I am going to be far too nervous with my favorite fighter in the ring after ten months as it is! If I had any more bets I think my head may literally explode with the stress of it all!
Like NiGe2011, I too get very nervous, when my favorite boxer is fighting. You know about the fight months in advance, all the anticipation, the hype is driving you nuts, so this is what I do, this is my crazy logic...
I bet against my favorite fighter. I bet for him to loose! (Two reasons)
1) I am very unlucky when it comes to betting on a winner. 90% of the time, I loose
2) If my fighter wins, than who cares if I loose the money! If he looses, well, at least you made some dough.
But if you bet on your favorite fighter, he looses AND you loose the money? That's too much of a pain!
Thus my advise to you: if you bet, bet against!
The McBride and Tyson fight was ridiculous and I'm glad I didn't order it. Tyson is a washed up has-been. I like Tyson, but I'm glad he has decided to retire and do Missionary work. And, I'm new at this so I'm trying to boost my post count as much as I can.
I just got done watching my favorite fighter fight and lose. :( I was nervous as hell. Especially when B-Hop appeared to be losing the first six rounds. It was the first time I had ever purchased a boxing event and when B-Hop was fighting Jermain Taylor I couldn't sit still. When the decision was read aloud and it was a split-decison for Taylor I literally screamed "Oh my God." out loud in front of a lot of people and felt like an idiot. Oh well, I look forward to his next fight and yes, I'll be nervous watching that one too.
Even though I'm not very big on B-Hop, I still favor him...
And this is why I bet on Taylor...
2005 is the year of the upsets.. read my sig.
So far Tyson / McBride was the only fight I've been wrong about ever since I joined the forum... I've been right about every single fight aside from that... Tyson f'ed me up! LOL
Thanks for bringing the thread back lol

I definitely get nervous, But i don't tend to bet against my fighter unless I know he is going to lose, and has no chance whatsoever. For me it's victory and cash, or loss and lost money. Betting against your fighter is bad luck I believe.
if you normally have good luck in winning, than I guess you shouldn't.. but me, most of the times I bet on something, I always loose. So by me betting against my favorite fighter is like buying him victory
I would say that i get nervous when i watch my favourite fighter. But in his words "all i have to do is turn up and ive won". This guy is simply the best. Naz Comeback??
No but seriously i do get kinda nervous when watchin live. Which is rare for me. But when i watched Howard Eastmam against Bernard Hopkins i was on edge of seat. Gotta support those from the UK u c.
Videos and DVD's take this factor away nevertheless.
i also get very nervous when my favorite fighter is fighting i am a big trinidad fan i was really nervous in his comeback fight against mayorga with the 2 yr. layoff it was the most nervous i have been for one of his fight . but what is worst is when you you know your fighter is going to loose a fight after watching a couple of rnds. and you have to sit thru it and hear shit from your friends . biggest example is when trinidad fought hopkins after about rnd. 4 i knew that he was going to loose but i had to sit thru the pain until the tko in the 12th. that was brutal .
True, but like tonight, i don`t like Joe Calzaghe but i bet a few pounds on him winning in either the first or second round as i really feel he`ll win in the opening two frames. I just want money i gues lol.
But a simular bet for me would be to bet on Chico Corrales. I hate the guy and if he lost i wouldn`t mind losing the money cos the woman beater would have been defeated!

Oh yes, BTW.. Same theory I apply in reverse
So when I don't like a fighter (like Toney) I bet on him Vs. Ruiz.
I knew he would win.. he is a very good fighter, but I just don't like his personality.. So if Toney would loose, I would loose the points but I would still be happy that he lost. And if he wins (as he did) I win points along the way.
But all you other Toney haters bet on Ruiz, which was SOOOO stupid.. Toney still won AND you lost all your points!
I was nevious when Toney came in at 233 for his fight with Ruiz. I thought ( i think others will agree ) that Toney had already blown it. Thankfully, Toney pulled it out but a near heart attack!
Kimmy, thanks for the advise.. but did you read my first post? LOL:D
No i didn`t read it, you said the same thing lol! Well, that`ll teach me to pay more attention in the future!
i get nervous cause if my fav figter loses thats all peopel will talk about to me. if someoen ask whats 1+1 anmd i say its 2 and they ask if its correct some asswhole will be like dont beilve him was he correct when he picked his fav fighter to win and he lost remember that ha ha ha.
I think in boxing it is so much more magnified then it is in other sports (at least for me) because in reality every fight is kind of like a championship game. I mean, every loss carries so much along with it in terms of loss of stature and what not. And win or lose you probably are not going to see your fighter in there again for at least another few months. Boxing is just really intense, and that is probably why we love it so much.
I never get nervous.
Because my guy is Bernard Hopkins and I know he won't take stupid risks to get himself KTFO. I just anticipate his moves
but when estrada, my 2nd fav fighter was fighting mosely, I was very nervous
You should get nervous come july!
Thats the beauty of boxing, its not the end of the fight that decides the winner, its anytime, any punch that could clinch it.
It's amazing there is no tension like a live fight, where you are rooting for a fighter.
