This point is mute honestly, I remember Conor bringing this exact same subject up in the Press Tour to all the gullible casual followers about Floyd needing them in 10oz gloves instead of something smaller.
It's pretty clear what size gloves you have to wear above 147, and against another professional fighter, they may have been able to get NSAC's approval for 8oz instead, however, NSAC already stated days ago this wasn't going to change, and why would they? Give the best fighter in the last 10-15 years 8oz vs a guy who is making his professional boxing debut?
At this point I at least wish the Boxing Media would stop putting these retarded story lines out there.
He said that it was audible when it wasn't. When he put his hands together to make the motion, the fighters were looking straight at one an other and were not paying attention to the ref since he was not even close to being between them.
I understand what you are saying, but everyone ring side understood the fight was back on when Cortez motioned, and obviously Floyd did as well. The only individual who didn't pay attention was Ortiz. Besides, it's protect yourself at all times. Floyd has been known to hit on the break, that should have honestly been common sense imho.
Like I said I didn't enjoy the way it went down, and I do think Floyd would have won handily anyway, but it is what it is. Cortez is done reffing, so there is no way he will be able to influence a future fight at this point anyway lol.
Exactly. He allowed the KO because he didn't want to admit that he really blew the call. He clearly had not told the fighters to continue fighting yet but swore that he had. He's a joke and got worse when he got older.
If you honestly re-watch the fight, Cortez did motion to continue fighting before the final hug and KO. The only argument to be made was that Ortiz/Floyd didn't hear, but he definitely motioned that the fight was back on. Also notice how when the knockdown happens, Cortez looked ringside and they were already administering the 10 count on Ortiz.
I didn't like the KO, but I'm hard pressed to find an individual who wouldn't get back at someone who intentionally head butted them just minutes prior. Any other fighter, no one would have complained imho.
Don't be naive. Floyd wants the media putting out these story lines more then the media enjoys the hits they get from them.
Oh trust me, I definitely understand, I just feel like it would be nice if the Sport elevated itself above this nonsense at this point.
The fact that you have two individuals hyping this fight up doesn't bother me, it happens pre-fight for every fight no matter if the boxing world feels like it's a mismatch or not, so them spewing noise doesn't really bother me at all.
One thing I will say though, this definitely lets me know that Mayweather vs Pacquiao was 100% important to the boxing industry, and it's fan base. That fight was sold out in a couple of minutes. The ticket prices reached 6 figures alone!
This fight, while in a bigger arena, is not sold out yet, at 1/10 the price of May-Pac and these fools have guarantees combined of probably close to 200 million dollars.
If the way the tickets are selling is any indication on the PPV numbers, there may be some money lost. I get trying to sell the fight as much as possible, but you can't sell it to seasoned boxing fans. Only the casuals are getting suckered into this fight, and while I still think it will sell good as far as PPV goes, I don't see it coming even remotely close to May-Pac. I would venture around 1.5 mil to 2 mil at the most.
I'm honestly amazed at the amount of boxing fans coming out Against Paulie. Regardless of how annoying he is, McG is just as annoying as Paulie imho.
Regardless, I'm not going into the specifics of the Push/Knockdown, but it was against a guy who he threw in there for 12 rounds straight, not worried about changing out Sparring Partners to increase intensity, the sole purpose was to "fight" Paulie over the comments he made last December and so forth.
Again, this was against a guy who no one in the boxing world ever considered elite, he was only good Cotto, and a little Post Cotto, and that was a ****ing decade ago. He's lost 4 or 5 of his list 8 fights, multiple by TKO/KO, and we're going crazy over a Flash Knockdown AT BEST smfh.......this **** is so sad to me
You asked why people are coming down on Paulie and I gave you my opinion on the matter. He bragged about what he would do to Mcgregor In a boxing ring and was not able to back It up and he got knocked down and lied about It. A few members complained daily about releasing 5-10 seconds worth of video to prove that the knock down was legitimate and they got It. If a fighter gets hit with a grazing shot while trying to get out of the way and ends up off balance and his glove touches the canvas that Is technically a knock down. I would be willing to bet that most referee's would call that a knock down. After all, a punch was thrown right before he was dropped. Floyd Mayweather executes the same exact technique that Mcgregor used to drop Paulie. He puts his left elbow on the back of the neck and throws his right hand.
