There are reasons why both guys could win. One thing is for sure froch would take him into deep waters ... be interesting to see how GGG would fare after 8-9-10 rounds pounding against a guy who's taking everything he's got and is still firing back.
We kind of overestimate Carl's chin. He's been down from lesser opponents in Taylor and Groves.
Problem is that despite GGG winning comfortably on Froch's initiated poll (funs choosing his opponent) Carl doesn't want to fight. Chaves is a bit more lucrative and much much easier so I understand why he's going that direction. Too bad - that would be great fight to watch.
This is true but it's one thing putting Carl down and another keeping him down/making him quit. Even the best of chins can be cracked that's for sure and I do favor GGG in the fight but only barely and froch can crack too and is the bigger man with more proven pro record so I don't see GGG walking through his shots and completely intimating him with his power etc like he can to the guys at 160. I see it going into the late rounds and who knows how the extra weight would affect GGG then?
I agree on that - can't see GGG going through Carl as he does with MW's. However I don't agree that Carl wouldn't care about GGG's punches.
He scurred a Ward. Hell, even my man Dirrell would whoop the ish out this garbage ass Youro bum. But his complekshun the only reason why HBO give a duck bout him. He even ducked Quillin and yall tryna say its the other way around.
Like he did in amateurs?
Yes he has to fight him according to wbc but I don't get why people are holding it against him if he doesn't wanna fight him. He doesn't belong at 160
Than drop the belt and stop pretending to be lineal MW champion.
well, for starters they should make the fights availble for those who wish to purchase the Ppv but don't have cable. now obviously u dont need HBO or showtime to buy a corresponding PPV,however u do still need a CABLE/satellite provider to buy it. some people simply do not have this as they do all of their media/TV/movies online.
if it's a golden boy ppv you should ideally be able to go to golden boy . com and buy the ppv stream from there. the fact that this hasn't been played with yet is outrageous. i think top rank does it but only sometimes, however it gives you the top rank feed instead of the hbo feed which to me is not a problem.
it should warn potentials buyers first and foremost the required mbps speed required to play smoothly so lame ass poor folks dont get all pissy when it starts to get choppy on their 3DL/1UP internet plan from AOL
they also need to lower all ppv prices to $50 for HD and remove SD from the picture entirely, who the fuk buys SD anyway?might as well catch a stream.
aint that the price of UFC PPVS? also WWE PPVS?
Thanks for your post. This is very interesting and I agree that this is strange that they don't sell/stream PPV online. I'm Russian, Moscow - I never buy PPV because US providers don't operate here. I would buy it if it was available online (I would prefer HBO coverage thought)
I would not buy Canelo - Khan anyway. Question when Khan gets KO'ed spectacularly is not that interesting. Khan always deliver and who cares in which round he's over?
Why pay for this BS fight....I saw it on my phone through an app.
People are going to stream BS PPV fights that are not worth paying for...Crawford/Postol is the next PPV stream :)
If they did 320 than this is a good number considering total mismatch/no contest. Khan drawing power in US is... 30-50k ppv buys? I may be wrong here but I don't think that Khan added much to the table.
If they did 500k + than it's a huge success and it proves that Canelo is actually a PPV star. Don't be mislead by Pac vs May numbers - those are not indicative. 2nd and 3d biggest PPV attractions sell 900k (Canelo/Cotto) and on paper it was competetive. I think that if GGG/Canelo makes more than 750-800k than it will be huge. It's competetive only on paper (at list 50% of potential buyers know that Canelo is no match to GGG) and GGG is not a PPV draw yet.
Hmm I dunno Kov seems to only like to throw good shots when going forward and when he isn't going forward doesn't look all that to me.
It's obviously more complex than that but either way it'll be interesting to see how it goes.
I feel whatever happens with hindsight the neutrals will all think, thats obviously how it was going to go.
Have a look at Sillah fight when he dropped him 1st time.
After really examining i hopkins is gunna win by decision. I was there live front row for sillahk vs kovalev and i know how hard he hits but after watching kovalevs fight vs agnew and even campillo who he destroyed theres no way he beats bhop bernard is gunna frustrate him be dirty and win a decision kovalev doesnt hit the body well and is very predictable..this whole time i was thinking about kovalevs power but it wont matter he hasnt fought guys at bhop level and fought guys who just stood there with theyre hands upside their head blocking and letting him tee off like agnew..BHOP DECISION
Tell it to Agnew and Caparello - both taken down by a bodyshots that didn't even look like something special :)
Everytime Kovalev hits you it hurts - no matter where (even if it's shoulders and arms). Problem is that he moves and fires combinations on the move. He doesn't need to stay planted to deliver a powerful blow. He hits very hard WHILE moving. Hopkins is a true legend and top ten ATG. But who was he fighting lately? Murat? Shumenov? Paskal is OK. He lost to Dowson, to rabbit punching Joe and Taylor (2 times). So it's not like he's unbeatable. But none of those guys that he lost to (well Joe does but those are not really punches) throw a lot of punches and non of those are considered as heavy handed.
I find it amusing that many say that all that Kovalev has is just power. Many said the same thing about GGG but as fights go by there are less and less people who don't see the skills. Same thing to happen with Kovalev. Mr. Popescu gave a good description of Kovalev - Mobile power.
The only thing that worries me is that Hopkins will fake something in the way he did it in 1st Dawson fight.
Maybe not excellent. I wasn't saying he's Hopkins or Floyd or Rigo. But he typically sticks to fundamentals and the knockouts come because he hits so hard, which is different from Kovalev or Matthysse who are purely punchers.
