The early rounds are the only rounds he has an option of winning if you ask me, cuz the late rounds are Tony's fo sho! I guess the other question to ask is will Shane quit like Cotto did or will he go out on his shield?
He fought unintelligently, OK. That's how he got where he is today, by fighting unintelligently. You guys are funny. He fought as good as Tony allowed him to fight that night. Cotto was on top of his game, but that wasn't good enough to keep that heat of him. I see Mosley taking a beating tonight.
Cotto didn't fight his fight. He tried to be a master boxer and that's not what he is. He's a slugger who can step outside and box if he needs to, but he's not a guy who fights on his toes for 12 rounds. He tried to be that against Margarito and paid a HUGE price for it as he was just about out of energy by the end of the 9th round.
I agree with the bringer though, cotto did fight unintelligently against Margarito and still made the fight competitive. That is why I can see Mosley winning this unless he follows the same exact gameplan as cotto.

My point is that if he would've fought smarter, from the get go, he wouldn't have needed all that movement. If you're fighting a pressure guy, you either fight him from a distance (which requires an insane amount of stamina), or you tie him up on the inside to nullify his offense.
Cotto fought very stupidly against Margarito, and he paid for it in the end.
So, basically you want him to become John Ruiz?
i noticed that you tony stans are counting on shane to run out of gas. lol yall make sure yall be here 1200am eastern standard time
So we can tell you "I told you so"???
Imagine how tired he was though after such a brutal pace.
The kid was throwing a tremendous amount of punches, combined with all that movement, well that takes an incredible amount of stamina that only few possess.

Agreed, I just rewatched it last night and I was surprised at how stupidly Cotto fought. I'm not knocking him, I sure as hell couldn't have taken the punishment he took....But there were times where he literally just let Margarito maul him, then he'd get off the ropes, and let Tony maul him on them again.
If he fights a little bit smarter, and isn't too psychologically effected by the loss, he can win the rematch with ease.

If he could have done anything differently, believe me he would have.
Indeed, he let Margarito get into his rhythm and range by not tying Margarito up, which led to him not being able to deal with Margarito's pressure as the fight wore on.
I've never been a fan of fighters sitting on the ropes, just seems a stupid thing to do as it limits your movements and you can bounce right into shots and it limits the way you can defend against body shots which is what happened to Cotto, when he sat on the ropes, Margarito just dug to the body.
I still think Cotto can win a rematch if he fights a smarter fight and hasn't gotten affected too much by the loss psychologically.

Cotto would have been fine if he just fought smarter. He let Tony impose his will on him on the ropes and in the corners, instead of just tying him up and smothering his output. There were also several times when Cotto sat on the middle rope (an effort to give his legs a break I suppose), he dropped his hands to the side and just let Margarito have a few free shots multiple times.
The 7th round was a clear example of that.

The inability to deal with the pressure made Cotto quit, we'll find out soon enough whether Mosley can deal with the pressure, if Mosley can deal with the pressure, we'll have an upset in the making.

Mosleys only hope IMHO is to be ahead after 6 rounds and hope to steal one or two more in the last half. I fully expect him to outbox Margarito early, but he is 37 and his legs will begin to go with the kind of pressure Margarito will bring. I hope Im wrong.
You're pulling for Shane. That's interesting. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Truthfully, I can't wait, it should be a good fight.
I have Margarito winning a decision actually but I wouldn't be surprised if Mosley wins.

You got a good point there he did make the choice to go down on his own. But he couldn't find a way to adapt to Tony's style. That inability to adapt made him quit. Shane's not a quitter, but he does have problems adapting. At 37 years of age and against a monster like Tony, I don't know if he'll quit or go out on his shield, but he will not make it to the final bell.

It's just what I observes, I could be wrong. Of course, the physical side of that fight was bad for Cotto but the way he knelt down was him not being able to take anymore mentally and I didn't like the way he was looking in the corner before the last couple of rounds started, as I said, I could be wrong.
His corner has not exactly been great at giving him advice on how to adapt, his father normally goes back to saying the same things over and over again. He's never stopped trying to win when he was clearly behind.

There's an insane amount of hype surrounding Margarito since his vanquishing of Cotto last June. Margarito is not nearly as great as his supporters make him out to be. He's still extremely slow, very sloppy, and is not a threat to anybody who can give him angles, mix up the footwork, and keep away from him.
If Shane's legs hold up, he's a very live underdog in this one.
Is that what Cotto told u?

A part of not being able to adjust is mental.
I've seen many a time a corner give specific instruction and the fighter simply unable or willing to carry it out.