I'm literally not going to continue to debate this issue with anyone, I posted a video, the first slow motion segment proves my point as to why Cortez waved it as a no KD........you can have your opinion and I will continue to have mine. I'm not salty that you feel that way, each and every one person can have their own opinion, and I'll respect that.
I think people are coming out against Paulie because he blatantly lied. He talked a big game and unlike Floyd Mayweather he was unable to back It up. He told Mcgregor he could beat him with one hand behind his back and ended up getting dropped and lying about It.
Paulie Is not helping the sport we love by continuing to lie and recently saying that Mcgregor disguised the knock down well. He should have let It go and came back and beat the $h!t out of Mcgregor In their 3rd sparring session. Instead he packed his bags and went home.
The only thing that kills me about the situation is Paulie being so naive to think that McG's Camp and himself didn't have some type of ulterior motive by inviting him to their Camp.
Regardless of whether you think he lied about the Push/Knockdown imho is irrelevant. If I would have watched 36 minutes of McG destroying Paulie I wouldn't have anything to say on the matter, but this was two clips from certain angles less than 25 seconds combined showing what Paulie has already conceded in every interview that Conor got the best of him in 11 and 12.
Here is what I took from the slow motion video of the knockdown clip. I clearly saw McG's left hand cup Paulie behind the head/neck area and land a right uppercut then he went down. In a real boxing match, I guarantee you not every single Referee would call it a legit knockdown, the better refs would have seen that first and not called it. Just like Cortez.
I disagree. There was fist flying with no body contact or feet tangling together. While the impact of Connor punches weren't solid, he clearly connected. Deft would get called a knockdown
I can agree to disagree with anyone, but I challenge anyone to dispute what I originally said about his left hand/forearm cupping Paulie the same time he was throwing that right.

It's funny, for people who don't care 99% of the comments on here are from Mayweather haters.........clever names like MayBeatHer smh........this sh*t gets sadder by the damn day man.
Dude may be boring but his boring style has made him the highest paid athlete in the sports world. Same style as guys who can't sell **** like Ward and Rigo and Lara.
This dude gets more love from people that hate him vs people who appreciate his boxing career.
Come on bruh it has to be at least a REASONABLE offer. "40 with 35% doe" so I guess 60/40 with 45/45 ppv with the remaining 10 going to the winner is not reasonable?
Nah not when ur the number 1 paid athlete for consecutive years. Manny as far as money hasnt made close to what Floyd did. Manny made less vs Cotto than Floyd did fighting Victor Ortiz lmao.
u do realize even the 40 million with 35 percent is very close to 100 million guaranteed, so instead of 40 with 35 percent lets call it 100 million to 120 million for 1 fight.
Sources indicate close to 3 million ppv buys for that fight, maybe more. Set the bar at 2.5 at 100 bucks and ur already making 250 million, plus gate, closed circuit etc etc, youre at 300-350 million, on top of site fee, and a fight of this magnitude people will pay to be advertised.
So no offense but the offer made 4 months ago with absolutley no acknowledgment from team manny freddie koncz or bob, was more than generous.
Somebody should remind Brook that he has never beaten a fighter that even hardcore boxing fans knew existed before 2013. Those cheap ass belts must be lined with morphine patches. Just double checked his Box rec. This dude needs to shut his peter puffer.
Porters better comp than what khan has recently faced, or did he not beat alexander? Smh, and brook beat him HERE.
also funny a cheap ass belt when all belts except ibf are **** with regular interim etc
I give props to Liam, he fought hard, and he's a tough competitor. I figured the fight would last longer than a few rounds but I figured the KO/TKO was inevitable.
