7th or 8th round TKO and Mosley will take a beaten in this fight. I like Mosley and wish he wouldn't have taken this fight. He's gonna regret it............

Shane Mosely is no boxer! He has the ability to be one, but he abandons every gameplan that he has once he gets hit hard. Mosely much like Cotto picked a BAD match-up with Margarito. Cotto is a better all around fighter than Shane and Cotto fought his best fight against Margarito and it wasn't enough. So what does Shane see?? He doesn't see it yet, but come Jan 24th he will.
Margarito is old school !! He gets better as the fight goes on, every welterweight can THANK their lucky stars that we don't have 15 round fights anymore. If Marg had the luxury of fighting 15 rounds NO ONE could beat the guy at welterweight. I like Marg, because he's what boxing use to be.
Mosley won't fall apart, he's mentally stronger than Cotto and has shown that he can dig deep when he has to.
Are you referring to the same Shane Mosley that was so frustrated when he fought Winky in the first fight?? He actually shown me that he can get mentally frustrated and that wouldn't bode well against Margs. Shane will have some moments, but after this fight everyone will say Cotto fought a better fight than Shane.
The faster man will take the first few rounds against Margarito. But Margarito would have done enough damage by the middle rounds to slow the faster man down. By the later rounds the faster man has nothing left and Margarito's relentless pressure breaks him down.
I agree.....Margs is BLUECOLLAR, When he fights, it's like brick laying. He lays the foundation (bodywork) over the 1st 4 rounds (most of these rounds go to the other fighter), then he slowly works his way up (hooks, leads & uppercuts) rounds 5-9, rounds 9-12 the other fighter should be ready to fall, as all the work was done earlier. As a judge, I like a fighter who comes forward and is making the fight, as opposed to someone who throws a combo and gets out. Ring generalship is one thing, but I don't like runners.
My only response to this thread............Make sure you come back tomorrow night and Margs has NEVER lost to a shorter fighter in his entire carrer. TKO 7th or 8th round.
One thing I would like to add, I told a friend before the Cotto fight, if Cotto doesn't hurt Margs in the first 2 rounds then I say TKO for Margs in the 10th. Well it was 11? I like Shane, but this is gonna be ugly.
HBO has run a few spots over the last few days, but this is my main problem with boxing. Boxing is losing the younger generation due to not having enough free TV. Heck if you don't have HBO then you don't even get the fight. The Promoters have to step-up and start campaigning these up and coming fighters to free TV. Oh well enough rambling.........
HBo is as crooked as it gets... Berto is in HBOs plans to generate money so they stole the fight from Lou... they're hoping to cash in on Margarito this year giving a free fight against mosley .. Mosley is gonna have to win in convincing fashion to get a decision.. they did the same thing with the cotto fight.. i thought mosley did enough but they cashed in on cotto already and hope to again

Gotta be Bernard Hopkins for me, He's the Charles Barkley of Boxing. He tells it, like it is and doesn't care what anybody thinks. He also talks, but backs it up!! So it's B-Hop for me.
The key is not if he is a boxer or a slugger. He has both skills but he can box very well. Against Cotto he underestimated Miguel's punching power and tried to go toe to toe. He won't make that mistake against Margarito and if he does the fight will end pretty quickly. He has to be focused and I really believe he will be.
He has better skills at this point than Roy. Roy's whole career was built around his speed. Speed is gone and so are the wins for Jones. I'm not saying Shane is a world beater but he does have enough skill to win against Antonio.

