UFC PPVs get about 800k buys? really?
UFC 57: Liddell vs. Couture 3 - 400k - 410k
UFC 58: USA vs Canada - 290,000-300,000
UFC 59: Reality Check - 415,000-435,000
UFC 60: Hughes vs. Gracie - 615,000-625,000
UFC 61: Bitter Rivals - 775,000 - All time record so far
UFC 63 probably did at least 500k
UFC 65 will probably do at least 600k
UFC 66 Liddell vs. Ortiz II will likely at least a million PPV buys.
Pacman-Morales III, imo, will do at least 350,000. You guys are crazy thinking it will do only 200k. What about international buys, and al that?
wow a lot of hate on both sides of the fence. Honestly I'll probably get both. I'll watch the pac fight and then order the replay of the UFC. I'm praying pac puts morales into retirement. In my opinion its not a matter of which one is better, they both are highly entertaining. I can't even concider the two in the same light because they are so different at the core. I'm no frat boy and grew up with a sincere love of boxing however when isn't a straight up street brawl not entertaining. MMA isn't all that new and I think the attention it is getting is purely based on excellent promotion. Boxing will never die, but don't expect mma to fade away any time soon.
MMA won't die or fad away either, but it's PPV numbers WILL taper off come 2007. They won't see a million buys(Liddell-Ortiz II) or even 750k buys anymore. They are running out of interesting match ups unless they can get some of the Pride fighters to come to the UFC. IMO, come 2007 and so forth, UFC PPV buys will likely average around 300-400 buys.
Like Gomez had said, there was no boxing skill shown in that fight.
Bravo had some nice uppercuts, double'd them up.
Had Rudy actually used the jab, and stayed on the outside, he would have won easily, but it would have been boring.
It was a war and entertaining to say the least.
yes pacquiao wins, specially in the phillipines...
You're so full of it aren't you? It's hard to win anywhere when you only win 2-3 rounds and got KD'ed twice.
EDIT: Dammit dude, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. You haven't posted a single serious post, except for that last one.
I asked this in the thread about fighters having 100 fights, but now I'm really curious. Does anyone know how the average PPV buy rates in boxing stack against the UFC buy rates? I think the Mosley-Vargas fight did about 475,000 or something like that and the DLH-Mayorga was something like 800,000 or 900,000 buys. Those numbers might be off but they are what comes to mind, but I never hear what the UFC numbers are. With all this talk of UFC being a looming threat to boxing it would be interesting to see how the numbers compare.
I just answered this(your) question in this topic:

Here's what I posted:
UFC has surpassed the WWE in pay-per-view buys already.
UFC 59(with the return of Tito Ortiz) had 400,000+ buys. The past UFC events have been averaging similiar figures also(UFC 58 had 300k, UFC 57 had 400+K also). UFC 60(Gracie vs Hughes) will probably surpass that.
Still not nearly as much as boxing. DeLahoya-Mayorgo had almost 900,000 buys.
Anybody know how many pvv buys Pacquaio-Morales 2 had?
I think UFC 60 will probably surpass 500k buys the way they hyped it up. It was a good event though. I didn't buy it, but people who did said it was worth it.
I still wanna know how the Morales-Pacman 2 fight did? I'm thinking of all the buys from Mexico and the Phillipines, or does it work differently?
Does anyone know how the UFC PPVs perform in terms of buy rates as opposed to the average of boxing PPVs?

Pac had his chin checked and was KO'ed twice by guys you have never heard of with names you couldnt pronounce even if you had. Barrios had his checked and was TKO'ed by Popo.
Both are murderous punchers. Just looks to me like Barrios has the better chin. If Pac lets Barrios hit him like he let MAB or Morales hit him...he goes out.
I'll take Barrios by mid round KO....but its just whoever lands that big punch first. Toss up.
WTF are you talking about? Pacman got dropped on body shots.
I don't get how Barrios is so big when's he's only 5'6". I think Pacman is even a bit taller than that.
How much does Liddell get per fight?
around 200 K
Damn, and I thought boxing was corrupt.
