Give the man his props here, he fought like a warrior and earned all the respect that was lost for him, Congratulations to the new WBC Welterweight Champion Viscious Victor Ortiz!
He didn't completely redeem himself to me. He earned back most my respect, but it helped that Berto let Ortiz tee off and stay in a comfort zone.
Still, complete props for living up to his talent in that ring. He deserves all the recognition he will get for this victory. Ortiz had the talent, and brought it.
So then what else must he do to "COMPLETELY" redeem himself? He beat a way better fighter/boxer than Maidana in Berto. If Maidana gives Victor a rematch, will he then redeem himself "COMPLETELY?"
i gotta get in here. dude was NOT going to lose last night. i was impressed with his desire and his tight short punch power. it wouldn't hurt him to duck once or twice after throwing his combos (this would kill him vs floyd) but im impressed with his fortitude and strength at 147.
he proved me wrong. props to ortiz. i look forward to watching him fight again.

Strange, I found myself rooting for Ortiz tonight. While far from a fan I congratulate Ortiz on a great win and a very entertaining fight.
Same here, he won me over with that performance. He reminded me of JMM getting back up from a vicious KD and dominating for the remainder of the fight.
I thought Ortiz was gonna fold after getting knocked down but he showed balls. He got caught coming in but still fought coming forward the whole fight even though he was ahead. Major props to Ortiz.
Yeah I thought it was over right then and there, ortiz got tagged like crazy after that ugly right that dropped him, but the way he got himself together and dropped Berto was incredible.

I found myself hopping on to to the bandwagon yesterday, only for the hope of seeing Berto get what was coming to him. But today, I gladly stay on board the bandwagon.
The dude fought with a ton of heart and determination. There were instances (round 6) where I thought Ortiz would have taken the easy way out, but I was proven wrong tonight. Big ups on Ortiz, that win made my night.
That's right He didn't sit on his lead or run away to avoid getting caught, he came forward and took chances even though he had the fight in the bag...what more can you ask from the kid??
congratu-****in-lations victor!!!! man, he was truly vicious tonight...wish him the best in the future. was rooting for him tonight, but all i asked for was him showing his heart, win or lose. he showed his talent tonight, congrats champ!...great night!

To all these fags here hating on Ortiz.....look at him now!!
Easy there buddy, we all give the man his due credit, he fought his heart out and beat a very good, undefeated, and much hyped fighter in Berto. I am beyond impressed with the kid, I wish him all the best of luck! And yes I was one of those....Ortiz haters to a certain extent, but that was only because of the Maidana stunt, personally i've always liked the kid. Glad he's a champ now he really deserves it.
Much respect to Victor. I always like the dude (no homo), and wish him the best in the future. He showed true heart and grit tonight, and I'm happy he's now a belt holder.
Both men should be commended what a great fight for us fans.
Ortiz...Yes. Berto...Not really. Berto was expected to blast through Ortiz and land a possible fight against Floyd, Ortiz jumped from Jr Welterweight and challenged the much hyped Undefeated Welterweight Champ and beat him in every area of the game...I give mad props to Victor because he was supposed to lose in almost everyone's eyes, myself included.
Man how much respect does this kid deserve?
He won his first world title off Andre Berto. People will discredit Berto now, but that was a big ****ing order Victor was served tonight. Andre had never seen anything like Victor before, Ortiz had him looking strait scared in some spots.
Fight of Ortiz's career? Probably. The kid never gave up. He silenced everyone out there (myself included) who had questions about him.
First Morales-Maidana, now this. How lucky have we been this month?
