Bowe was probably 240 pounds there. Thats some heavy power man. Donald had an iron chin for real. It was a sucker punch too, usually if you sucker punch someone that hard they get put to sleep fast, dude just took it and didn't even flinch.
I remember that like it was yesterday. I so wanted Donald to win but he just wasn't quite good or busy enough to keep bowe off of him. he was a damn good boxer tho and a very nice person
No he wasn't. Donald is currently 47 years old and he fought Vitali in late 2002. Donald was in his mid 30s.
hmmm,,,,will have to look that up. if youre right then my bad
donald got ko'd by pillow punching vitali so lets not go too far with the iron chin talk. i mean he was 60 years old when he fought vitali but still inexcusable.
he was actually 28 when he fought vitali. I think vitali should have got more credit for that win. larry Donald was no joke
hmmm,,,,will have to look that up. if youre right then my bad
he was 34 when he fought vitali. not exactly 28 but a far cry from being an old man. he only had that one loss to bowe up to that point
Did anyone else have Solis winning the fight?
I thought tony t clearly won it although neither looked imnpressive by any means. at least the tiger has an excuse being 42 yrs old. solis is just a fat lazy waste of talent
I think so. Wilder's second best opponent was probably Harrison, and Price beat him even more brutally than Wilder did. I imagine some people will claim that Scott would beat Price, but given his total lack of power and low output I think he's tailor-made for Price.
I think he would. I also think price hits every bit as hard as wilder. its a shame he's so mentally fragile becuz he can really crack with that right hand
The same was said for a lot of other high profile fights.
Out of anyone of the current top heavyweights, Fury's probably got the best chance other than someone like Wilder who has that one-punch.
Id agree if it wasnt for his chin. it just makes me cringe when guys with half of wlads right hand power put him down. wlad is getting older tho and seemed to have trouble pulling the trigger against povetkin so father time is probably catching up with wlad and at least fury does have alot of toughness,,,so who knows what could happen
Not really, he was never all that to begin with in the first much less at heavy.
he looked real solid against golota and aereolla. he's really regressed ever since
People need to stop making a big deal about his light heavy run,,
Impressive stats but never fought anyone of note there,, he is like a 175 version of deontay wilder, or edwin valero..
His run at 175 was not really what its hyped up to be
true about his lack of opposition at lhw but he was a beast in that class and would have given any atg lwh trouble at the least imo
Besides the ko's, WIlder's technique is flat out horrible. He has NO FOOTWORK. SMOTHERS his punches when he LUNGES in with the straight right. Technically he is a mess. He's beating all these bums because he has size and power and they aren't that good.
So to say Wilder just bulls through Thompson is laughable at best. I'm a Wilder supporter, but let's be real here people.
yea,,,,wilder is so sloppy but he does have pretty quick hands and great power in his right. it would probably be enough to topple an old tony t but if the tiger hangs in there for the first 4 rounds it could get real interesting
Wins over Chris Arreola, Corrie Sanders, Kirk Johnson, Tomasz Adamek, Kevin Johnson, Samuel Peter are probably his most noteworthy.
He is also quite "fame"ous.
Will he get in, and does he deserve to?
Please don't use the Gatti/Mcguigan analogy.
he's a lock for the hof but hes not a top 15 atg. his reume just doesnt put him there altho head to head hes at least competitive with most. its a shame he lost his prime years to injury or he potentially may have made it there arguably
You just can't say, because he fought soooo many faded fighters.
He didn't just fight a faded Joe Louis, the guy was waaaaaay retired, and over the hill. And you didn't have any PEDS that has lead to this magical mexican old man boxing revival.
Frankly, Marciano fighting Joe Louis was a disgrace, and Rocky should be ashamed.
Marciano hit very hard, and had a great chin, but the Ali that fought Liston would've embarrassed him, schooled him. But then again, that Ali would've beaten anybody.
louis was actually favored to beat marciano so he wasnt exactly a corpse,,lol. that said,,,its really hard rating marciano very high. he had the big undefeated record but would struggle mightilly imo against the top 10 atg at there primes. id probably put him just outside the top 10 but thats debatable
This is rubbish. Marciano was the better boxer, they had comparable power, and Marciano was very underrated defensively. Marciano would probably stop Tyson in the late rounds after thouroughly outboxing him and frustrating him. It would be a phonebooth fight, a vicious one, but Marciano was one of the greatest to ever step into a ring, to say he only gets past the second round because of his chin is just irresponsible.
