I think Ward/Floyd fans are easily the worst fanbase about, too motivated by racial hatred.
floyd and ward are more decorated fighters than ggg. Why do you do this to yourself? We know who ggg is, he's taking a fraudulent fight soon, but so did canelo hes a man and has to pay the bills. Don't make this into anything less or more than what it is, he is veery skilled and may fight someone real soon but as for now, he's a fighter waiting for a sound matchup.
no, but i think kov will have periods of trigger shyness like postol had just bc ward will definitively counter his right making him scared to pull it.
excessive clinching to me goes along with other non boxing fouls meant to get an advantage. If some uses a forearm to make space excessively its a foul after warnings, pushes a fighter off excessively to get space its a foul after warnings, clinches excessively, measures/ stiff arms, there are several non scoring moves that can be used to gain advantages it depends on the flow of the fight as well as refs
Russel Jr relies on his speed too much. Frampton feints will bamboozle him the same way Loma did but Carl will be stepping in with power, not to mention Carl's jab WILL be a factor offensively and defensively. Russell Jr has that equalizer as well but Carl has to be the favorite.
I like Selby, he fights like Broner..... but Carl will wreck him.
Get him Rigo! Force Carl to fight him.
Loma is a different style fighter than carl, much more technical with game plans. Though carl boxed beautifully saturday, he isn't the type to be physical or use his physicality to alter a fighters defense (swipe down gloves, head positioning inside, throw and smother, etc) like loma did and grj has changed some of his defense since then. I'd love to see the fight though
I didn't mean it too literal. Frampton was just in two big fights back to back. I just think Russell and Selby should be in a big fight, against each other, before they face someone like Frampton. Plus, like I said Frampton will probably have an easier title defense to end the year and probably get Fighter of the Year for 2016.
No excuse as to why Russell, Selby, and Santa Cruz can't mix it up in the meantime. I wish Russell would stay more active.
And hopefully Valdez can get into the mix as well. Some good fights to be made at 126.
selby just said he didnt wanna fight grj bc he doesn't bring in money and frampton said the same about rigo. Looks like they'll be fighting each other and then chasing a payday after that. I'd love to see grj vs anyone in the divsion, but whether he gets a true look we'll have to see.
A boxer doesnt need to have superstar/cross over appeal to be the best. Jones jr was the best and he wasnt a boxing superstar. Kovalev and ward are in a strong division and if either of them dominates that division they deserve to be called the best.
correction jones was a boxing superstar
I think that's very debatable. He was a 100-1 on because it was a completely ridiculous match-up against a small, unproven, feather fisted old man. Thurman definitely boxed straight from the beginning and had been talking about getting rounds leading up to the fight.
Compare how Thurman fought against Porter to how he fought against Bundu and tell me he didn't do it on purpose.
I agree with the rest.
thurman has said himself on multiple occasions he ALWAYS goes for the ko
what you are not seeing is the small things he does with his feet.
Also, he doesn't throw the same thing over and over, he changes punches, different punches and when he throws the same punches there is a problem for the other fighter:
If you watch closely, he might tap you with one kind of punch, 1,2,3 times, but he will also hit you with the same punch very hard once in a while and you don't see it coming.
So you never know what to expect from him, you can't get in a "balanced mood" against Golovkin because you never know what is coming.
If the "recto" doesn't get you, he might try an upper, or a swinging shot to the liver.
Some guys don't see any of this because they have never been in a ring and it is really difficult to understand all the small things the mf does. Shifting is just another thing he does pretty well.
He makes anyone else look ordinary.
You guys want the big fights, i want them too, but fast, not i a couple of years.
I appreciate his skill set and think he has some of the best timing in boxing as well as positioning. I see those things, but for the most part he has fought at his tempo to his advantages in his fights. Great fighters do that, but other great fighters may find holes in his game. Like I said he is a very very technically skilled boxer, no question about it, just want to see what happens when he has to move at a pace he doesn't dictate.
