FLOYD MAYWEATHER's bold claim he's willing to box Conor McGregor with 8oz gloves is nothing more than an 'idle threat', according to the Irishman's striking coach Owen Roddy. Earlier this week, 'Money' Mayweather, who will box the reigning UFC lightweight champion on August 26 in Las Vegas, said: "Don't believe what you hear in the media. Click Here To Read More]
They really have no clue what difference 2oz make?
"He doesn't care, he is used to fighting with 4oz" hahaha when he is using 10oz gloves and wonders were his power went... maybe he'll learn
Yeah, even in NSB some still dont see the difference in weight does affect power of a fighter. Glove weight is relative to the amount of force thrown including how heavy the gloves is also a factor in speed dimished in a punch, since carrying extra weight slows down a fighters actual speed.
Floyd is a mug
why on earth didn't they stipulate 8oz from the start
probably too late now
should have had your shht sorted
I wish, this would be one less loop to jump through for this circus act.
Don't be naive. Floyd wants the media putting out these story lines more then the media enjoys the hits they get from them.
Oh trust me, I definitely understand, I just feel like it would be nice if the Sport elevated itself above this nonsense at this point.
Conor is the one whose going to be getting hit constantly, so I don't think its in his best interest to use 8 oz gloves. Lets be real you take more of a beating in boxing getting hit repeatedly. Once an a MMA fighter gets hit and cant take it they try to go to the ground. Boxing is way more brutal than MMA.
This is about keeping this in the news people. Doesn't have anything to do with a real discussion or offer. The commission won't let you even wear whatever gloves you want at 154. I believe they'd need to fight at 147 to go down to 8oz gloves.
Gotta keep the fight in the news & this is one of the ways to do that. Fight is still 22 days away. There is gonna be about 5-7 more stories like this people & maybe 2-3 the week of the fight specifically.
Floyd's just upset Amir Khan has stolen the spotlight from them. That circus is far more entertaining
This point is mute honestly, I remember Conor bringing this exact same subject up in the Press Tour to all the gullible casual followers about Floyd needing them in 10oz gloves instead of something smaller.
It's pretty clear what size gloves you have to wear above 147, and against another professional fighter, they may have been able to get NSAC's approval for 8oz instead, however, NSAC already stated days ago this wasn't going to change, and why would they? Give the best fighter in the last 10-15 years 8oz vs a guy who is making his professional boxing debut?
At this point I at least wish the Boxing Media would stop putting these retarded story lines out there.
The one who had him and Diaz playing rockem sockem robots you hit me I hit you hands on our hips no don't move your head you don't want a miss clown school easy $$$$$$
:lol1::lol1: rock em sock em
This fight is more and more becoming a soap opera. I knew it was going to be a circus but now its just ridiculous. Everyday something new. What does it say about the consumer...?
