no fight would be easy for these two fighters. one has a superior counter-punching ability, the other one is too quick & powerful. but let me point out, pac is his prime, jmm is getting older. maybe you're just basing your conclusion to the recent fight bet him & mab. pac is no mab, he's fresher & stronger. if jmm could easily get knock down by just one punch, it's gonna be a different story w/ pac!
i didnt mean easy, i meant easier than the first, i should have said with less difficulty than the first fight. what different story? you seem to forget pac hit jmm with three of the most beautifull punches pac has ever thrown and marquez dusted himself off and rang the schoolbell to begin the boxing lessons. he wasnt even effected by those punches after the first round. now all of a sudden pac is going to easily knock jmm out, come on buddy.
i never said he won 11 of the 12 rounds, get someone to read along with you and explain. i said "he outboxed pac for the better part of 11 rounds. he did not agree to a rematch with pac for the reasons i allready stated. he did not feel a 100,000 raise was adequate compensation for a rematch against a guy he felt he allready beat. he outclassed pac a lot more convincingly than he did barrera so in his opinion marco has a better argument in demanding a rematch. jmm did not get offered 750,000 for pac or 60,000 to fight someone else. they made the offer for pac, jmm said not enough so pac went somewhere else. this left jmm with less money options and was forced to fight for less. anyone who thinks pac won more than 3 rounds needs to remove pacs nuts from his eyes when watching boxing. pac is a very good and exciting fighter but all his nuthuggers exagerations discredit what the man has actually accomplished. its like my dad can beat your dad because hes MY dad.
let me interject with a little truth here. jmm refused the pac rematch on the advice of his trainer nacho, who thought an offer of 750,000( which was only 100,000 more than he recieved for staging a classic in the first fight) was insulting and i agree. he out boxed pac for the better part of 11 rounds so he has no reason to fear pac. jmm said he wants a rematch only when the controversies regarding the fight were mentioned. in other words if marco thinks he got shafted we can do it again and ill beat him again. in my opinion he allready beat pac more convincingly than he beat marco. jmm was caught by surprise with pacs speed in his left hand in the first round. it took him less than 6 minutes to figure out what he needed to do to beat the one armed bandit. pac has improved some but not enough to trouble jmm too much. pac is just not that smart, he has to rely on his strength, great conditioning and quick straight left, he is not smart enough to adjust in the middle of the fight. jmm will have months to study and prepare for a fighter with such a limited arsenal. jmm by ud in a much easier fight for him than the first.
neither fighter is even halfway through their training so how they look now means little. oscar has never carried defined muscles so expecting him to look ripped on fight night is silly much less 2 and a half months before the fight. what was very apparent was how much naturally bigger oscar is. the more i analyse the fighters the more im convinced that floyd will not be able to beat oscar. at 154 floyd will be too heavy to take advantage of his speed and will not be as effective leading. that plus the ring size will neutralize just enough of floyds speed to allow oscar to walk him down. as far as power goes floyd cant seriously hurt oscar at any weight and hes never been hit by anyone with oscars power. it will be interesting to see how floyd will react the first time oscar cracks him with a solid left hook(and he will, believe it). even punches to the arms are going to effect floyd after a few rounds. oscar will do to floyd what hopkins did to oscar. theres a world of difference between a world class punch at 140 and one at 154.
Let me explain something. Trinidad came back from a layoff following a knockout loss to Hopkins. He fought Ricardo Mayorga, a walking heavy bag who he could look like Ray Robinson against. Then he went from that style to Winky Wright and took a humiliating beating.
DLH is coming back from a layoff after a knockout loss to Hopkins and knocked out a walking heavybag named Ricardo Mayorga. Now he's going from that easy style matchup to a puzzling one with Mayweather. Does anyone see the similarity here or are we going to believe that magically DLH, who never ever won a big fight except for Vargas, is going to magically come back and win this fight when he couldn't pull out the big ones before? I'm just speaking logically, this is an incredibly daunting and discouraging challenge for DLH.
DLH has become the hero of PBF haters, but you have to look at things realistically. DLH is Jim Jeffries to PBF's Jack Johnson, or Gerry Cooney to Larry Holmes.
nice comparison. you failed to to point out the boxing lesson dlh administered to trinidad regardless of how the judges thought dlh should have fought. what you have is the best defensive fighter with the fastest hands and best footwork facing a 6 division champion who will hit him harder than hes ever been hit, is much bigger and stronger and seems to have the motivation he has sometimes lacked in previous fights. if size and power were equal floyd would eazily beat oscar, maybe ko him, but thats not the case. as far as not winning big fights, you dont earn titles in 6 divisions by fighting little fights. they both have the chance to beat the other its just a matter of how the fight unfolds. oscar has faced fighters close to what floyd brings to the table, floyd has never fought anyone close to what dlh brings to the table. i believe the power floyd will be facing will be too much to overcome. oscar by ko middle to late rounds.
Just finished watching the video. It wasn't no big thing. Floyd was trying to piss Oscar off by shoving him a little. Getting in his face running his mouth. Oscar is too smart to hit him or anything.