I don't get those who call a fighter a bum, but he proved to me he's tough, can be in exciting fights, and there were a couple of rounds and moments Liam actually did good work. If he had more experience against top level opposition he may have made it a closer fight.
Beat Manny, only up and comers worth watching would be Thurman, but I still think Thurman would get beat handily.
At this point rematch Cotto grab the middleweight strap and leave the sport at the highest. Cotto vs Floyd would still sell over 1 mil, his going away fight regardless will still be a big fight.
People in America are never gonna get behind an eastern European fighter in mass Loma is incredible but stop trying to push eastern Europeans to become stars on America it'll never happen as I've said before even the great wlad Klitschko didn't become a star Loma has no chance of ever being a big star state side
I get what you're saying, it just doesn't make sense to me because American's don't even back American fighters more than half the time lol.
No one knows what the actual financials of PBC are so it's just speculation to say that Haymon squandered all 500 million, which I doubt it 100% true.
PBC overall in the first year had some pretty decent fights, the stable of fighters that he has of course there will be crap fights, but every network shows crap fights. Progressively it's gotten better this year we had Thurman-Porter and LSC-Frampton among others. Plus it's FREE TV, which is a reason I don't think any boxing fan should complain about.
With Richard coming back promoting I think PBC will do better in the next year or two, a huge issue imo is the lack of coverage and media attention boxing gets, and also the negative publicity, not just from the media, but from boxing fans as well.
this MMA guy, is a lot smarter than many boxing fans
unfortunately
are MMA fans smarter than boxing fans as well ?
despite the fact there are a few fukwit boxing fans who think it was real, are the MMA guys all sitting around laughing at us..... based on those few fukwits?
I wouldn't say all that, the majority of MMA fans I've been in contact with are pretty casual and pretty annoying. But, I think you have a valid point about them laughing at boxing fans, and the sport of boxing in general. When you can spin the situation as well as Conor and Dana have to have Boxing Fans coming to your defense, then you did a hell of a job manipulating the entire situation in your favor.
Garcia yet again gets exposed. Sweet Science is now called running. Yall shouldnt listen to american broadcast but uk, those fools r a lot less biased.
peterson made danny look like a bum. Garcia is sposed to be undisputed at 140, lamont aint even elite.........but he ran doe lmao
ran and walked danny down like a *****
Let me ask the GGG fans this question.........if GGG retired right now.........would you define him as an ATG or a 1st ballot? And if so, please explain why.
At this point, he's 33, fought mid level competition, best win on his resume is probably going to be Geale, and that's not saying much. The top 10 at 160 is a laughingstock.
I don't think it's out the question to ask him to move to 168, he's fought at 160 his entire professional career. And the competition at 160 isn't going to get any better over the next couple of years. There are plenty of lucrative fights at 168 that I think would test his skill set. I hope after this Lemieux fight that he is willing to do something to enhance his legacy.
It will be a bidding war by Showtime and HBO.
Pac vs Brook/Thurman/Khan winner should get to be #50 in that new venue.
In the meantime-nobody should be happy about having to pay for his card in September. Legit card, just not PPV worthy. In fact, all his fights should be free from here on out.... regardless of who it is.
I agree that he wants to be a free agent. I also agree that his fights if he continues should be on free tv, at least 1 of them anyway.
Imagine if Floyd fought #50 on free TV? He wouldn't do it for us, it'd be more for PBC and Haymon. I think it's a good marketing attempt to gain more exposure for the PBC series over the next couple years.
LOL as great as Floyd is in the ring..I mean seriously did Pacquiao out-boxing him really kill his confidence this much to have to take this fight?...
Triple G and Thurman were out there...he tarnished his legacy with this fight beyond repair... nobody will consider Floyd ATG..this fight actually put the focus right back on his cherry-picking and challenge-avoidance :pat:
Do people just like your retardedness? I don't get it.........
