I'm not actually that impressed with the Berto win. He overwhelmed him and we've never seen Berto have to fight in the trenches. Except against Collazo (a fellow southpaw - but who doesn't hit as hard) and many felt he shouldn't of won. The only other people he'd been the distance with were Urango and Forbes for christ sake...
Sccccchit, people saw Ortiz's Maidana and Lamont fights and failed to realise the demands of making weight. I credit him with taking the fight but i'm not in love with him now like everyone else.
'WHO R U PICKING?'
WHO R U KIDDING?!
Darch's power had gone. Perez is slow starting, yeah he got hurt from standing too square. He was able to recover and was going to break his way back into the fight. It was stopped in the fifth round! Not for a second do i think Darch would have won in the stretch. Yeah he got off to a fantastic start... START... we didn't even see the middle rounds!
I'm getting sick of this site and the ridiculously impressionable nature of people who see one fight and suddenly decide the fighter is amazing. This was not a good win, Darchinyan does not belong in the upper echelons of the bantamweight division.
Blown up Calzaghe....?! ***** please.
In comparison with all the other middleweights in the last century to capture a heavyweight crown he's pretty awful...
Oh wait... he's the only one. Next.
I'm a big marquez fan but why did he go up? LOL. He should be at least in the 7th or 6th spot but in the top 5 I don't think so.
I can understand it, the guy started at featherweight, moved up to lightweight and stopped two guys that had never been stopped before. He just moved up too far briefly. He's never been stopped....
He was finished after the Ruiz fight. He even said that moving to heavyweight was the worst thing he's done. Add to this the weight he had to lose in the few months between Ruiz and Tarver. Watch Woods (fight before heavyweight at lightheavy) Then watch the first Tarver fight. The mass he put on and took off restricted his movement and his athleticism. Anything after Ruiz is void in my eyes.
Feel sorry! He ducks below the waistline, low blows. Uses his forearms all the time, he does those sweeping punches with the inside of his glove where the almost grabs someone and pulls them across him. The knockdown came from pushing Abraham with his forearm so he was off balance. The guy fights like a coward. He irritates his opponents, they give back as good as they get. Can't wait for someone to destroy him.
Neither. Fight Soto, unify the title then retire at the pinnacle of your third weight division.
I don't want to see a third Pacquiao fight.
No interest in Morales. I think Soto is more competitive... neither are amazing though.
Don't comment if you don't know how to use an adjective. simple.
Yeah Jimmy is uber bias, but you have to ask yourself why?
It's because it draws in fans that don't know anything about boxing, and gives them an opinion. Not a valid opinion, but and opinion none the less. But you know your smarter than when he's selling.
Just ignore 'em or with the wonders of technology, take a commercial break.
The use of "simples" is taken from this:
Don't comment about people's language without any prior knowledge of socio-cultural input. Par.
The other night during the Marquez fight when Jim said how some boxing fans (sure he's refering to us) believe Marquez beat Pacquiao, then put a really smug laugh on and then said... I don't. As if to imply he has the final word... I thought that was annoying. It's only a small thing, but he's meant to be impartial. I'd like to backhand him now.
Better than Larry Merchant. Watch the Shane v Collazo fight...
"a tattoo guy against a moustache guy"....
...leading expert right there.
no person in the world is not biased. sometimes commentators hype up fighters because it makes for better viewing, they like exaggerating stuff to get people excited.
This is true. Sometimes it amounts to a dumbed down version of WWE though.
I'm English, rooted for Ruiz v Haye, Valuev v Haye (don't like Haye if you didn't guess) Roy v Calzaghe (Mum's Welsh) Cotto v Jennings, Cloud over Woods... When you live in a sh*tty country with little sense of national pride you tend to be disloyal. Technically i was born in Germany, but i always rooted against Otke and i dislike Huck severely. Molitor over Booth is the most recent example.
Wasn't it a case of him just not enjoying the sport? I remember during the Lopez fight Lampley said something about him just enjoying playing his playstation and hanging about. It may be too difficult for him to get the motivation when it was barely there in the first place.
Not a fan of his but Hopkins, for ABC boxing skills. Hopkins gets bad rep as he's a dirty fighter.
His fights are always close, he makes adjustments. Toney has been dominated in the ring. I've never seen Hopkins completely beaten.
I think Toney is the better counter-puncher though.
I'm confused as to why so many people have voted for Toney.
I like Joe Greene though, just didn't seem able to pull it out against Martirosyan. Shame, i think that's a case of someone just getting trapped in their own world as you guys said. Didn't seem to improve much from his first fight, the Greene who fought on the undercard to Ibragimov/Klits looked identical to that against Vanes. With the right trainer/work i reckon he could turn it around though.
Jorge Arce v Abner Mares
- Sweet-ass mexican bantamweight brawl. Could be the next Marquez v Vasquez.
Lopez v Caballero
- Feel like Caballero has been chasing this fight, or so people feel this way. Would also give Lopez the credit he deserves.
Berto v Clottey
- Think it would be a good fight to watch, as long as Clottey sticks to using his hands.
If an aged Mosley knocks out Marg, what will Pacquiao do?! I don't want to see this fight at all. Pacquiao needs to go to the light-welter division for real competition.
Junior Middleweights? come to England and fight Ryan Rhodes, build an even bigger fan-base. Paul Williams? Something really impressive, if he can't get money May.
This is a difficult question.
The egg came first, into Pacquiao's breakfast. Helping him climb numerous weight divisions to fight the prize rooster. As a result, it will be the world's biggest cock-fight.
Some Scholars maintain that the egg came first, due to the appearance of Mayweather's shaven head.
Regardless of this, both fighters have been seen doing a chicken-dance or two during their careers. Arguably Pacquiao's were at the hands of lesser opposition.
I could also see it from the perspective of the chicken coming first. There has to be something tangible in order to create the golden egg that would be this fight:
The chicken (fights if you will) of Pacquiao has been the talk of the town, exciting people from all around the world. The Mayweather chicken is said to be boring but beautiful in some aspects. Regardless of this, nobody has touched the Mayweather chicken. For she is unbemished. This excites the Pacquiao chicken, who is buying dinner for the Mayweather chicken, listening to what she has to say and trying to seduce her. Despite allegations of cheating, coupled with Chicken Sr's doubt about him. Either way, the hope is she gets drunk and just does it. Then they don't have to speak again afterwards. Would just be better for all of us. The result would be an egg, that neither of them would probably just never see and pay egg support for.
Therefore, i voted egg. Having explained why i feel Chicken is a better choice. Thanks for giving me something to tear me away from revising for my 3 hour International Economics exam tomorrow.