Also name 1 fighter outside Winky and Forrest, that Shane has faced with more power than Margs?? Keep in mind both of those fighters beat Shane and Forrest who has one hand power (right) knocked him down. Now take into account that was about 5 to 7 years ago and Margs has "2" hand POWER, with a higher work rate than Winky or Forrest. I'm telling you, this is gonna get ugly for Mosley.
....he fights the perfect fight using a combination of bouncing on his toes and throwing hard rights. Thing is, Mosley is too macho to test his strength and that he can bang with fighers.
We all know that Margarito starts slow and will probably lose some early rounds, the key for Mosley in this fight is to finish the second half strong. But I just don' t know, there could be a Mosley/Forrest scenerio where Shane gets in trouble like he did against Vernon up against the ropes, only unlike Forrest, Margarito takes him out.
I'm on the fence on this fight as far as predictions. I'll just enjoy the fight wihout any picks.
This is why I'm picking Margs 7th or 8th TKO. Shane will get hit and he has to fire back every time, that's just who he is. Marg is just the wrong guy to do that with and I believe Shane will take a beating. I see the Vernon senario and Marg finishing him off.
Guys, I love Boxing and wasn't trying to get anybody upset. I'm sorry, didn't realize this was such a touchy subject. I never watch UFC or MMA and Boxing is always my 1st love. I just wouldn't want it to go away. As a kid we got to watch it on ABC and now we can't even get fights on free TV ESPN. That's all I'm saying..........
I'm a margarito fan or was until this hand wrap thing gets cleared up. I'll say this Shane used a B-Hop fighting style that frustrated Margs. I felt like Margs lost the fight mentally from the 2nd round on he was complaining about Shanes headbutting. The clinching is what killed Marg, he didn't know how to combat the clinching.
I just can't ingnore the hand wrap thing though! It's just totally wrong, if it was plaster, it would harden as the fight went on almost making a cast by fights end?? Has anyone ever had a cast? That $hit is hard and would be a weapon in a boxing match. I just pray and I mean pray, this isn't true.
Just because Margarito beat Cotto on workrate and power everyone thinks this guy is indestructible.. Shane Mosley is equally skilled as Cotto at this point but wont gas out like him and he may have more pop than cotto at 147 also.. Margarito gets hit alot and he can be hurt..
Have you watched Mosley fight before??? Would you consider him a boxer or fighter?? If, you answer these ?? honestly then you have your answer as to who will win this fight. Cotto was a GREAT combo fighter boxer/puncher and IMO he did all he could against Margs.
Now Margs isn't unbeatable, heck! Paul Williams beat him, but if you watched that fight Williams was #1 a taller fighter, #2 used a tremendous work rate, out punching Margs for more than half the fight, #3 had a great 12th round that also won him the fight. What I'm saying is Paul Williams fought the PERFECT fight and still barely won.
Mosley at this stage has NO chance! #1 he's the shorter fighter, #2 he's not known for work rate and is a fighter (perfect for Margs), not boxer (Williams), #3 Father time will catch up with SSM in this fight. Margs by TKO 7th or 8th round. It won't be pretty and I believe shane will take a beaten.

Finally! the FANS for once are getting a real treat!! Let's hope Margs & Mosley put on a good show. I think Margs will win in impressive fashion.
I think a lot of people are underestimating Sugar Shane's boxing skills and are chalking this up as a replay of the Cotto fight. I really think Mosley is a better pure boxer is gonna give a good enough effort to slow down the Margarito unbeatable train. The trick will be if Margarito will be able to consistently catch Mosley. Even Cotto had difficulty doing this when Shane boxed. There is no doubt power vs power Margarito has a supreme edge and Mosley know this. Shane will box from start to finish and get a split decision victory.
Hate to tell you this, but Shane is NOT a BOXER and far from it. He likes to trade and never, ever follows his game plan. I can't remember the last time shane actually used a jab. He's also the shorter fighter in this fight and remember that, as it will be a real "key" in the fight. Shane is just like Roy Jones Jr. all the ability in the world to be a great boxer, but they throw one punch at a time.
Thadrow, Marg doesn't have 1 punch KO power. What he does have, is heavy hands, that wear on you and shane hasn't fought ANYONE that throws as many punches as marg. Marg throws alot of punches from different angles and they land to the neck, bi-ceps, fore-arms and the list goes on. Take a look at Shane's face about the 5th round and see if he has the look?? You know, the kind of look like ....Man I've had enough of this.
I'll be here on the 25th, but it won't be to "gloat" about the fight. It'll be to talk about the next opponent for Marg, as his options will now be endless.
This fight WILL NOT be close!! Man, I feel sorry for any Shane fans. Shane is a really good guy, who doesn't box and when he's hit, he loves to hit back. That will be his downfall in this fight, he's going down and he's going down hard. The only thing he might do after this fight is visit the hospital (X-rays & CT scan) and talk to the police about filing an assault charge on Marg. Can't wait to watch this BEAT DOWN........
Guys, who has Shane really fought lately?? I mean any person who really follows boxing would know that he's fought Cotto, Mayorga, Vargas, Collazo ??? Cotto is the only one who deserves respect here and Marg didn't just beat him, he did something NO ONE else could do, took Cotto's (will). I love Vargas, but I'll admit, Vargas should've never been in that ring with Shane. So out of Cotto, who has Shane really beaten or been in the ring with of Marg's quality?? no one in my eye's and that's why this fight won't be close IMO.
Paul, Left out one HUGE detail, He was the taller fighter in that fight!! Shane won't be able to execute that gameplan and he's not a boxer. Margs has fought the best WW's out there right now, shane is going to be fighting the best fighter he's fought in years. TKO 7th or 8th round for Margs.
This isnt a surprise, Margarito loves fighting smaller fighters, thats the whole reason he kills himself to fight at welterweight to have a huge advantage.
If Marg was killing himself to make weight, then he wouldn't be getting stronger as the fight goes on. That should be common knowledge??
