This is just depressing. He's lost his house and now he's selling all of his belt's, gloves, robes, rings, and his Olympic Medal.
"Highlights from the auction include Holyfield’s 1984 Olympic Bronze Medal and 1983 Pan-Am Games Silver medal. Featured items also include over 20 pairs of fight worn gloves including the gloves worn in the June 1997 Holyfield vs. Tyson II fight — a.k.a. “The Bite Fight.” An amazing array of WBC, WBA and IBF Championship belts will be offered in the sale including Holyfield’s first ever professional title belt for his 1986 WBA Cruiserweight title. Equally as impressive are the more than 25 framed fight-worn robes and trunks including those worn by Holyfield for his 1996 upset of a then-heavily favored Mike Tyson resulting in his retention of the WBA Heavyweight title with the fight being named “Upset of the Year” and “The Fight of The Year” for 1996 by The Ring magazine."
this may be old news, just thought I should share.
You can't blame Don King for fighters being broke as in the case of Tyson and Holyfield? They made 100s of millions without Don King skimming money off the side. It's more money than most people will ever see and they really should have been more careful with it.
If you have 100 million in the bank, assuming they invest their money wisely they can live as though they are earning 1 million a year and still have an estate that is growing financially. To have 200+ million in the bank and end up broke you would have to be down right stupid.
Truth is in the above post. Rich people actually live beneath their means.
that's the trick to staying rich
if you're wealth isnt growing, it's shrinking.
managing and maintaining a level of wealth on the level that these fighters achieve is evidently not easy for them. it's hard to judge somebody who is so ignorant.
I dont know how the cs thing works but shouldn't the court re do the figures he doesn't make what he used to and it's costing him his health. Also he should start training people really at least it's steady income tons of fighters would love to train under Holyfield I bet he might be shot but his knowledge isn't.
It really is a pity, real deal is one of my favourite fighters and I hope he gets back on his feet. He has no one else to blame but himself at the end of the day though.
Guys like Don King convince successful black men that white guys always want to keep them down and steal from them, then proceed to suck them dry.
Do professional boxers have a union? Football players in the UK have the PFA and Formula 1 drivers have something similar. Too many boxers end up in trouble. Somebody needs to stand up for their interests.

Holyfield’s numbers and appetites are of biblical proportions. All those children, all those wives, all that money, all those rooms. What, exactly, is the point of having 109 rooms?
Warren Buffett, one of the richest men on planet earth, still lives in the same Nebraska home he’s owned for decades. Buffett purchased it long before becoming mega-rich. He owns several homes, of course, but it’s still his primary residence. The house is fairly modest, from what I understand. Sam Walton (the founder of Wal-Mart) continued to live in the same middle-class neighborhood even after he became a billionaire. Ol’ Sam used to drive a pick-up. The kind of money Holyfield made in his career would be considered a tiny amount to these two titans. Yet, men like Buffett and Walton respect the value of money immensely. They didn’t burn their loot, although they could’ve and never run out.
I hate to see Evander like this. I wish him well, but he’s definitely reaping what he’s sown.

Do you know if the batteries are still up for grabs? Because my TV remote is getting a bit iffy.
Unfortunately they've gone but you can still get three of the Christmas stockings and a rusty speaker.
Reminds of the Thomas Hearns auction a couple years back to pay off his IRS bill. Check out some of the things he tried to sell to make the cash:

I know it's his own doing but pretty sad to see a five division champion auctioning AA batteries.

That's just sad. I'll never understand why these guys never put away a few million for a rainy day. All they would have to do is invest it wisely and watch their money grow. At a few million dollars, they have enough to last them a lifetime.I agree. He made more money than any fighter in history, countless millions. Just take 10 of those millions and invest it or just stick it in the bank. Nobody spends huge amounts of money better than some boxers. If he had set 10 million aside he would probably figure out how to blow it in less than a year. Tyson has learned to make a good living off his name and seems to have learned not to spend so much.Holyfield owes lots of money for child support I guess. I don't know the details. The hard working poor man has to plan for his future and multi millionair athletes and show business people must do the same.
This is what you get for living in a castle and paying child support to a dozen kids.
Love how you refer to it as a castle. I refer to it by its' Biblical name "The Holy Fortress".
I don't feel an ounce of sympathy for him. If it was a case of him investing money into a business that failed then yes he'd have my sympathy but what we have here is a case of someone who has more money than sense.
Instead of spending money on expensive cars and expensive houses he should have spent his money on an education. Once you have 200 million there is nothing stopping you from acquiring an education.
I 100% agree with you about spending money on an education. I think when an uneducated person has ten of millions of dollars they feel like there's no reason to be educated anymore, like the entire point of college is to obtain millions of dollars. It's sad that they don't know any better. I honestly don't see the point in being uneducated and wealthy. Just sounds like a perfect recipe for disaster.
He probably had one small piece of furniture in each room. Like a
lawn chair in one, a nightstand in another, a sleeping bag, etc.
I also imagine his refridgerator to be overfilled with Real Deal BBQ Sauce promo bottles and the kitchen floor completely covered in piles of empty bbq sauce botttles from a steady diet of World Famous Holyfield's BBQ Sauce Shakes and BBQ Sauce Soup.
