Even the term severely doesn't describe the extent of the injury. I can say I severely tore my hamstring based on my feeling and be exaggerating. But truth of the matter is that if something was severely TORN he would not have been able to keep his hand up due to fatigue and pain of just holding it up, let alone fighting with it. Hopkins said it best.. There is no way he had a torn shoulder while he was hitting mitts and heavy bags with that much power just 10 days out. No way he is promising KO with a torn shoulder. Roach even said this is the strongest Manny has ever hit me blah blah... This is the best training camp blah blah... Save it Manny
I would love to see Khan in there with Spence, Thurman, Porter, Crawford, Garcia, Brook or Broner... He may have a glass chin, but boy is he fun to watch with his hand speed... He'll give you a good couple rounds before looking like he is receiving the Mortal Kombat "Finish Him"
I thought Keith won 116-112.. Very competitive fight but Danny absorbed the best punches.. He wasn't the one given them on a consistent basis. That being said, Danny took all the shots well and should be proud of a fight where he showed guts. His stock didn't really fall from this. He does need to move on and keep building... he still has lots of titles and huge fights left in him..
Pacquiao still has one or two left in him.. I for one would like to see him fight Danny Garcia and Amir Khan before he goes. He's had a great career and has nothing else to prove. A fight with Danny and/or Amir would give him the type of fight that he would like to be remebered for.
This is AWESOME! I can't wait for Pacman to retire so that boxingscene can stop giving this clown article slots. This guy is a cheerleader. No one with a brain saw Pacman winning that fight, BORING as it was. Even Max Kellerman, who loves Pacquiao, told him he thought he lost. This article has a North Korean "Our Dear Leader" type of tone... Pretty laughable. "Shooting Pain" LMAO. On second thought, keep this guy around, he is comical
Floyd doesnt "fight" you. He sits back and focuses on nullifying his opponents and in return fires off one and done punches in order to score points.
Critics can say that Pac didnt sell out in order to make it exciting but I'll tell you, Pac put forth more of an offensive effort than Floyd did in that fight. He fired off combos when he could and was the one coming forward the entire fight. It's hard to be offensively effective and impressive when your opponent is 100% focused on killing any action by hugging, headlocking and evading in order to avoid engaging.
I scored the fight 7-5 for Floyd. It was far from this whitewash that his fans are claiming it was. There were many rounds that could have gone either way but it seems as if they judges gave all the close rounds to Floyd by default.
It was not even a close fight and it was all Pacman's fault. You have to hold people accountable for their rhetoric. Pacman and Freddie were talking hand speed, footwork, and KO for years and he laid a historic egg. What fight were you watching? Floyd out threw AND out landed Pacman. Any nonsense about running is just that, nonsense. He was standing right in front of Pacquiao the whole night and Pacquiao couldn't hit a thing except for round 4. So much for the offensive powerhouse of Pacquiao... For all the talk about Pacman being able to challenge Floyd he was just flat and looked like an infant trying to solve a rubik's cube. It was easily one of Floyd's easiest fights.
Bunch of morons who think sports athletes don't get better with time. You can't compare 50's boxing to today, today is much more superior. They punched meat then they just walked into the ring and started bleeding, then they left and did it again 3 weeks later. Dudes today have strength and conditioning coaches, protein shakes, improved calisthenics, better technique. That era formed the basis for the future of boxing and should be respected, but to imply its fighters are better is retarded. That's like saying sprinter Jesse Owens was better than Usain Bolt... foh
Rocky Marciano >>>> Floyd Mayweather
Jr hit the nail right on the head, going 49-0 in the heavyweights matters much more because of the size differential and the fact that any one punch can change the game these guys need to be in top physical peak and Marciano was certainly that.
Floyd Mayweather wouldn't be able to do a 49-0 in the heavyweights that's a fact.
Its nice to see Marciano Jr giving his opinion I'd like to hear more from him he seems like a well educated man of the sport unlike some Floyd fans on here.
Riiiiight.... even though half of Marciano's career (25 fights) was fought in just under 3 years. What a joke.