Comparing Matthysse with Kovalev in terms of skills is a bit over the top :) Kovalev is a very well schooled amateur with 215 fights.
But I do admit that Golovkin is somewhat more polished than Kovalev. Mattysse is in fact just a puncher with everage skills.
People tend to think that it's just because of punching power that Golovkin and Kovalev win their fights. Yes - punching power makes huge difference. But if one simply counts punches landed by Golovkin or Kovalev and their opponents it would be obvious that not only power make them win those fights. As you can see by IronDan's reply many still see Golovkin as so-so boxer. That's to be expected because punching power is something that is easier to see.
I can see the built in excuses being made already. I get it. So when the Krusher loses to Bernard, it's going to be all the referee's fault for allowing Hopkins to bend the rules so that Kovalev wouldn't be able to fight his kind of fight. They are already preparing in spinning it to make it less about Hopkins' brilliance at the age 49 but more about the corruption and incompetence of the rigged officiating.
One can also say that there are build in excuses being made already. So when Bernard loses to Kovalev it's just because he's got old overnight.
I will say that if Bernard wins he's easily top 10 ATG.
Great respect to BHop for taking this fight and he shows that he's got one hell of the chin. That 12th round was really dangerous for his health.
Great win by Sergey - now there will be less experts claming "face first browler", "mindless puncher" etc.
Grandpa by KO, with a shot Kovalev didn't see coming.
Please remind me when was last time when Grandpa KO'ed a light heavy? Did he ever? He could not even finish off Murat and Shumenov. Just imagine what would Kovalev do to those guys. I'm not saying that BH doesn't have a chance. But predicting KO is a bit overoptimistic.
Anybody know kovalev's ring walk music ? He comes to the ring every time playing the same song but I can't find the name of it my where. Thanks
LOL. It's russian band song. Song start with words " I could have drinked the sea and become someone different - forever young, forever drunk" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ga7nShRE4U
10-2 or may be 9-3 if you really favor Jr. Even in those rounds that Lomachenko gave away Jr. wasn't doing any meaningful damage. It wasn't close by any means and it looked more like shut out.
Well the fact BJS wasn't bothered by the shots I'd it bodes well considering how much people were touting Jr's punching power. And he only got caught at all after 6 rounds when he had slowed down.
I love BJS I won't lie but I give him a legitimate shot at beating GGG....his run of fights have prepared him IMO....Sullivan, Ryder, Eubank Jr all pose a danger in punching power(I know they aren't on GGG's level)
I see the potential for special in Saunders...I just don't see it in GGG(or Quillin, Jacobs or any of the others)
Damn why did the boxing Gods have to cut Pirog's of all fighters careers short?
Some of UK fans are just funny. They DKSAB still it doesn't stop them from posting funny things.
GGG fans doing damage control gonna act like he utterly dominated murray lmao
No! It was Murrey dominating GGG entire fight! Being dropped 3 times and TKO'd in 11th. Yes! Murrey was outboxing GGG easily while taking a beating of his life.
He isn't designated lineal champ, he won that in the ring. The guy most posters say is the #1 contender to Cotto's title was actually designated WBA champ without winning it in the ring.
If there is any debate that is warranted, not that there is, it should be about who the rightful WBA champ not who is the lineal titlist.
Any argument about Cotto's lineal title is a waste of time.
Do you realise that if Cotto gets stripped it will be because he is not willing to defend his lineal championship? This lineal thingy is not something that ones taken can be kept forever. It has to be defended.
I do like Cotto. But him and Stivenson really devalued the meaning of lineal championship 2014-15.
No more blaming Loeffler, it's come out of his own mouth that he wants 164 only for Ward. What a chicken ****.
OK, I get that. But when Ward met Dowson at 168 (refusing to move even a pound) who Ward was than? To you logic he was even less than a chicken. Am I worong here?
Dawson issued a challenge to Ward to fight at 168, Ward accepted. Not the same.
You may be misinformed. Ward insisted on 168, Dawson didn't want to but had to oblige. Point is Ward made him come down to his weight not that Dawson wanted to.
With this clear - who was Ward when he made Dawson come to his weight (not even in the middle)
Kovalev is a solid fighter. He fights smart and uses his jab well, plus he punches hardou. It won't be easy for Ward. I would say GGG is overrated not Kov.
You should listen to Kovalev's interview on that matter.
I think Canelo has a very good shot at beating GGG. GGG would get clowned by any atg middleweight of the past for sure imo, yet his nuthuggers think he's better than Prime Hagler or Roy Jones Jr. lmfao. GGG's team will price themselves out of the fight more than likely... hell that one article GGG thinks he deserves 50/50 .
Please tell us what do you think would be a honest split for Canelo vs GGG? Let us know the limit after if GGG is asking more that we have to think that he's pricing himself out.
Lastly - do you really think that GGG is ducking Canelo and pricing himself out of the fight with Canelo? If so than may I ask you to explain me your reasoning?
Thanks
Ted
Gennady is an offensive wrecking machine who leads with his front foot. The only way to defeat him is by getting your punches off first and overpowering him and not by out boxing him because he cuts the ring off too well. Brook had hardly any room in there to move in that ring.
If a fighter can force Golovkin to fight off the back foot, either through punching power or just simply by out mauling and brawling him on the inside, he will then find himself in a vulnerable position because he does not counter punch at all.
Have one noticed, once his opponents start unloading punches on him he rarely throws anything back?
How many Golovkin fights did you see???
That's good. It should be obvious to anyone by now. Golovkin is a good but limited guy who can punch very hard and that's it. There are no other special aspects to his game.
Calling yourself BoxingXpert? Are you kidding??? What a joke :)
