Lets compare this for a second since PBF came to jr welter and welter to Ricky Hatton circa 2005 (and for the record I am not card carrying member of team hatton) Hatton has fought the champ at jr welter Kosta Tzsyu and Maussa who also had a title at 140. PBF has fought Henry Brussels(a guy who is probably not ranked in the top 20) and Arturo Gatti (a title holder. I belive the edge in difficult competition goes to Hatton.
Now PBF moves to welter, what is his first fight? a faded aharmbra mitchell. Hatton's first fight a title holder and a top 10 opponet in Collazo. Hell even Gatti fought a guy ranked in the top ten at welter in his first fight at 147.
And ppl r now saying what about Judah PBF fought him, yea Judah who was coming off a mentaly devistating loss, and this bad for somebody who doesnt have it all up there to begin with. 1. HASIM RAHMAN, Should have got the dec. over Toney also beat Barrat back in August, was supposed to face Vitali but we all no what happened he was then awarded with a piece of the Heavyweight title snd Rahman was once the legit champ.
2. CHRIS BYRD, His reign should end very soon come the 22nd this seems to be a cashing out fight, which would drop him to the 10 spot on the list.
3. WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO, Has beaten the feared Peter also has a win over Williamson, Klitschko should add Byrd to this lists of beaten and this should bring him to the two spot and hopefully by the end of this year the winner of a Rahman/Klitschko fight should be recognized as the world champ.
4. SERGUEI LYAKHOVICH, A very impressive win against Brewster this kid is exciting can box well and will trade power punches, has a decent chin too. Would love to see him against Wlad, Rahman, Brock, or Peter. And dont forget his UD win over Guinn. Only problem is, he needs to stay more active.
5. NIKOLAY VALUEV, The reason I have Serguei higher is because his win over a title holder was more impressive and against a tougher opponet. He is the weakest champ and truley dont expect him to reign that long. hell McBride might be able to beat him. Valuev is a stand up man outside the ring as well, the problem is it just dont get u points inside the ring
6. JAMES TONEY, A shame could have been the man to unify the division but always seems to piss it away. We all know about the Ruiz fiasco and he LOST to Rahman, I just dont think Toney has the desire and commitment to be a savior at the Heavyweights, the no weight limit for the Heavies seems as if Toney does not care what he ways now for the fights.
7. SAMUEL PETER, When it comes down to it he really has faced nobody in his 25 wins and will continue this trend when he takes on Julius Long later this month. His claim to fame is his KO power and he did look somewhat impressive in the Wlad fight when he was throwing excessive rabbit punches.
8. CALVIN BROCK, has looked impressive in his past outtings, his biggest win came against McCline, since then he has been fed a steady diet of stiffs. Ibragimov is somewhat of a step up, but after this fight Main Events needs to stop protecting this guys and see what he can do

But also on a side note for somebody who has never been to a Gatti fight at the Boardwalk Hall (The House that Gatti built) you have to go, if your a fan or not, its is absolutely electric when he comes out and walks to the ring while AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" is playing. It is beyond words you have to be there, it is an experience for all boxing fans. And if your not a Gatti fan before the fight you will be after the fight, win or lose.
NO way should there be a Toney Rahman II. As boxing fans who care about the sport we should simply make our voices heard, the first fight was garbage, absolute trash. They will lose a lot of money with this second fight. If pressured by the WBC Rahman should do the right thing and vacate the title so we can have a linear champ in the Heavys again. Heres a boxingscene exclusive for you, I think the best 2 fighters that got a shot at beating PBF are 1st beaing Ricky Hatton, the kid is a good pressure fighter and is quick, it will definetly be a great fight to watch and hopefully will get done by the end of this year, early next year
And heres the exculsive pick, when he comes back and if he is in top shape, will probably need around 4 fights to see where he is at, I believe Paul Spadafora has the style to give Mayweather trouble. And no I not basing it off the fact of the sparring video where he schooled PBF. I base it on the fact Spady is quick, a south paw which give PBF a little trouble, he stays in close, always moving and he has a nice crouching style were he balanced and can throw effective punches.
Margorito is a tough fight for Mayweather, Margorito has got the power and is bigger but I think he comes in too wide and Mayweather shoot down the middle and pick him off w/ some combos, so Id slightly favor Mayweather in this one
I'm all for it also but it is his fault for being an "entertainer first and a figther second" early in his career, he said that himself. But I think he needs a good payday before he retires. I fight with Hatton would be rediculous, can you imagine the amount of punches these guys will throw.
This is true, alot of his losses came up b/c of his 'drunken praying mantis' style of fighting but damn it is fun to watch, a Hatton fight would be great wouldnt it?? I mean Augustus isnt a household name but it is better than most of the names Ive seen thrown around for Hatton's next opponet. It would be a good gauge fight for Hatton since PBF beat Augustus sometime back and PBF said Emanuel is his toughtest fight. Im proud to say im a Malignaggi fan and I have been since after his fight with Casimonica in 04, Cotto was 6-0 in his title defenses and won all 6 by KO, Paulie snapped that streak and that is something that Corely couldnt do who is a top 10 jr welter also Maussa was TKO'd he is a top 10 welter. So Paulie has a chance to be a top 10 jr welter. So lets see how he rebounds in 6 months or so in his nxt fight and take it from there this is all speculyation right now and its getting no where.
*** for a side note on KO power the great Tommy Loughran the "Philadlphia Phantom" arguably on of the thee best light heavys of all time didnt have KO power, in 174 fights he only had 17 KO's. Also Paul Spadafora didnt have big KO power and he still won a championship

To my knowledge a match with the winner of OKTAY URKAL and LUIS COLLAZO are going to be worked out should GATTI beat baldy. Then in my opinion after the possibility of a COLLAZO/URKAL fight should GATTI again be victorious I would recomend 1 more fight a big payday against Hatton/Cotto/Judah, stay away from PBF and Margorito(too big)

It wont be his 5th since he never got titles at weleter and jr welter, they were paper titles, not the real title, PBF is learning from the school of RJJ on gaining paper titles saying u r the best, even though there are intresting matches on paper but we dont fight the fight instead they fight it with words and $. The reason Baldomir whipped Gatti is because he was better. He threw shorter shots that reached the mark, between Gatti's wide hooks. And Baldomir has an iron chin.
Too small is the truth my friend. Gatti's frame dosent carry 147 well, in all his fights at welter he has had trouble, De La Hoya, Hutchinson(had more to do with the 2 early headbutts than Joe's skills) and Baldomir. Even Damgaard gave him a little trouble in spots The facts r there. The guys r just too big, and Gatti's power isnt as effective
U act like Gatti is the only fighter ever to take advantage of fighting at a smaller weight. EVERY fighter does that. And as time goes on it gets harder to make that weight and they r forced to move up. Gatti started at lightweight 135 won a title then moved up to 140 and won a title and challeneged for one at 147. Look at other fighters weights, its very similiar