Pacman losing to anyone under the Top Rank banner in a potential final fight is Bob Arum's dream finish for Pacman... Amazing.. after all Pacman has done for Arum, he only desires his downfall. Pacquiao should tell Bob to shove it and fight Khan, then Thurman... Regardless of how it ends for him, he'll be a legend so he may as well go for another title shot.
floyd has been 'knocked down' both officially and unofficially. officially against hernandez, and unofficially against judah. also floyd was 19 when he turned pro while loma was 25, loma stayed an amateur longer and won 2 gold medals. floyd was a silver medalist (controversially). not taking anything away from floyd, but loma is something special, and tris is not saying the loma is p4p best ever. hes just saying that he has not seen anything quite like loma, and i agree with him. the guy is a phenomenon.
as for the salido loss, salido came in over weight, and in loma's second only fight he lost a tight decision to a guy with multiple world titles. then in loma very next fight he takes on gary russell jr for another title. if he loses that he goes to 1-2 after 3 fights. respect to loma, hes been taking on the best available guy since he stepped up as a pro.
Floyd took a knee when he broke his hand on Hernandez's head... knock down my ass... What the hell does that have to do with Loma getting sent to the canvas cleanly on his ass with a legit punch? We aren't talking about a glove or slip here. Loma is an excellent fighter, but his stock went down in my eyes after this fight, not up. He showed a little vulnerability. He was a huge favorite to win and got thru by the skin of his teeth and a clutch body shot to end the fight... But he was in a dog fight with another good fighter who was giving as good as he was taking from Loma while it lasted.
C'mon Champ... If by undisputed you mean lineal (having all or most belts, or being the man who beat THE man) lets not go too far. Cory Spinks was undisputed, Julio Cesar Chavez wasn't, let that sink in. That's much more difficult in weight classes where stiff competition lies in weight divisions above and below your very own division. People want to see you fight 3 weight classes at the same time when you are good in lower weights. The temptations to go up and down are high. A talented Heavyweight only has that one challenge because weight classes are not a variable for them since they only have one class. I always credit fighters who have fought thru great ranges of weight classes (Think Floyd, Pacquiao, Duran, Chavez, Whitaker). Besides, Floyd was either technically lineal twice, or never lost his lineal title (depending on how you feel his short break plays into it). Baldomir refused to pay sanctioning fees after beating Judah, which technically on paper, prevented Floyd from fighting for undisputed thought he beat the man that beat THE man. The later on, Floyd refused to pay for his sanctioning fees after Mosley (which would have made him undisputed again). If you forgot the path for how Floyd got to "undisputed", here it is and how it was passed to Floyd... Mosley lost to Forrest, Forrest lost to Mayorga, Mayorga lost to Spinks, Spinks lost to Judah, Judah lost to Baldomir, Baldomir to Floyd. If I'm wrong, by all means remind me. I could care less.. just like keeping track of boxing history.
Love this fight but 2019 seems like the realistic timeframe. Porter isn't stepping aside unless he gets shot at winner.
Errol's body work and methodical attack style will help him in this fight.. Keith is a superior boxer and power puncher, and Errol doesn't have the best defense... but, Keith can thank Collazo for exposing the fact that he hates body shots, which plays into Errol's strength. I think Errol wins because Keith is on the backfoot too much for my liking these days. He doesnt come forward as much as he used to.
One thing is for sure pacquiao wasnt himself that night, if speed and move, ent is key how come he tore up algieri who was moving faster than floyd and constantly on the backfoot.
Pac landed the more powerful shots, the key is to have the judges in your pocket, when you watch the fight in slow motion you can see the ****s not really landing but real time floyd looks like he lands and gets right out, and yes slow motion was the favorite of floyd fans niw they hate it all of a sudden?
They were loving that bradley vs pacquaio slow mo bias hbo commentary video, but now you cant question this fight? Tall about biased. The fight should have been a draw.
Floyd was doing nothing but moving back and holding. I love how the floyd fans tell everyone just to accept the judges decisions now and call people salty. Floyd couldnt outdo marquez and morales, the floyd fans said floyd beat marquez better than pac, and marquez ko pac, they were living thru that ko, saying imagine what floyd would do? Well he didnt do much, one of the worst performances ever, and you can tell the fans have turned in him for good because he didnt win the espy, he just beat the biggest named oppponent of his career but because he didnt deliver and left a bad taste in peoples mouth even saying its pacman fault the fight was boring turned people off of him, its how you win fights that make you great, its why the casual voted ronda rousey even though her competition was nothing compared to a pacquiao, she dominates hard.
Floyd THREW and LANDED more than Pacquiao, at a BETTER percentage rate. Pacquiao did exactly as I thought he would, nothing. He was just happy to be in the moment. He got his payday at the expense of morons like you, who after he was boosted by HBO, thought he actually had a shot.