If that was Toney or some real black dude there would have been trading of shots.
whats a real black dude?
i cant stand mayweather but you dont win titles in 4 different divisions by being a good fighter. you do it by being a great fighter. the only fighter or fight he pulled out of was margarito, preffering to fight baldomir for the same amount of money, which may not be brave but it is smart since margarito is much more dangerous. mayweather is a 30yo kid but he is a great fighter and hes fought some of the best in 4 divisions. whether you hate him or really hate him, he is for real
that is going to be his downfall against dlh. moving up to 154 is too much weight to carry and keep all your speed(which is floyds biggest weapon). floyd will not have the power to keep dlh off him and in a small ring he will be easier to find. floyd has never felt the punch of someone as big as dlh and even punches to the arms are going to take their toll. if you saw todays press conf you can really see the size disparity. floyds false bravado was just that, false, he would not directly face dlh but prefered to talk out of the side of his mouth.
Your statement is true but the DLH vs Tito fight was damn near 10 years ago when DLH was in his prime (1999 I believe). He was about 26 or 27 years old then & was an ACTIVE welterweight. He's 34 now, not really that active, & has been as high as 160 lbs. Even in the Mayorga fight you can tell DLH isn't the same at all. His hand speed & foot speed have slowed tremendously. He showed that he still has good power, but Mayorga was able to hit him often which he never would've been hit with those kind of punches 8 years ago. A fighter with the hand & foot speed of Mayweather is going to give DLH all types of hell. If Sweet Pea gave DLH hell when DLH was in his prime, he's in alot trouble against a PRIME Mayweather. Now if this was the DLH from 8 years ago that Mayweather's fighting, it would be a completely different story.
the difference here is that sweet pea was not naturally 10 pounds lighter and could better take the punch of someone with oscars power and could better match oscars strenght if not his power.
fighters prove themselves by beating other fighters of championship caliber. if a fighter climbs to the top by beating weak opposition in one division it doesnt mean a whole lot. if you can do it in several divisions your not just good regardless of the strength of opposition. fighters can have an off night and lose to a lesser opponent, sometimes more than once but still prove their greatness when you examine the strengh of all of his opponents.
We haven't seen how Floyd moves at 154, so you can't say if that is the downfall. Baldomir weighed over 160 fight night and Floyd will not let DLH land power shots cleanly.
They were promoting the fight, and I think Floyd was trying not to spit on Oscar, cuz he was just running his mouth off.
im surprised someone calling himself mayweather90 would be biased. its not a question of if it will slow floyd down being at 154 but how much, its just physics. baldomir and oscar are a donkey and a racehorse respectively. floyd is one of the best fighters of this generation but he has never been hit by anyone nearing oscars punching power. floyd has been cleanly hit by fighters slower and less skilled than oscar, so what makes you think he can avoid oscars punches all night. if floyd is scared it does not make him less of a man, on the contrary it makes him braver to take on a fighter whos more powerfull despite his fear. you seem to think hes fighting an average 154 pounder, dont let your love for floyd blind you, oscar has won titles in 6 divisions, hes not your average 154 pounder. floyd can definitly outpoint oscar and win if he can handle oscars power for 12 rounds, something i dont think he can do.
Ricky Hatton.
hatton? are you high? the only thing ricky posseses in world class caliber is conditioning and stamina. outside of tszyu who was about to turn 37, was plagued with injuries and had fought a total of 3 rounds in the 2 and a half years leading up to the fight, ricky has not faced a real fighter. castillo will expose him like barrera did to hammed. the only one who posted a smart answer was mbandit who suggested ricardo lopez who was practically unbeatable and mastered everything
the reason mma fighters fight for 10,000 purses is because they dont have the skill to fight for 1,000,000 purses. theres a reason even the best fighters there have losses at a higher percentages than the best boxers. boxing is a science that has been continually perfected for 150 years. extreme fighting is still in its infancy. gracie would never be able to get close enough to tyson to apply a submission hold. with those small gloves he would get his ribs shattered or head caved in the first few moments of the fight. if submissions were the dominant technique no one would practice striking.
floyd is the man
he will beat de la hoya via
tko round 1
mark my words
sillyest thing ive read on this site to date. floyd couldnt ko oscar if oscar laid on the floor and let him!
a world champion boxer would kill a world champion mixed martial artist( not ko but kill) with those 4oz gloves. boxing is a science that has been getting perfected for over 150 years, mixed martial arts is still trying to figure out what techniques are more effective. your buddy probably thinks that submissions would make the difference. if submissions were the dominant technique no one would practice striking. a pro boxers timing is so precise a grappler would get his face split comming in for a takedown. theres a reason the difference in %age of losses in the best mixed martial artists is so much greater than the best boxers, the level of skill and precision of technique is just much greater in boxing. if martial artist could fight for million dollar purses, they would, instead of fighting for a few thousand dollars. boxing at the elite level requires complete dedication, you cant compete for a title and also work at the hardware store if you want to succeed. maybe in fifty years they will be comparable, but right now its like and1 versus the spurs.
