Rocky movies are not all that great of boxing movies. Good movies, but not good BOXING movies. All they have in them is Rock's opponent beating the crap out of him in the first rounds and Rocky doesn't even use any sort of defense. Then he miraculously comes back in the late rounds and knocks his opponentes out. Ali is an excellent boxing movie, followed by Million Dollar Baby and Cinderella Man.
I just got done watching my favorite fighter fight and lose. :( I was nervous as hell. Especially when B-Hop appeared to be losing the first six rounds. It was the first time I had ever purchased a boxing event and when B-Hop was fighting Jermain Taylor I couldn't sit still. When the decision was read aloud and it was a split-decison for Taylor I literally screamed "Oh my God." out loud in front of a lot of people and felt like an idiot. Oh well, I look forward to his next fight and yes, I'll be nervous watching that one too.
The McBride and Tyson fight was ridiculous and I'm glad I didn't order it. Tyson is a washed up has-been. I like Tyson, but I'm glad he has decided to retire and do Missionary work. And, I'm new at this so I'm trying to boost my post count as much as I can.
No, I don't think Tyson could have been the greatest ever. If he didn't have all his problems he would have been good, but I'm a firm believe of the saying "There is always someone, bigger, badder, meaner, quicker, and stronger out there." Ali would have dodged and weaved all of Tyson's major shots and made Tyson dog ass tired then he would've started putting the hurt on him.
Does anyone know the name of the song that Jermain Taylor came out to last night? I have been a fan of Jermain Taylor since his first fight with Bernard, but I will always like the Executioner more. Thanks.
Hopkins vs. Winky will never happen. No reason to ask this question. We already know that Hopkins intends to fight Taylor in a rematch, Roy Jones, or Antonio Tarver. Winky is not even in the equation. Who would win this fight, though? B-Hop, because he learned from his loss to Taylor and I think Winky and Taylor have similar fighting styles.
I wish I could've watched one of his fights and I personally hope him and Bernard work out a rematch so I can watch that one. Overall, he was a great boxer.
Tyson knows he's old news and that is why he retired. I think he made a good decision, but if he decided to do this porn thing, it would be a bad call on his part. But you can't really blame a guy for wanting to make money. Beggers can't be choosers.
The headbutt that caused the cut on Taylor's head was ruled accidental. For anyone who says it was deliberate is a moron because B-Hop is smart. He should've known that if he cut Taylor and lost the fight that he would have to wait for Taylor to heal in order to get the rematch. I'm sure B-Hop didn't mean for the headbutt because he doesn't have time to "wait."
If 'if's and but's' were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas. And B-Hop would still be Undisputed Middleweight Champ. But they're not and B-Hop lost because of a stupid ass judge.:(
I think this would probably be in B-Hop's best interest too. Although, I've said that I think he should move on to the light-heavyweight division just to prove people that he can still hang even though he is 41. I think B-Hop's last two fights should be wins against Jermain Taylor. Hopefully Jermain is smart and makes B-Hop sign a rematch clause like B-Hop did to him so this can be a possibility.
Taylor never really outboxed B-Hop, though. He just threw more punches and B-Hop was letting him so he would get tired. Once he got tired, B-Hop worked him over. B-Hop just started to work Taylor too late. They both will learn things, but B-Hop has been around longer so I think he is more intelligent in the fight game and will outsmart Jermain Taylor in the rematch.
*sigh* Yes, Hopkins waited too long, but he also WON the last few rounds. One judge scored the 12th for Jermain. Did Jermain win the 12th round? Everyone else says no. So, if that judge would've been watching the 12th round and scored it for B-Hop, like it should've been it would have been a draw. B-Hop didn't deserve to lose, and he didn't deserve to win. He deserved a draw decision.
I know Taylor was tired. And that's why he lost the later rounds. In order to be a good boxer you need to PACE YOURSELF. Taylor didn't do that. Taylor didn't end up being smarter in the long run. B-Hop made a mistake. Everyone does it. Just because I were to make a mistake tying my shoe, doesn't mean the kid next to me, who tied his shoes is smarter then me because I knew 1+1=2. He didn't.
