Now do all of you jackasses that said Mayweather was ducking Margarito get the point? DLH vs. Mayweather is next, and Floyd is going to make something like 12 million for it. DLH is a way tougher opponent than Margarito because not only is he much bigger than Mayweather, he is very fast as well. You can all root for DLH against Mayweather all you want, but the fact is this fight is going to generate more money than any sub-heavyweight fight of all time. Just you watch. Boxing is getting more press from ESPN and the like, and DLH just had a HUGE PPV performance. Mayweather's name has gotten out there with PPV wins over Gatti and Judah, especially because of that brawl, and the world knows he's the greatest fighter in the world right now. This fight has big money written all over it, and nobody can tell me they don't wanna see it.
Against limited or over the hill competition I agree.
We have yet to see if he can do it against a young fighter in their prime since moving up to 140 147 & 154.
His fight with Hatton isn't even going to be at the right weight for his opponent.
There is always a catch.
yes.. its not.. amazing how u ppl are complaining, when floyd started his career at 130. hmmm
no matter how you put it any real boxing fan would give him more credit than beating any of the other welterweights mayweather has fought even hatton. that is the truth. margarito is still a bad ass in the welterweight divison only williams and mayweather should be ranked higher than him. plus margarito is not a coward and didnt duck williams the way maywather ducked margarito.
Well, we don't know that, because Margarito never became Floyd's mandatory.
It's also absurd that you place Margarito above Cotto. Cotto hasn't lost and has a belt. The win over Judah is just as good as anything on Margarito's resume.
Personally I would respect Floyd for showing us himself beating Margerito.
HOWEVER he hasn't.
I hate the fact that people can just say "Floyd would beat Margerito easily".
If he could , why didn't he?
If it was possible it wasn't exactly high risk low reward with $8 million dollars on the table.
I'm just tired of claims that fighters will defo beat so and so like it is written in stone.
Pavlik beating Taylor a prime example.
Especially with Floyd who so far at 140 147 & 154 has not fought a Prime Contender or champ.
Can you understand that?
In my eyes Floyd is still unproven until he meets a Hungry young opponent.
Hatton is a step in the right direction but the truth is this should be at 140 not 147.
I am getting bored of typing now...
So what kind of credit are you going to give Floyd if he beats Hatton, since it was at 147, not 140?
Would you really give Floyd credit if he beat Margarito and then Margarito lost again immediately after?
I do deal in FACTS.
BELTS MEAN FUCK ALL THESE DAYS.
For example Junior Witter would be the best at 140 if we followed your rules.
Gatti is SHIT and SHOT another FACT.
Judah was NOT ON FORM against Baldomir FACT.
Baldy was in the right place at the right time.
The only reason you are defending Baldy is because you are a PROVEN FLOYD NUTHUGGER and you need to defend Baldy to defend Floyd's bullshit claim to be the best at 147.
FACT.
Sonny.(Correct spelling FACT).
Haha, that's funny.
Anyways, we are all, in agreement that Baldomir was in the right place at the right time against the right people.
You didn't answer my two questions though.
1. How was Floyd supposed to know that Judah was going to start self-destructing in every big fight he was in from that point on? It really was the first time that he gave up halfway through a fight. This means that there really wasn't a way to tell that Baldomir was getting lucky as fuck in that fight. Baldomir is not top-class, period. How Mayweather was supposed to know that, I'm not sure.
2. What would you all be saying if Floyd had fought Margarito, and whitewashed him instead of Baldomir? You would say Margarito is one-dimensional, and didn't beat anyone good to get a shot at Floyd. Also, if Baldomir hadn't lost since he won the 147 title, and Floyd hadn't fought him, what kind of criticism would you all be flinging at Floyd for that?
he got to cocky against zoo and got knocked out. he was not focused for spinks.
mayweather knew from looking at him that he would destroy him. baldomir had more trouble with gatti than mayweather did and you could tell he is so slow. if margarito fought judah and gatti neither of them would last 1 round.
So that's why he is fighting the top 5 GOAT: Golden Johnson? Will he be able to last for more than 1 round?
He fought a man notorious for lacking focus.
Judah threw the fight away more than Baldy won it.
As for Gatti.....the guy was not a true Welter nor was he ever world class.
I have nothing against Baldomir but any other time in History he would never have been champ.
There are also better fighters than him at 147 whether he held the belts or not.
Who gives a shit why Baldo beat Judah and Gatti. Blah Blah, judah was not focused and Gatti is not world Class.
Fact: Judah was a undisputed champion. If you like belts so much. Judah was the WBC,WBA,IBF champion. Baldo only got the WBC belt because he didn't pay the sanctioning fees. That doesn't make him any less of a champion.
Baldomir defeated him even though he was supposed to be a tune up for Floyd. Judah was a huge favorite......Baldo proved alot of fans wrong.
Fact: Gatti was a huge favorite.......Baldomir proved alot of fans wrong again and made a successful title defense.
That is a hot streak. Had was on his way to Fighter of the Year had he beaten floyd. That would have been 3 big wins in one year. Didn't happen......Floyd won and he become the recognized, legitimate welterweight champion.
Deal with the facts sunny.
He fought a man notorious for lacking focus.
Judah threw the fight away more than Baldy won it.
As for Gatti.....the guy was not a true Welter nor was he ever world class.
I have nothing against Baldomir but any other time in History he would never have been champ.

