I just saw mike Tyson say it recently:
Fighters get better as they get older. They may not look better but they are better.
Floyd may not be "prime" to most now but I believe he has only gotten better as he's gotten older. He is now at the point where he has mastered his skill set. He is harder to beat now than he was in his prime.
It was good fight. I think pac's best win to date. I like watching that fight and just watched it again recently. That PAC could not beat Floyd though. I dont know what cotto was doing in that fight. He could have made it easier on himself if he just took a step back. He just kept coming forward and kept eating pac's punches. One step back every time PAC came forward would have change the whole fight. Floyd is great at staying out of range. He will either be too far or too close. He would have made that same PAC look ordinary.
And for the people who say that fight is the one that had Floyd scared and asking for testing to avoid the fight... How did Floyd know pacman would refuse the test? Can someone please answer this for me.
Floyd only want to be tested 2 months before his fight. Why do the useless 2 months testing when there is a real Olympic drug testing like what is Donaire doing right now?
If the 2 month testing was so useless, why didn't pac agree to it? I see people in here saying "well he never tested positive so he must be clean" he never tested positive because he refused testing. He's never tested negative either. See how that works? I don't know if he ever used or not and that's the way they wanted it. Team pac and them would rather people assume he is dirty rather than KNOW he was clean. If they really cared they would have killed these rumors a long time ago. Say what u want but to this day they still have not agreed to testing. They said they agreed on tv but that's it. Before the Mosley fight, roach admitted they never agreed. If they wanted to prove that they did agree to it for Floyd, they would have tested in at least one of his following fights. But instead, they did what lance Armstrong, Marion jones, and Shane Mosley did... They sued for defamation. Those three were all proven to be liars.
If Marquez did use against pacman, it was the smartest thing he could do. Anyone who fights PAC knows for a fact they will never be tested. It's a free pass to do whatever u want.
Who is lashawn smith? I'm really in disbelief at how much passion u guys put into how much u hate mayweather. Like it just sits on your mind everyday and u don't know what to do with yourselves.
If he wanted to be recognized as the greatest he'd be cleaning out divisions, not fighting once or twice a year.
Ok. Who could he fight at 147 that people on here would not call a cherry pick? The only people worth fighting are top rank fighters and that wont happen. So for Floyd, 147 will be cleaned out after Guerrero. After Floyd beat de la Hoya and hatton, who was left for Floyd to fight that wasn't top rank?
I just hate the fact that the are fights we know we won't get to see because of this promoter mess. It's like we have two separate leagues of boxing. Once fighters get to a certain level, they should just sign with these promo companies on a fight by fight basis.
It's pretty obvious Floyd has to go toe to toe now.
He walked down Mosley and Ortiz and stood in front of Cotto. He's a different fighter these days, more vulnerable and his fights are more exciting because of it.
Just a shame Guerrero is unlikely to bring the best out of him.
I think if Floyd hears enough of these comments, we can throw toe to toe out the window. I think Floyd is very conscious of what people say about him. If enough people say he lost his legs, he may just go out and try to prove them wrong. I would actually rather see Floyd do this.
Believe that if u want. The man obviously gets ticked off at what the media says about him. He may not admit it but he cares. He wants to be recognized as the greatest. He already said he wants to keep fighting and show the world he still has it. What better way to show the world than fighting in your more elusive style?
Money takes that. Martinez has decent hand speed but it isn't on mayweather's level for 1. I havent seen martinez fight anyone who even resembles floyds style. Martinez may have more power but power doesn't come into play when u can barely hit your opponent. Floyd wins 9-3.
It's funny how people watch this interview then twist what 50 said in order to make these negative stories about Floyd. It's like your hatred for this man drives u and removes common sense thinking. Everyone is so happy to hear something bad about Floyd. I don't know if all what 50 says is true but I don't think he would lie. I think this the story from his point of view. I'm just a lil disappointed that he talk about his relationship with his "younger brother" in the media like that. It's kinda funny to me that he has this controversy now when his album is about to drop soon. Controversy sells. I'm glad I got to see the whole interview cuz the articles made it seem worse than it really was.
When it comes down to what 50 said about the fight, it seems like 50 wanted to make whatever deal would get the fight going but I think Floyd still wants the bigger purse cause he feels like he is the star of boxing. I think Floyd won't budge on that so things ain't moving. Floyd is willing to wait until pac gives in to his demands. Thats why there is no urgency. That's what I gather from the interview.
Clear your temporary files on your browser, you might be reflecting the old page..because Andre S.O.G is now number 2.
That didn't work but maybe it's cuz I'm on my iPhone. I found a article saying he dropped though. And in yahoo's (#3) and sports illustrated rankings. I agree with it though. I think took claim to that number 2 spot because of who he beat and how he beat him. Even if pac beats Marquez, I don't see how it can move him back to number 2 unless he dominates AND knocks him out. Number 4 seems about right. A good and legit win over Marquez can get him back to #3.
Obviously they're only doing it becuz they feel its the cooler thing to do nowadayz... Just like when it was dick-riding Pac and calling Mayweather a coward... Now its, pretending like they actually came up with a perfect assessment and decided Pac should be moved below Andre Ward and Sergio Martinez
I HATE ESPN!!!!
You PAC fans/Floyd haters are sad. PAC being moved down makes u hate the whole company/business. It's actually just one person at espn lol. U will probably hate sports illustrated and yahoo Sports now too cuz guess what, PAC ain't number 2 there either! It's obvious to the rest Of the world except you guys. Y'all are losing all credibility. Some of you lost it long ago.
lmfao at some of these posts, dont know if they are trolling or not
Same here. Pacamania has to be trolling cuz no one could really think the things he has said in here.
We heard 50's side of the story already on the radio. He admitted he wanted to make the Floyd/Pac fight and set up the company where the fighters keep all the money and cut out the promoters and the managers. Then his issue was that Floyd had no sense of urgency and 50 "had his own money" and didn't need to wait for Floyd to get a free handout.
The letter just confirms what 50 was talking about. He already admitted everything that was said in the letter in his interview.
I see what you're saying but why do this while he is in jail? Or why not talk to Floyd himself I stead of someone else writing a letter?
Alright so I had to sit back and think on this for a minute cuz this isn't making sense to me. First off, Floyd and 50 are friends (like brothers as they say) why wouldn't 50 bring this to Floyd himself? 50 coulda went to visit him in jail to talk about it. 2. Why would 50 even try to make a move like this while Floyd is in jail. I've heard 50 talk plenty of times and he is a pretty smart guy. He knows this is not how business works. U don't try to start a business with someone go is locked up and will be out in a matter of weeks. Why the urgency? 3. These letters were posted on thisis50.com too. So these letters can't be exposing 50 cuz why would they be on his site? And the first person Floyd was with when he got out was 50 at the movie premier and people say they were at the hiphop awards together. So either 50 is using artificial controversy to promote his album that drops next month, he set up tommy to look stupid by letting him write that letter, or 50 is not as smart as I thought to try to do this while his homie is locked up. Just my observations on this.
This type of shyt has been going back and forth with both sides since 2009. How is this any different?

