First of all he fights with his hands too low and gets hit a lot, second IMO he does not have a great chin. PWilliams knockd him down and Williams is not known to be a real heavy puncher, He has been rocked by Pavlik and Dzinzurik. I believe Krikland and Angulo have a good chance of beating him because of their great chins and tremendous knock out power, especially Kirkland!! Martinez has not been tested by anyone like those two guys!!! Im not hating, IMO Martinez should be P4P #2 right under Pacquiao, im just expressing my opinion on what I believe will be his down fall!!!!!!!
sounds like you're describing a glen johnson......
glen imo WOULD have been a bad style matchup for Martinez, although he might be too old at this point.
still wouldnt mind seeing the fight happen.
when did pavlik and dzinziruk rock him? people have access to these fights so making up things doesn't work. if you wanted to say he has a bad chin why didn't you reference the first richard williams fight where he was knocked down twice? oh yea you have never seen that fight and even if you had seen it you would never remember the events that took place in it correctly.
Martinez has great handspeed and he controls range very well, the only reason he drops his hands is to invite his opponent to punch so he can dodge it or slip it and make you pay, usually with more then 1 punch.
Besides that he's always well conditioned, which is why Angulo & Kirkland would have problems with him in the later rounds.
Sergio Martinez and well conditioned does not belong in the same sentence. Sergio took a breather for 2 round against Dzinziruk. against the guy with no head movement, no defense and no power.
This is the jab, your next post will no doubt be about how Angulo will KTFO Segio.
Where does it end!!!?
Yeah, I think he threw Kirkland's name in there to disguise the true intent of his post.
Serg will likely lose to a guy that can crowd him at close range, negating his footwork and counter punching, and deplete his stamina, which is not his strongest point.
The only person who was able to so that was Marg. But I don't see any fighter now that will be able to do that to him.
You really think fighters like Kirkland and Angulo can expose those flaws? I don't think so.
If they ever fought Martinez, it will be Sergio exposing their flaws. Especially Kirkland, he's a knockout just waiting to happen.

he can also get dropped by correctly placed right hands since his hands are always low.
I can definitely see someone like Lemieux KOing Martinez, once Lemieux starts getting better and Martinez gets older.
The concept of martinez putting his hands low

Once Martinez has found his range against the opponent and knows at which distance the opponent cannot hit him, he will keep his hands low.
The benefits to martinez for keeping his hands low are:
1 ) Balance! It is easier for him to move swiftly with his hands closer to his waist level than in front of his face.
2 ) Going to the body.
3 ) Landing the counter hook.
4 ) Protecting against body shots.
5 ) Baiting the other fighter- this helped martinez get first knockdown of dizinziruk in round 8
6 ) Creating a clinch.
7 ) Conserving energy.
anyone who thinks kirkland or angulo have a chance are being ridiculous.. martinez would destroy them both.. hed def KO kirkland.. Kirkland isnt any good, look very sloppy and sluggish in his last bout..
Okay im being rediculous!! In boxing no fighter ever has a punchers chance!! Especially heavy punchers!! :wtf1:

Really? Then why didn't he roll over him the first 3-4 rounds of the fight? Like i said, he started looking better and won a few of the middle rounds, but it wasn't chance that cut both his eyes, it was Martinez.
IMHO Martinez learned from the first Williams loss and made sure he had enough to finish big, and he did that.
Right Martinez's punches cut him and thats what gave him the edge!!!!!Id like to see a rematch some day!!
I dont like Pavlik but he was turning things around before the cut!! If it wasnt for the cut I think Pavlik would of rolled over Martinez, he is so much bigger than Martinez!!!!!

Give me a name of a good fighter Pavlik has knocked down with one punch!! I mean he breaks people down through rounds, kinda like MArgarito but Pavlik has no tremendous KO power!!!!
Yes he does have big power and can hurt his opponents bad early in the fight.
Pavlik was gaining control of the fight, and won a few of the middle rounds before he got cut, but he was not winning the fight.

all fighters do!! I just though i mentioned martinez's flaws, i mean im not hating on him. He is an exciting fighter and i root for him against anyone!!!
the making of greatness is a fighter who recognizes his flaws but overcomes them
A big puncher will finish him, and honestly I think a focused well-trained Pavlik could. He was winning the fight, and on his way until the eye opened up.