Can you tell me when Judah lost a fight due to lack of focus before Baldomir?
I understand what you are saying, your criticism is that Baldomir sucks and Mayweather shouldn't have fought him.
My counter-argument is that there is no way for Floyd to know that Baldomir had gotten extremely lucky with timing and opposition to get where he was at in the 147 division.
lmao at Baldomir on a Hot streak.
Oh my lord.
Really? Some unknown Argentine fighter who beats 20-1 favorite Zab Judah, then knocks out favorite Arturo Gatti is on a hotstreak.
He was The Ring champion at 147, I think that qualifies as a hotstreak.
With that theory , do you not think as a fan you would prefer to see him fight Margerito than Baldomir for the same amount of $?
Ignore the WBC belt.
The whole "WBC belt is the only belt worth anything" is LONG GONE.
The WBC belt is the best belt theory is... stupid.
Anyways, I don't know who they would have rather seen... I quite suspect that everyone would say Margarito sucked had Mayweather whitewashed him like he did Baldomir.
Who did Margarito beat to get his shot at Floyd?
He's one-dimensional.
That is the kind of shit we would be hearing now if he had fought Margarito instead of Baldomir.
Baldomir was on an incredible hotstreak when he fought Mayweather. Certainly Baldomir's win over Judah is better than Margarito's wins over Clottey and Cintron, at least at that time. Since then, we have seen that Cintron might actually be a hot item. Clottey is still quite unproven.
The belt is worthless whether it is WBC or WBO.
Truth is Margerito was the tougher fight.
And anyone interested in a REAL LEGACY would have taken them BOTH.
However Floyd has stated publicly he has no intention of proving anything to the fans cos it's all about the benjamins.
In other words "Fuck the fans".
Which may or may not mean fuck the qualified experts who determine who is the best in the sport. Fans are notoriously dumb and close-minded. It's true.
He should have fought Margarito as well as Baldomir, as well as Williams, Cotto, Mosley, Cintron, Clottey and Collazo. The problem is that they are not enough months in the year. Every other big name fighter takes 6 months between fights... I don't know why Floyd is not allowed to do so as well.
EDIT: I wasn't talking about the WBC belt being more legitimate than the WBO belt. I was talking about The Ring belt. Even if you don't buy the qualititative theory, the quantity of belts at stake for each fighter's fight swings to Baldomir as well.
mayweather could have made $8 million plus whatever he made for dlh. he said margarito was easy work but he was all talk. to this day he fears the mexican bad ass.
$8 million for Baldomir and a real belt, not the WBO belt, which is the least legitimate of the major 4.
Figure out our currency or shut the fuck up bitch.
:fuckyou: :fuckyou: :fuckyou: :fuckyou:
No, its just that everyone knows about your pathetic floyd hating and margirito nuthugging.
yeah, floyd has really earned a title shot at delahoya with those wins hes had lately sure
its ok, some mayweather fans can see past floyds nutsack
If DLH made 30 mil against Mayorga, he'll probably make 35-40 mil against Mayweather. I'd say that means Mayweather gets something like 12-15 mil.
THe preliminary expectations was that a 55 million dollar purse would be split 60-40, with Oscar getting 32 and Floyd getting 22.

All true, DLH vs. Mayweather is going to huge if it happens! Hopefully it gets signed...

all delahoya fights get covered by every news channel regardless who he fights and the other news channels didn't mention floyds name, all this tells me is mayweather if he was going to lose he wants to lose with stacks of money, in my opinion if floyd takes on delahoya the fight will be missing one thing, the best welterweight in the division.
and its funny how you say flod is big ppv numbers guys  yet some people here complained that margarito can't sell ppv cause nobody knows him, as i said before delahoya fight an unknown and people still buy his ppv, all mayweather is bringing to the table is the mystical p4p title that i think floyd hasn't done much of anything lately to earn that mystical title
