Peter Manfredo Jr. "The Pride Of Providence/Italian Stallion"
WINS by KO over
Joe Calzaghe "Pride of Wales/Italian Dragon" :boxing:
..........................on the playstation
as much as i hate his personality theres no doubtin the man is great but i think he should keep fightin for a few more matches till about 40+ then retire (i dont mean his age) then it will be remembered more
lol, Manfredo will floor joe? what you been smoking
lol agreed. but if Joe has the tendency to perform bad against the underdogs and brilliantly against the top boxers. i reckon we're in for domination from Joe or a sneaky win by Manfredo i can't see Joe wining any other way and the same for Manfredo
Last night's fight brought several thoughts to mind.First Calzaghe said in the pre-fight segment that he wanted to show that he is not just another "protected European fighter".
I would have then asked...so why fight a game show loser?
Who's next?...the loser of 'American Idol' or 'the Price is Right'...
Then,Calzaghe throws a sustained flurry against his over-matched opponent...of which TWO land, and the ref stops the fight????
And here's a couple of things that struck me.They must really love Calzaghe there...there were no boos when the stoppage came.I mean in America,we know a farce when we see one.
But those folks there just applauded like Calzaghe had really done something.
Which as they said before hand, there are not many sports heros in Wales...so I guess thats why you can get 35,000 to actually pay to see this farce, which became a joke.
A joke that is,on the average boxing fan...
And its funny, the very thing Calzaghe said he wanted to disprove...is the very thing he looked like,'a protected European fighter'.
I believe that Calzghe is a very good fighter. How good I don't believe any of us truly know yet.But in order to be considered great, you must risk something.I learned on the show that he has never fought outside his comfort zone...and only twice outside Britain.
So to the average American fight fan,he apppears much closer to Brian Nielsen than a true all-time great. He appears to be a 'protected European fighter'...who can actually fight.
And speaking of European fighters,Hatton unlike Calzaghe is at least trying to conquer the world.I have knocked his opponents, but at least he is fighting in the USA and out of his comfort zone.
Calzaghe must fight Taylor,Hopkins or Kessler in his next outing...or he will be just another PEF in my eyes.Great for him,his bank account and fans...bad for real boxing fans.
you must have taken a bad blow to the head at this point mate. once the fight was stopped there were a good few boos. the crowd even thought the fight was stopped a bit to early. but in all honesty can you blame the ref? Manfredo wasnt hittin back he barely kept his hands up.
a fighter doesnt become a legend or even an impressive fighter just because he has beaten one very good opponent. you need to fight a few very very skilled boxers, fight the best there is and if possible be in a few wars. i agree with some of you that if he fights kessler he will be closer to the legendary status, but as of now i think is a very good boxer who has beaten some very able opponents but needs to fight better.
well according to a lot of people the tournament actually happened.
if u believe what a lot of other people said about this "tournament" u must b on somefin because this has been a fake story for a while now
yea some of this stuff doesnt surprise me because there has been quite few inncidents of this stuff but what does make me wander is how the person visions what is goin to happen i dont get that part is it a mental glitch or somethin
i doubt that floyd will trade with hatton. If he gets to close to hatton i reckon the win is in his favour, but if floyd uses his guerilla tactics, the fight should be in floyds favour
Whats worse is that they will deny that they do that until the end of time. When it is so obvious that is what they are doing.
Some people hate admitting their wrong at these things though. It's a mental illness IMO
any of you ever watched bad boys 2? use that woosaaa technique it really makes you chill the fuck out. the guy is only sharing some info with us, i dont see the benifits in being harsh about
I personally feel it's better to root for someone respectfully but I feel you 100%, sometimes it's better to just not predict a winner, to just watch the fight and hope the guns go pop and the action is worth the money, when fights like that go down you'll be happy either way because you got to see a good fight, you get what you wanted. I pick Floyd because I can't help but dissect into the fighters styles and IMO Floyd got it but I feel where you coming from, thats how I was when Barrera fought Naseem Hamed, I fell back on the predictions and till this day I still remember how hyped I was in that fight because to me either could have won, it was no preference but in a more recent fight with Taylor and Pavlik I was kind of disappointed that Taylor couldn't pull it off, I give Pavlik 1,000% respect but I was really rooting for Taylor so when he lost I was more like "FUCK!!", I can see how it took away from the way I viewed that amazing action packed bout, had I not picked anyone my reaction to the outcome would have been way different on the real.. 100
i get you about the pavlik fight mate. i was sort of the same with the third morales/pacquiao fight in a way were i knew both fighters had great abilities but i just leant more towards morales and when paqcuiao won i was sort of upset but the fact that i did rout for one fighter made me more hyper about the fight. Also about the fact that we should be happy the fight happened, %100 agreed there because this fight was always an "IF" so i was very pleased its happenin now. I understand your reasons for floyd, the man does use a sort of Guerilla tactics but hatton hits and binds weighing down a fighter and tiring him out so this can (and probably will) go back and forth. Their contrast of styles will this fight a very interestin one. :)
I think he's facing a BIG threat in Ricky Hatton, Floyd likes to say "38 have tried, 38 have failed" but if Ricky wanted to he can say "43 have tried, 43 have failed", whats a bigger number? Ricky ain't no chump he's just going against the most skillful Boxer of this era in Floyd, I pick Floyd but in no way is Ricky a bum, not only is he a TRUE class act, humble and generous, he carries himself respectably in and out of the ring, that and the fact that he's beaten everyone he has ever faced in the professional ranks, has more wins and KO's than Floyd, has beaten Kostya Tszyu into submission something that Mayweather didn't (not couldn't, I believe he could) do and has a relentless style. Ricky is no chump but in terms of beating Floyd? nah.. 100
Agreed. apart from the floyd win part, i have no idea who to pick and i think its better that way because come the night of the fight i wont be routing for any fighter, il just be looking for a good fight. Your right ricky is very humble. He heads into town to the local pub and throws some arrows with the locals and i cant say floyd does any of that type of stuff with his locals. I think with Hattons humbleness itl be hard for floyd to get at him mentaly, making this an interesting fight in many ways because no fighter will be coming in, guns blazing because they're annoyed. Can't wait!
im not sure as for a reason. Maybe he the night before added to it. I would'nt put it down to nervesjust incase anyone is thinking about it, corrales had them in abundance.
Floyd didn't seem the fighter he is at the lower weight classes when he was light middleweight so against a super middleweight like joe, id go for KO9 calzaghe
Some people hate Floyd because of his pure cockyness and arrogance towards other fighters who have accomplished much in their careers. Im not saying Floyd hasn't because that would just be simple lies. We know what he has achieved but some people don't see the reason in him remiding us all the time or saying hes the best ever when there may be greater fighters before him. I don't hate floyd but i can see why other people do.
If Hatton wins excuses will be made to protect Floyd in one way or another just the same as if Hatton loses, its just the way some people are.
I'd rather just sit back and let them state their opinions on the man.
He does look a bit on the chubby side but "two fisted piston" why do you hate ricky so much? jealousy? or is it just the fact that you think you think you could beat him in a fight? cause if you think you can youd just get :owned:
