Why didn't he attempt to clinch either? Wtf is wrong with these guys tonight not clinching?
He was clearly out on his feet after the first right hand caught him, thats why he didnt throw as much as one back in defence.
Not great numbers for a Pacquiao fight for sure, Bradley was a lot less marketable and well known than of Pacquiao's recent opponents though,so that could explain it.
India is producing some good talent, hope some of them go pro soon. Kazakhstan to. Irish amateur boxing is on the rise and if even half of our talented fighters go pro we will have some very pro's.
Btw to the guy who said Pacquiao had no amateur career, thats BS, he was on the Philippine national team.
I think Alvarado pulls out a close decision or late stoppage. I cant see Rios dealing well when he doesnt have the physical strength, power and size adavantages over his opponents. Should be a terrific fight though.
If they are at least 30 pounds lighter than her, then maybe yeah. There's no comparison between the strength difference between women and men in all sports though.
boxing all but revolves around america
that is what it is.
recognition of that is not arrogant. it's practical.
Its changing overtime though, boxing in europe is slowly on the rise. Very rarely will you see an American boxer pack out 50 k stadiums for easy title defenses. The Klitschko's do that every time
Good list, Lomacheko has everything suited to be good at either types of the sport though.
Oscar Valdez impressed me vs Nevin, looks a solid relentless pressure fighter with a good left hook.
Beterviev and Khytrov are both very strong and hard hitting, and would be hell for a lot of fighters in the pro's.
She is good, but female boxers are clearly not as good. She is wild, is open but her opponent was so slow and still landed. Men are fast, stronger and more powerful. They also have shown much more defence than the women.
I would beat any of the women I saw in boxing and I would get ****ed up by Male Fly weights.
3 mins x 3. Let's see her do those first.
Are you an experienced amateur boxer?
yes, that's very true
cruiserweight is european based as well
and for a period of time the big fights at MW were taking place in germany
still though, and i'm sure you'll agree, the sport is for the most part still based here. fighters still aspire to fight here. the best trainers and the best sparring can be found here. we have the best gyms. and we've got the most imported talent.
No doubt, and long may it continue, I cant begrudge the US their place as the centre of boxing, considering what a history they have had with the sport.
It really is a pity, real deal is one of my favourite fighters and I hope he gets back on his feet. He has no one else to blame but himself at the end of the day though.
The ring magazine has had a tendency throughout the years to give some undeserving fights, the award of fight of the year, pre 1970's mostly. Some of the fights they have mentioned have been good bouts, but not FOTY winners.
The Klitschko's? I can name three common opponents off the top of my head, but there may be more. In this case though no-one really expected them to fight each other
Samuel Peter, Chris Byrd, Corrie Sanders.
Can someone check if there are any others?
Ross Purity, who knocked out Wladimir.
Nevin will get stopped in a pro fight versus Valdez, just look at he how put him down with a liver shot, and after the fight Nevin was still clearly hurt.
The fight reminded me of the first rounds of Lee vs Chavez.
Good win by Nevin by amateur standards of course
That was a burtal body punch, probably would have put anyone down. Nevin still showed heart and fought back well after the Knockdown.
Nevin would make a very good pro imo, he can got to the body well himself. Hes also had a dozen or so sem-pro fights in the WSB, and looked to adapt to it very well.
John Joe Nevin fought fights in the WSB, he only lost once I think but it doesn't look good on his record either way. Actually a lot of Irish amateurs have already fought in the WSB now that I think about it, Willie Mclaughlin, Jason Quigley, Kenny Egan, Sean Turner, David Oliver Joyce etc. The AIBA made a major **** up here. But at least they got a head start on their pro careers at least:boxing:
He lost vs Italian Parrinello, he has a record of 7-1.
And look at MMA they dont care about losses, they know the fights are evenly match so there will be losses in the way, in this format they are not protected, and fight vs the best, and after a losing a fight they dont dissapear and people call him bums because of that, because they already have another fight programmed in a month or so.
And they will have the chance to get a Medal at the Olympics.
2 fights vs Italian Olympians
His victory over Picardi
And his loss vs Parrinello
I disagree with the direction the AIBA are going in, but I will say this, the WSB as a very interesting idea and it did produce a lot of good fights. I kept up with it a fair bit, but I dont think it was marketed right. Not many people paid enough attention to it.
The olympics this year has been good quality action for the most part this year, very little running for the most part. Interested to see how a lot of these guys do as pros.
yes but the man has skills...nonito can be outboxed if you can avoid most of his punches which is what moreno is great at also...rigo is too inactive to outpoint someone like nonito depsite being percieved as a very skilled fighter ...and that chin aint gonna help him either...
i dont see nonito being effective in higher weightclass than 126 tbh...even at 126 , i think guys like salido would bully him around and outwork him...
When has Rigo ever shown a fragile chin? He wasnt even hurt in his knockdown vs Cordoba. And he also has a superb defense.