i agree with the title of thread but 1st round ko is stretching it quite a bit. hell i dont think dlh would do it even if he could just because he would prefer to punish floyd a while for mouthing off. i would
i see more oscar haters and tito groupies than actual floyd fans. oscar has been hit by hard punchers in 6 divisions and hes been hurt once( and that was by one of the greatest 160 pounders of all time), thats right once. hopkins takes heavier shits than little joy. hows this blown up 145 pounder with slightly better than average power gonna hurt dlh? no one, i repeat no one has hit floyd with the power delahoya is going to hit him with. floyd has been hit flush on the chin by 2nd and 3rd rate fighters. what makes anyone think that a 6 division champ will not have the skill to tag him? floyd is the best boxer p4p right now and if size and power were equal he would wipe the ring with dlh, but theyre not. the only way floyd can win is by decision and the only way oscar can win is by ko so place your bets.
oscar is no more vulnerable to the body than any other champion. the reason bernard dropped him is because he is a stronger puncher than than any other fighter dlh has faced and his smaller body could not assimilate the shot like he has from guys his size. floyd couldnt seriously hurt oscar no matter where he hits him.
i have played poker proffesionaly and to win the world series it takes 10 days of playing 12 hours a day. this may not compare to the boston marathon, but it certainly requires a level of physical preparation.
mayweather is the most talented fighter fighting today, his speed and defense are at a level rarely seen. he has the potential to be truly great if he stays on track. that being said, his behavior outside the ring is that of a 13yo. he may be the worst self promoter of all time. with his talent he could have made 4 times the money hes made so far, on endorsements and paid appearances alone, but because hes a jackass hes cheated himself out of all that money and prestige that comes along with being a sports icon. unfortunately for him he comes from a culture where its cool to be a pimp and scatter kids with all your hos and selling drugs is krunk. if he had the benefit of being raised by a real man things might have been different. instead he got stuck with a drug pushing father with whom hes had a
dlh will not go out of his way to fight dirty. its part of the mental warfare designed to get your opponent to prepare for that type of fight and take time away from him preparing for the actual game plan you will be using. it seldom works but every little bit helps at this level of competition. anyone who thinks floyd can ko oscar is really letting his heart dictate reason rather than his mind. and gentlemen its a waste of time to challenge joys boys to put their money where their mouth is. if they were smart enough to make the kinds of sums your throwing at them they would not be betting floyd can ko oscar.
yeah, I still would want to see the fight. I just want to see fights made, and made when say they will make them; 3 years later is bullshit.
Hatton might become a mess after fights, but give him credit, when he trains, he trains hard. He comes into fights in great shape.
i believe thats the only reason hattons gotten this far, his stammina and conditioning. outside of that he still hasnt faced a real test
Clearly, you did not see the Tsyzu fight. Hatton was tested plenty in that fight and was not clearly winning at all until late. Even then it was doubtful in my eyes.
Hatton was also tested well vs Collazo.
I think by tested, you mean we haven't seen Hatton lose yet. Perhaps when that happens, you will say he has been tested. Give the guy some credit.
He has faced some good fighters, but as with ANY fighter, there is always someone out there who is better and more challenging, or at least challenging in a different way.
tszyu was was about to turn 37, was plagued with injuries and had fought a total of 3 rounds in the 2 and a half years leading up to the fight, he couldnt test anybody at that point. collazo is not exactly a serious measuring stick when deciding how youll fare against castillo whos faced some of the best fighters in the world and either beaten them or held his own. i like ricky but but lets call a spade a spade.
Just reading some of the post on here, about Hatton...From what I see of Hatton is that hes pritty straight forward guy, I have never known him to go running off his mouth and bad mouthing other fighters in his career so far.(Maybe I got that wrong?)Mmmmmmmmm Witter maybe.. If he is looking to fight Mayweather or Oscar then does this not show that he is up for it,even though hes got more chance of losing than wining. Hes a boxer and thats what good boxers do they want to fight the best, not like some boxers who have there figters picked for them so that it meets there style! I think if he fights Mayweather or Oscar it will be a good tearup right? And thats what all us real boxing fans won't to see....Its about time some of you guys giving the fella a bad time pay a bit more respect for these fighters....I am English but when we see a good boxer from the States we appreciate what we are seeing. It seems like quite a few U.S guys on here will run down most British fighters even if there good! Whats that all about?
as i stated i like ricky and respect him for the man he is but i dont think he has proven hes as good as most of his diehard fans think he is. he may be, and i sincerely hope he proves me wrong, but i dont think hes good enough to beat castillo. i do respect the fact that hes willing to face fighters that will prove doubters like me wrong unlike other fighters who talk the talk but dont walk the walk.
mayweather is the greatest fighting cochroach of all time. you cant deny his fighting ability but anyone who defends his attitude outside the ring just doesnt understand the concepts of dignity, honor, respect and sportsmanship. things that seperate us from lower forms of life. the only excuse is that this is as far as his daddy the drug pusher prepared him for a life amongst men.