Here's some irony for you and a great post by another fellow fan
2010 Manny didn't take the fight due to needles
2015 lost the fight because he was denied a needle
Told Kellerman he won the fight
20 minutes later at the Post Fight the injury is why I lost
He can run but he can't hide
After the fight he ran too much wouldn't stay still so I could hit him
Manny says TBE The Best Excuses
But who had the excuses?
Bradley brings up injury
Pac fans mock him and boo him
Manny has an injury Pac fans state he deserves a rematch
Arum stated injury is from 2008
Roach said 3 weeks before
Entered ring injured
THEN entered healthy but injured in rnd 3
Then it was rnd 4
Pacquiao fans say Floyd hugs
Less than 20 total clines in 12 rnds
Bradley posted pic in a wheelchair Pac fans mock him
Pacquiao releases photo of arm in sling Pac fans praise him
Pac Man fans before the fight, he's got angles, foot work, speed, power, combos
Manny lands 81 punches
Karpency is a club fighter and I've seen him fight a few times in Morgantown here, he's not that good, def not good enough to get a crack at Stevenson.
Bum match making, I can hardly blame Stevenson, fool is old, def on the outs in the next couple years, let him get that one good pay day against Kovalev, I have no problem with that fight, even if Stevenson has only a puncher's chance
Hopefully Thurmans okay, aside from that I figured Robert would pressure a lot more, but Thurman had a good game plan the first few rounds, throwing power to try and deter Robert from pressing.
I still think Thurman looked shook on the inside, if there were any pressure fighters with decent speed it would be interesting.
Some ppl are saying Porter but Porter got shook up by Brook who isnt a huge puncher, I think Porter would would get beat handily.
HBO already confirmed what Arum said. That HBO is finished negotiating with SHO, why are you Floyd chimps always ignoring the important information?
President of HBO already confirmed, it is Floyd holding up the fight. And any smart person trusts the HBO prez over anonymous sources who are just doing damage control for Floyd.
Arum is the one that went to Moonves, he is the biggest reason this fight will happen. All the credit goes to Arum.
Did the savage women beater got to Moonves and kickstart all this? NO. Get a hold of yourselves Floyd chimps.
Lol they already proved what Arum said as wrong lol, besides les wanted to make the
fight without Bob in the first place, it was FREDDIE who got les to talk to bob. Showtime already threw an offer out pre algieri fight
Some of yall make no damn sense, up until a yr ago yall were talking **** about Ariza and Manny, now all of a sudden since Arizas with Floyd hes on roids, lmao u just cat make this **** up.
and if u all are that stupid to think hes gna take illegal substances before a fight of this magnitude then ur def dumber than Floyd Mayweather is.
it amazes me the "fans" of boxing arent fans ur fans of fighters, yall could care less about the SPORT.
Im a floyd fan over Manny but I still appreciate what Mannys done for boxing. Only the fans disagree with ppl involved in the sport their qhole lives smdh
i just love to see may/khan go against cotto/canelo...lets see if Floyd sells like he always claims that's it's him who sells, thats why Floyd fights on those dates because of the Mexican fans, always saying he loves mexico and what not, well if a Mexican like canelo is fighting on that date i'm sure Floyd will just have to move because showtime will not want to compete against canelo/cotto,floyds ppv will take a big hit and so what if he's got his 30 plus million guaranteed, showtime will not want to lose money like they are already, barely breaking even is what I hear
I bet if floyd ends up fighting khan then showtime will have to stack the undercard. We already know hbo and bobby dont care about the undercards.
But even if floyd is outsold it probably wont be by much
Tug is the real deal tho, has good pop and good hand speed, also throws good combos. Hopefully Haymon can get him some exposure to a bigger fan base. Would like to see more lower weight guys have a chance on Network TV.
If Floyd had wanted the fight, the only thing Les Moonves would have had to do would have been to answer a phone call from Espinoza so Steve could tell him the fight was done.
Les Moonves reached out to Top Rank and HBO in early 2014 for a Pacquiao fight.........but Floyd aint want it
