defense against Larry Bonds, has stuck with him forever:
Yesterday, I was lying. Today I'm telling the truth.
Business competitors have used it against him. Attorneys during court cases have inquired about it. Media have excoriated him. And fans have adopted it as his life's mantra, a derogatory profile of him.
Arum said "When I've had to testify in trials, the lawyers have even asked me about it and I've had to explain the situation."
Take it easy, killer. No one's out to get you.
But the "problem" is - Arum can never be taken for his word outright, because he is the one who once said "YESTERDAY I WAS LYING, TODAY I'M TELLING THE TRUTH". He doesn't realize those words will haunt him the rest of his life.
Please. Arum's been doing this for longer than you've been alive (presumably). He's buried his own son. You think words like that are going to haunt him? He's a boxing promoter...not a justice of the Supreme Court.
Ki
Yeah that was classic! Lmao epic speech and it worked!
Hopefully we get to see more of Atlas and hear his infamous sound bites and crazy boxing analogies!
I agree, but as Teddy once said, "You're not going to bottle the tornado if you're still napping under the dog bed."
Fights like this remind me why, for a true fan, boxing is a sport like no other...and I've been struggling to articulate why that is. A fight like this takes the fan on grueling and unpredictable journey...and that journey almost borders on traumatic. I felt the same way after this fight as I did after Martinez v. Chavez, Cotto v. Margarito I, Holyfield v. Bowe I...and even Prior v. Arguello I. Fights like this get etched in the soul of the fan.
What makes it even more memorable is that both Joshua and Wlad showed tremendous respect for each other both up to and, especially, after the fight. These guys carry themselves like true champions. Even my wife, who cannot understand my attraction to the sport, appreciated the beauty of this fight.
no man born of woman can beat him the 3 chumps may just as well give up there paper titles right now
Brave Macduff will sort him out, for he was not of woman born.
How telling that Floyd would come to the defense of another perpetrator of violence against women. If you want to make a case for racial inequality, there are better examples than a serial rapist who made a fortune exploiting caricatures of African-Americans for white consumption.
Why does he need 2 weeks to decide at this stage of his career? It's not like he's some contender or young champ who needs to weigh the risk vs reward against his future marketability...
Either he wants it, or he doesn't.
Sounds like you know exactly what he's going through. Please, tell us more about what it feels like to be dethroned after a ten-rein as the Heavyweight Champion of the World...and how easy career decisions are once you reach that point.
Not one person on this thread knows that half of what goes on in big fight negotiations. Social media just feeds the frenzy of speculation. Everyone should get a life and wait for the freaking announcment -- instead of pointing fingers at people they've never met, and opining on subjects they know nothing about.
Oh...I don't think failing to mention Jesus in the post-fight interview makes Manny a hypocrite. Manny was lost and disoriented and in a moment of weakness and delusion, failed to credit Jesus for his poor performance. I'm sure that Manny has since returned to the flock. It's a good thing the Lord is so darn forgiving!