Wayy wrong on the catch-and-counter.
His reflexes are top notch, don't think he's "vulnerable" to counters. Don't get me wrong - everyone gets countered, including Floyd and Ward - so will Golovkin.
He does look silly when he's being backed up, and potentially it CAN be a weakness. But here's the thing - in order to back someone up efficiently, you need to dictate the pace of the fight. To do that, you need to go toe-to-toe with your opponent, and there's only a limited amount of fighters that are willing to do that.
Golovkin does look silly when he's being backed up - but the person who's 'backing' him up is usually much more off balance because he's throwing hail mary flurries.
I like GGG's defensive style. It reminds me of Lomanchenko as he manipulates opponents defense as a primary means of offense. He not only parries but he moves you, he not only smothers with distance but actively with his arms. He dictates how you can move which is similar to what he was attempting to teach Barrera against Ward with head placement. The catch and shoot wasn't really illustrated in this clip too often (in truth I watched 6+ min) except against a woefully overmatched Rosado and even then it was against a overutilized jab that was ineffective throughout (Rosado doesn't change speeds on his punches often).
He is very skilled and has great timing, but my countering comment was more related to his response when he doesn't dictate tempo or is fighting off the back foot and has to counter, vs all these examples where he is either at his preferred distance or going forward. Don't want to take away from him I think he is very skilled but i do see flaws.
So what Daniel Jacobs is trying to say is he thinks hes worth $2 million to face GGG.
Nobody is going to pay him that much. He hasnt done chit, a fight with him isnt any more interesting than a fight with any other cab driver that GGG has been facing.
what danny is saying is lets put $ in both of our pockets, get some more recognition then fight. The $ is in ppv and neither can pretend to carry one now. Should they gain more popularity maybe but now no
Why put the blame on GGG and GGG's team? Why can't Jacobs get paid 1.5 millions or 1 million, beat GGG and become the face of the MW division? simple, he doesn't think he can beat GGG. Maybe in two years when GGG is older. You can't talk about risk when the fighter is in your same division and you are his mandatory.
How much do you think Jacobs deserve? more than 1.5 millions? no way. He's an interim champion. He's ducking, plain and simple.
so in the article he clearly says i want the fight and you say, if you don't take it now you're ducking? I think ur the twitter thug he was referencing
Loma has the advantage boxing and Walters like's to land from distance, bad formula for walters. But walters has power advantage and size. I still like Loma to kinda school walters
Thing is I'm here in Vegas and there isn't a huge Russian contingent while there are plenty of ward fans. Not hugely promoted but money here is all going to ward
Ward won. Kovalev conceded the inside game by holding repeatedly which I think underscored the lack of preparedness he had for each and every facet of the fight. Ward made kov uncomfortable and changed the tide of the fight, he was the ring general.
Kov is a great puncher and ko artist. Ward is a great boxer with sound technique. If kov can carry out his first 4 rounds through 12 he has a legit shot at winning. Ward seems to understand that his key to winning is defense more than anything. If ward can negate kovs counters 12 rds he has a great shot at winning. No clue who wins but WAR WARD!!!
Keith is a good fighter, I think he is best when he can outbox and dazzle with his hand speed and power. Not certain he is the better boxer or has the better hand speed with danny. Keith also has had his power myth disspelled, so danny will more than likely be able to stand up to his power, be the more polished boxer and a toss up in hand speed.
If Keith goes forward and pressures danny effectively he has a better chance but that hook is real and I don't know if his d is up to the task. I have danny by ud
i said 'arguably' you spastic. :bottle:
Did you just learn the word spastic? How could you ARGUE ggg has even a world class chin with his level of competition? It's a very flawed argument.
Did you see him walk through every single thing jacobs threw? Jacobs has alot of KOs and has KO power he never even rocked GGG.
So the Jacobs fight is your evidence? Not even worth discussing at this point.