Chuck Liddell:
UFC 57 defeated Randy Couture - $250,000
UFC 62 defeated Babalu - $250,000
UFC 66 defeated Tito Ortiz - $250,000
Remember a couple of things:
1. That is just the disclosed salary figure. That does not include any bonuses(KO of the Night, Fight of the night, etc.) NOR PPV cuts top MMA have in their contracts. Tito and Chuck both made between 2-3 million for UFC 66, mainly due to PPV % cuts. Also, that does not include any advertisement deals.
However, only top draws get pvv cuts, so everyone else is still making peanuts compared to even b-level boxers. So brings up with next point.
2. MMA is barely a 15 year old sport, and for half of that time, it wasn't as organized or even sanctioned as it is now.
Oh yeah, to say MMA fighters have no skill just shows you're in denial.
LMAO.............I didn't even think Manny would try to play it off like that. If so, then he can really act.
I've got to watch it again, but I thought he was really rocked and wobbly.
It doesn't matter if the "general" public doesn't know they are, they are still bringing in what the Klitschkos or the Hopskins in their divisions can bring TENFOLD. They generate a ton of money, yet only get a fraction of it, and that isn't fair.
Btw, is Pacman finally going to break a million this time or what?
MAB should unify all the belts first and then do a Super-Mega fight with Pacman. Think about about: Unifying the 130 division would just solidfy MAB place in history and put him over the hump and be hailed as the greatest Mexican fighter ever. Then when he fights Pacman, it doesn't matter if he loses. He can retire after really being "on top".
EDIT: Wait, when MAB fights Chavez, will he be giving up his two belts? He should just fight Barrios instead and get that WBO belt.
Note: How much was the Pac-Morales 2 purse? And what was a split?
Not pacman! that is too soon and they need to devise a plan to build up on that fight! they have to really promote the pac v barrera fight to make it the biggest fight in the lower weights ever...they can earn 4 million a piece if oscar decides to be fair instead of wanting a 60 40 split.
It is barrios.
Well, here's my idea. Oscar can pull that 60/40 split IF MAB can unify the 130lb division. There's no way Pacman would refuse it since a rematch will be for MAB's undisputed championship which Pacman will likely take, and it would solidy both as the top 2 greatest flyweights ever!
^you said it yourself perfect situation for MAB not pacman hahaah are you goldenyboy oscar de la hoya on an alias?lol
Well, the undisputed champion has to take the bigger split, but this situation is perfect for Pacman since he will take the all the belts from MAB and be the unidisputed champeen of the world. Then there will be no ill talk of who is the best and who is the champ. He will be on top for a good while so more money will be made. **** no I ain't with gayboy productions. I just want Pacman to go down in history as the greatest 130lber ever :boxing:
You're not using common sense.
Let's do the math kid.
Morales easily outdraws MAB 3 to 1 in PPV.
Just imagine how much PAC will outdraw MAB... let me give you a clue...
It's like 10 to 1. lol!
PAC is the real champ. Pussy MAB is just the paper champ.
It doesn't matter if Pac outdraws MAB, my situation is the perfect situation for MAB, and MAB will still take the higher split, AND Pacman will still fight MAB no matter what, especially when he sees all those belts.
The big difference is Manny is humble and has heart and avenged his loss. Tito and Hamed lacked heart and never avenged their losses. The last two didnt deal well with adversity and were both quitters!!
Well, who came from the worst backgrounds? It's Manny remembering where he came from that keeps him going.
But like I said, MAB wouldn't care if he loses. Once he unifies the division, he is ****ing set, and will probably go down as the greatest Mexican fighter. That accomplishment will be magnified even more since he is already 32. And MAB being the undisputed champion would make it hard for Pacman to have a bigger/draw split.
Commentators are making this fight seem closer than it actually is.
5 rounds to 2, with a 10-8 Rd.1
Vargas is fighting in spurts and the commentating is giving him the rounds because of it.
Vargas threw like 15 punches that round. He's fighting like a little bitch.
If this is your last fight, even if you came in out of shape, at least MAKE A FIGHT with it.