Wasn't even close.:bottle:
Sounds good... but why the need for a WBC rep on the panel... That hurts more than it helps IMO. Sanctioning Bodies need to remove themselves from subjective aspects of the sport as much as possible. Not liking where WBC boxing is going with baby Sulaiman at the wheel. Wayyyyy too involved. Even more than his father I'm afraid.
Everyone is missing the point... He is pointing out the obvious flaws in our game WHILE STILL going ahead with the fight. I'd say Triple G is a nickname that suits him well actually. :nutkick::nutkick: That means he is no punk and he is confident in beating Canelo AGAIN.
I dont blame him. Lara had his chance but decided to run around instead
He definitely outboxed him, but I understand people don't like his style. Him Rigo and Floyd might not be fun, but they are better technicians. I thought Lara landed clearer punches while Canelo followed him around like an amteur not knowing how to attack him. But the judges preferred sloppy aggression vs low volume accuracy which is fine by me. When you work the way Lara does, you can't really be surprised by that outcome.
Why is it so hard for people to see that ANYONE who COULD evade a clean punch with the skill that Floyd has would do the same EXACT thing. He is a masterful boxer. Why should he dull down his skills for the sake of making a fight more competitive when his competition is simply inferior? The San Antonio Spurs are boring but no one ever questions their tactics or greatness. You know why? Because they consistently (through the years) move the basketball better than any other NBA franchise. Nobody checked Shaq's motives for simply backing down guys a third his size. You know why? Because he was imposing his will... That is exactly the same as what Floyd does... He imposes his defense on you, gets you out of your element and makes you forget how to fight even though you are standing right there in front of him. What could be more demoralizing than not being able to his something right in front of you? Holyfield did plenty of huggery in his hayday so he needs to cut it out with the ole "back in my day" approach. 48-0 with the resume Floyd has is special.. And please save the nonsense about timing in which he fought people because he fought them all following a significant win.
Garcia would be a nice fight for him. Broner would be a fun way for Manny to get some indirect revenge. Khan or Canelo are the last meal ticket fights out there for him... Not sure its all worth it in the end though.
PAC'S BOY on suicide watch...again
Ahahaha. Dude is STILL punching a wall somewhere. Probably talking to himself visualizing the fight thru Manny's eyes trying to land combinations in the 38th round... He probably has nightmares where Manny is being thrown off of a plane with no parachute by Marquez, and Floyd is the ground. Him waking up in cold sweats.
I really hope that Canelo saw "big picture" for this deal and demanded a percentage of royalties from Golden Boy for all those shows Golden Boy picked up to be featured on DAZN. Golden Boy definitely used him as the vessel to formulate the deal and I hope (but doubt) that Oscar made sure to pay Canelo his worth since it was a major complaint of Oscar's when he left Bob Arum. $365M will be pennies compared to what Golden Boy will make as a whole in all those shows throughout the large DAZN deal. I would want a small percentage.
I agree. Make them fight for the interim... Allow Thurman the opportunity to line up an opponent prior to Porter and Garcia's fight... If he is unable to line one up for later in 2018 by that time, give the full title to the winner. It was obvious to begin with that even if Keith came back, it wasn't going to be against Danny, Shawn, or Errol. Stop letting him hold the belt hostage.
AHAHAHAHAHA!!! Dude fought Algieri in a barn burner and expected himself to be a shoe-in for this fight. What a moron. He does exactly what he "professes" against. Why don't he fight Brook or Garcia again.
I like Wilder but I think Ortiz shocks him. He has a solid chin, great technique... and excellent counter puncher with heavy hands.. Dude knows how to set traps, which I haven't regularly seen in the HW division since Lennox Lewis was running things. Of course Wilder could get him out of there... but he looks like a baby giraffe sometimes after taking subtle grazes from opponents. He also stands too low when fighting which takes away his ht adv imo. We'll see. I got Ortiz
I think their punches are very similar, but Cotto really digs in. Canelo likes to mix em up more and throw combinations so he really doesn't dig in as much IMO. The real question is who TAKES punches better and that is easily Canelo. Cotto has a very suspect chin, and its what makes him exciting to watch. He can easily hurt his opponents but he can be hurt as well. Floyd buckled him slightly in the last round, Judah hurt him twice with his signature left uppercut, Margarito, Torres almost knocked him out, Pacquiao dropped him. But I truly believe when Cotto focuses on his jab, range, distance, and timing, he is one of the best boxers out there.. People confuse him for a brawler but he is a boxer puncher. This is why people were confused when he outboxed Mosley. Mosley is not a boxer, he is a brawler...