I could see tyson maybe fouling out or quitting if the rock could hang in there till the late rounds but I cant see marciano winning any other way. tyson would just be too fast imo
Walcott dropped Marciano early and so did friggen Moore!
dont recall saying tyson wouldnt or couldnt put him down or down and out. he probably would stop marciano
guess you missed the 2 times he lost. that's a shame. those were also coincidentally the 2 times he fought someone good. so weird. so if golovking retired right now he would be unbeatable because he beat a lot of bums? seriously just stop. he beat no one good.
dude,,,you underrate vitali about as much as the fools that overrate him making him a top 10 atg. the byrd fight was obviously a fluke loss. he was winning handily till he tore his shoulder. in retrospect he did the right thing by quitting instead of risking permanent injury. he doesnt have a phd for nothing. he knew when to call it a night and as far as the lewis fight goes,,,im not even going there as the topic has been beaten like a dead horse
wladimir better be paying briggs for helping to promote that joke of a fight against leapai..
yea,,,why not use a guy coming off a near murderous loss to vitali who's able to throw about 5 slow motion punches per round and still gasses. makes all the sense in the world :crackhead
Asthma...by KO.
that pathetic asthma excuse briggs always uses is a bunch of crap. my gf has bad asthma and runs marathons. the real pathetic thing is briggs has other excuses for just about every fight hes ever had both in winning and losing. hes such a piece of crap. I have no respect for him and anyone who supports him is just as pathetic
LOL @ Leapai standing up to fight Briggs. Leapai would've knocked him out right there if his team didn't stop him.
So Briggs wants to pull a George Foreman and go for the title again in his 40s?
He's gotta earn it the hard way. I say feed him to Diamond Boy.
its so pathetic that hes doing this after coming off a horrific beating to vitali and knocking out 2 total bums that make wilder's opponents look like world class. briggs is so embarrassing himself
actually briggs would almost certainly ko leapai even now. leapai is a complete glass chinned bum who was ko'd by kevin johnson and floored by an 0-13 fighter.
no,,,briggs would maybe hurt him the first round with one of his five slo motion punches but hed be gassed by the second round and be there for the taking. even feather fisted kevin johnson is better than an old shot roided briggs
Wlad's last fight was a crime against boxing. And Povetkin wanted to fight, therefore he has no excuse. He should have been DQ'd.
that fight was dreadful and wlad could have easily been dq'd but I dont understand why so many think he fights that way in all his fights. there's only been a small handful of his fights with excessive holding
@ about 2:50.
After that, Lummox is holding for dear life.
So he got hit with hail Mary punch after hail Mary punch.
What I am saying, and you do not comprehend, is that had Lummox been allowed to continue, he would have been beaten to a Pulp. Luckily he was saved so he could fight another day. Othwise he'd have taken another 'hail Mary punch'.
I agree. he was out on his feet. the ropes held him up
I can only count the two times he lost, vs McCall and vs Rahman.
He stumbled a little vs Briggs and wrestled more with Vitali Klitschko and Henri Akinwande.
Have any of you come across more knockdowns?
He often gets labelled as a bit chinny, but if he was only knocked down twice in his career - compared to other greats - those are quite good stats.
on the flip side he failed to show resiliency by getting up and winning. Id rather get knocked down many times and come back to win a few times than be dropped twice and stopped twice but then again,,I always thought lennox's chin was underrated
here it is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlPO1rnVq8Q
thanks for that link. looks like both guys are in great shape. I really hope scott can hang in there for a while so we can see what kind of stamina wilder has
What is with this clowns jaw ??? Got dropped again in R1 today , by a nobody. Yes I know he eventually won ...but...
A Deontay JAB would ko this bum !
Hang em up Price---its over
be careful there my brother. price is chinny as hell but he can crack like mad with that right hand and deontay has those chicken legs. it would be a matter of who lands first
Price-Wilder is about who lands first, not about if one guy can take a shot better than the other.
The KD seemed more like a slip and Price didn't seem hurt once he got up. Pala would also probably be Wilder's second best opponent.
I agree. as chinny as price is he hits tons harder than anyone deontay has faced and deontay has been dropped and hurt by much much lighter hitters. granted,,I think wilder would win by kayo but it would be a step up and a very dangerous fight for him. price hits very hard with that right hand
I like the idea of David Haye, but not the reality.
I enjoy watching him fight, tome it's a lot of fun to see a HW like him... but he brings so much baggage now I can't get fired up for anything he is involved in.
id rather he just retires. there's always that dreaded feeling of a good fight being scrapped whenever he's involved. im sick of the let downs
BETTER ON THE INSIDE? my friend...dont be a cunt all your life! the bum punches himself on the inside, hes rubbish. just a fat sloppy pikey. good for a car park scuffle and thats it.
fury does actually fight pretty well on the inside for a big man
Whoever wins is the mandatory.
Warren said in the conference: "Klitschko can't duck the winner because he will get stripped of the title".
dont see anything fury has that would trouble wlad. he only has modest power and is very vulnerable to right hands. cant see him lasting more than 6 or 7 rounds
I agree it's 50/50.
Chisora is more experienced against world-class opponents, and he stays in better shape now.
chisora's chin has seemed more suspect of late tho. I kinda think fury may actually stop him this time