Damn u are right on with that. So much has been said there's no way to know what's real. I say this, there is something in there that we don't know about that this stopping this fight. It's obvious there are some secrets or lies here. One of the 2 if not both. As far as this what if I lose comment. I have heard this before. But I thought it was said that he said this to koncz not manny. Now manny says he said it to him.
They didn't say it on ESPN but thats what the so called offer is.
55 split to the winner. Read this and watch what konz said.
Pacquiao’s advisor, Michael Koncz, tried to clarify to The Times on Friday that the boxer was willing to accept a deal in which the winner would receive 55% and the loser gets 45%. That’s the same deal Koncz was extending to Mayweather in the spring.

Damn you can't believe anything they say.
So Pacquiao said that Mayweather asked him over the phone "WHAT IF I LOSE?" Lets not forget that Pacquiao and his handlerss asked Mayweather and his people "What would happen if I tested positive?"

Game, set, match:boxing:
Damn roach said Floyd would never fight Mosley? So much for that.
There is alot of young talented fighters and they will get more attention once Floyd and Manny retire..the new face of boxing will be Ward imo
I say a toss up between ward and broner as the new face. Ward's talent will sell a lot of fights if people don't get too scared to fight him. When he fought froch, i didnt think his style was that exciting because he fought like an inside fighter. But he showed me something against Dawson and I see a great future for ward. Broner, though now looks like a copy of Floyd, will continue pick up mayweather fans if he stays undefeated long enough and sharpens his skills as he goes. And because he talks so damn much, u kinda have to pay attention to him. He has made it hard on himself though because he will always be compared to Floyd.
As far as this mayweather Marquez fight, when I went back and watched it again, I realized how great this performance was. First, we have to establish that Marquez called Floyd out. And Floyd comes back from a layoff with this type of performance. For the type of fight that it was, the fact that Floyd didn't make weight made no difference. It didn't even give Floyd the power to knock him out. And yes Floyd did try but not like he used to. I remember when he used to jump on guys and finish it. He tried but cautiously.
he's avoided pac. i don't care how many cherry picked fights he's won. just like he avoided cotto and margarito to fight baldomir and retirement. just like he's avoiding martinez right now and will fight some b level guy like guerrero next. we know his MO. well most of us do...
This is the problem. Whoever floyd doesnt fight is the one he ducked. I guarantee if floyd didnt fight baldomir and fought someone else, u would say he ducked baldomir. Y'all say he ducked Mosley. But we saw mOsley look shook and say "I want to go on vacation. Why doesn't Floyd fight someone else?" What's funny to me is that for years and years Floyd has been considered as the p4p best by fans, analysts AND other boxers. Until de la hoya, floyd was a huge risk but he didnt generate huge ppv numbers, which is the reason you guys give as to why martinez shouldnt fight ggg (im not saying he should) Why would it not occur to u that maybe, just maybe, these guys have been ducking him? That would be the logical reasoning. But nobody is ducking anybody. Get real. It's just business.
Damn... major exposure right here.
Lol @ the Floyd fans defending the guy when they know everything is pretty much out there. Whether is a FB status, a tweet or of course good ol' YouTube.
What eaxtly was exposed? He was asked if he would NOT fight Martinez and he said he can't say that. He said he may go to 160 if possible. Which tells me he won't fight him at 154 but 160 if he feels good with the added weight. What did u get from that video?
Floyd is a 154 lb champion right? Sergio is a 154 lb fighter FIGHTING at middleweight because thats where the fights were. And dont try to justify that Sergio is a true middleweight when you look at his size, at what point did sergio match or exceed his opponents size? Chavez vs Martinez looked like a heavyweight vs a light middleweight.
You know floyd loses that fight so you dont want it. When Golovokin beats a legit opponent then he can get a crack at sergio
This s a pointless discussion. You can make the same point for most fighters. "Martinez went up to mw because that's where the fights are so he's not a true mw. Well Floyd went up to jmw because that's where the fights were. He's a ww who's fought at jmw twice only. If Floyd can fight Martinez then Martinez can fight ward, if ward was willing to come down. If Martinez can fight Floyd then Floyd was ok fighting Marquez." There is no right answer. It's just how u look at it.
This is a fight I wouldn't mind seeing but I can understand if it never happens. If people are cool with PAC saying he has limits and won't fight people that they feel are too big, why should it be any different for Floyd?
