Congratulations to Lamont Peterson. This guy has (and is) definitely taking the hard path in the boxing world.
Personally, I would like to see him up against either the likes of Lucas Matthysse or Devon Alexander as his next opponent ; as I do believe Khan is on another level when compared to the Washington-based boxer.
I truly find it hard to see Lamont taking the W if that match up were to materialize.
I am putting 10 million on Anselmo Moreno to win tonight's fight! PM me if you are interested! It's gonna be a great night of boxing for sure! :headbang:
which card starts first: Lara/Vanes or Mares/Moreno?
Top Rank has been showing the non-televised undercard on their website. You can go on to http://www.toprank.com now, it's in pretty good quality as well might I add.
Not so sure if Golden Boy does the same for their cards.
Mayweather's is next.
(lol) It's not even just the 0's, but this has been a great year for underdogs. In all the years I've been following boxing (Pactard since '01, hardcore fan since '07) never have I seen so many 0's go in this short amount of time. What a year.
I found myself hopping on the bandwagon yesterday, only for the hope of seeing Berto get what was coming to him. But today, I gladly stay on board the bandwagon.
The dude fought with a ton of heart and determination. There were instances (round 6) where I thought Ortiz would have taken the easy way out, but I was proven wrong tonight. Big ups on Ortiz, that win made my night.
Pac-fans and Floyd-fans are okay when compared to the Sergiosexuals on these boards. ;) Seriously, that dude has not beaten anyone of worth and escaped with a draw against Cintron. (smh)
// end sarcasm.
Pac fans love Pac as a fighter
Floyd fans are in love with Floyd on a personal level, like a spouse
Pac fans like to watch Pac fight
all Floyd fans do is make excuses for him not to fight
why are Floyd fans so protective of him?
if he's their favorite fighter, you'd think they'd enjoy his fights
Floyd fans are on that "I don't want my man to box" shit
and why are they obsessed with Floyd's money?
most Floyd fans are females or faggots
-Pac-fans obsess about Manny as if he were God.
-Floyd-fans feel a romantic connection between them and Floyd.
Though on a serious note; no particular group of fans are bad, but some of the individuals themselves.
147 was stacked when Pac came in. Coincidentally, it was also around the same time Floyd "retired". Now that he demolished the top guys, its weak? Gtfoh with that shiit!
The welterweight division was dying down when Pac came in actually. Margarito was recently brutalized and along with Cotto. Mosley was the clear champion at the weight.
It was, however, the best business move for Manny.
I believe Manny would be more popular with the hardcore boxing fans if he were to stay at 135-140, but he would not have the mainstream success he is currently having.
Oh, no you din't! :twak:
Timothy Bradley has fought quite a few contenders and has earned his respect yet he's gotten less attention than Berto. Timothy Bradley is the kinda' fighter few casual fans know about, which is a shame really.
But anyway, how can the thread starter even call Bradley overhyped when he hardly even receives any?
Bradley is not even OVERhyped because he isn't hyped to even begin with. Any serious boxing fan (who actually follows boxing besides Pacquiao/Mayweather/Cotto) should give Bradley respect.
Facts:
-Timothy Bradley went to Junior Witter's hometown and took his belt...went to the champion's hometown...to take it...wow.
-Timothy Bradley got clipped with a monster hand that dropped him on his ass in the 1st round against deceiving power puncher Holt, kept his composure, and decisioned Holt. He looked like he had been knocked out the moment he got caught. Anyone who saw that live must've gone "Oooooooooooooooh!"
-He was scheduled to take on Marcos Maidana after Maidana disposed Ortiz in 6 epic rounds but the fight was cancelled when Maidana pulled out because of "back injuries".
-Timothy Bradley's last three opponents' combined record is: 77-0...Devon Alexander, Luis Carlos Abregu (@147), Lamont Peterson.
The reason I defend this guy as if he were Puerto Rican is because he's earned his position at 140. The only guy out there that he needs to take on is Khan, which could very well me made by Summer this year. In addition to that, Bradley always come in great shape. You want to see someone who absolutely doesn't slack off in training? THIS is the guy. He's always in tip-top condition.
The only bad things about him are:
-Headbutts. In his fights with Campbell, Abregu, and Alexander, the headbutts have been known to be of some significance as they caused cuts in those fights. They have all been considered unintentional.
-Lack of power. For a guy with a lot of muscle and in fitness, you'd think he'd have more pop in his punches but he doesn't. I'm aware that muscle doesn't equal power, but it's strange to see that he doesn't have a power punch that sends his opponents reeling. He makes up for it in speed, though. Bradley is fast.
I'm rooting for him against Khan! WAR BRADLEEEEEYYYYYYY!!!
You forgot to put quotation marks for Maidana's back injuries so I fixed it for you. The back injuries never actually happened.
Also, I find it funny that people today claim Bradley is ducking Maidana. Fucking NSB, man. Fucking NSB.
Jumping on the bandwagon just for this fight. This is aimed more towards my dislike for Berto, but why not. I like Ortiz's overall skill set as well.
Will hop off as soon as Victor quits though. :D WARTIZ!!