"Borekins." Wow, you really made fun of B-Hop with that one. I hope you feel real proud of yourself. Jermain did lose a lot of blood, yes. But he also spent a lot of energy in the first rounds of the fight. So, it is partially HIS fault too. And B-Hop didn't mean to headbutt him. It was ruled an accidental headbutt. And yes, I know Bernard isn't the cleanest fighter, but then again, niether am I. I like his style of fighting.
What did you just say..."X is an examination of one's boxing and blah blah blah". Dude yes the guy is a great boxer, but he's boring as fuck and has gotten by over the last several years because he fights guys with far less skills and when they are skilled they are naturally smaller dudes. He was inactive for too long Saturday....therefore he lost. Get in the fucking ring and pound the fucking kid outta there if your such a stud! He lost, deal with it!
Hahaha, B-Hop fights his game. He doesn't let his opponent force his will on him. I think it makes for a good fight, you think it's boring and you whine. I have a question for you. Did Jermain entertain you more in the earlier rounds then Bernard Hopkins did in the later rounds? If the answer is yes, you my friend, are a complete moron.
Good point, I don't think so either. A lot of people, including myself, are assuming that B-Hop is just going to wait out Taylor's injury, fight him in November/December and call it a career. I highly doubt he'll take a fight in October with Winky and fight again in November against Taylor.
I gathered your reasoning for calling him "Borekins." Just because you and several other people think he is a boring fighter doesn't mean anything. He fought a very smart fight and I'm sorry if it didn't please you. All Jermain did was throw leather. Nothing really effected B-Hop. But, B-Hop started throwing in the later rounds and those punches were effective. Hmm, still bored with how he fights? What makes Jermain Taylor so entertaining? All he did was waste his energy. Good fight, B-Hop. And as far as "nut-hugging" goes, you should read some of my other posts. I clearly stated that I thought Taylor won more rounds. Oh snap, I guess that means I'm hugging Bernard's balls. *slaps himself on the hand.* Bad Seven!
Great read, but even though Taylor took B-Hop's belts it clearly wasn't the "passing of a torch" or a "new era in Middleweight boxing." Another thing that kind've bothers me is on FoxSports.com it says something about "young bull defeats aging matador"? That is a lie. A blatent lie. Bernard will be back to shove it all back in these guys' face and I will laugh. Hard.
Zeroflip1, that KO is going to happen in the rematch. I hate to break it to you, but the judges really did decide to give the Middleweight straps to Taylor. :(
I think, because the fight was so laid back in the early rounds, the judges decided to rally behind Taylor because he was trying harder so they had him win more of the early rounds. Only allowing Bernard to have a chance at the draw and still one judge messed that up for B-Hop by saying Taylor won the 12th. (What am I? A broken record.)
Also, the judges wouldn't neet to attend fights because they'd never go to the decision and B-Hop could never get screwed again! I am a fan of this 763, 120 round rule.
Jermain Taylor isn't damaged in anyway. He knows he was beaten by Bernard Hopkins so he has told himself and everyone else that he is going to train harder and fight smarter in the rematch. Bernard will beat him again and Taylor will realize that he can't beat B-Hop, but after their match B-Hop will be getting close to retirement so Jermain will be the king of the Middleweight mountain once again. He will learn a lot more from his loss to B-Hop in the rematch then he did in his controversial win against B-Hop.
Taylor wearing himself out in the earlier rounds wasn't smart. Niether was Hopkins turning it on in the 9th round. What if Hopkins would've started to turn it on earlier then the 9th? How would Taylor of handled it if he had already wore himself out? Bad thinking on both fighters parts in my eyes.
Personally, I liked the fact that Bernard saved his energy for later rounds. I'd rather watch a guy save his energy early and land more effective and powerful punches in the long run, then watch a guy just throw punches early on and waste his energy right away. It's smart fighting in my eyes. Let your opponent wear himself out and then strike hard. I also see where it cost him in this fight because he let Jermain wear himself out for way too many rounds. He should've started earlier if he wanted to win and he didn't. He'll learn from this and beat Jermain in the rematch.
