Oscar Vs Floyd mayweather....
I was readin sherdog and they were saying chuck liddells a bigger draw then oscar...and that fight will make close to 1 million ppv buys...or even higher surpassing oscars fight.
how many of you agree?
also they said for everyone to order the ufc 65 this week so they can crush the pacquiao fight in numbers so it shows mmas dominance over boxing they want to end it..
boxing had an entire season of the Contender
but the reason why contender didnt help boxing is because they edited teh fight and the Ultimate fighter show showed the whole fight...
if contender showed the entire fight boxing would have more fans believe it.
The Contender was not used to promote a ppv fight. The entire season of The Ultimate Fighter 3 was made to promote Ortiz versus Shamrock 3, so that is completely different.
Boxing has had its highs and lows..it might be at a low point right now but it will never die. theres too much blood sweat n tears put into this and sooo much history. on a global scale i believe boxing is bigger. but theres alot of great talent coming up in the future and this shit is stayin. fuck MMA anyone who likes to see two men growp each other and hug is on the other side of the bench.. gettin there chocolate packed lol
most of the new UFC fans dont know that. To them, these two are the hottest ticket around. Youre going to see a near-instant sellout for this fight, as opposed to the relatively weak sales for Pacquiao/Morales.
How could they not know that???
It shows it in the commercials and pressers promoting the fight!
MMA won't die or fad away either, but it's PPV numbers WILL taper off come 2007. They won't see a million buys(Liddell-Ortiz II) or even 750k buys anymore. They are running out of interesting match ups unless they can get some of the Pride fighters to come to the UFC. IMO, come 2007 and so forth, UFC PPV buys will likely average around 300-400 buys.
I think the UFC fans of today never were really much into it back in the day when it started. anybody that watched it back then and saw how it is today, they wouldn't watch it. period. their talent level is at an all time low already, even for them. a lot of their fighters get into mma because they spend too much time lifting weights at gyms, shooting the juice, and they want to be like these "big, tough hotshots" they see on tv that get the easy women. not to mention they were probably never that good at real sports, so they had to resort to wrestling in high school
UFC 57: Liddell vs. Couture 3 - 400k - 410k
UFC 58: USA vs Canada - 290,000-300,000
UFC 59: Reality Check - 415,000-435,000
UFC 60: Hughes vs. Gracie - 615,000-625,000
UFC 61: Bitter Rivals - 775,000 - All time record so far
UFC 63 probably did at least 500k
UFC 65 will probably do at least 600k
UFC 66 Liddell vs. Ortiz II will likely at least a million PPV buys.
Pacman-Morales III, imo, will do at least 350,000. You guys are crazy thinking it will do only 200k. What about international buys, and al that?
wow never knew that, thats an awful lot even if there PPV are only 10-20$$$ cheaper then boxing
wow a lot of hate on both sides of the fence. Honestly I'll probably get both. I'll watch the pac fight and then order the replay of the UFC. I'm praying pac puts morales into retirement. In my opinion its not a matter of which one is better, they both are highly entertaining. I can't even concider the two in the same light because they are so different at the core. I'm no frat boy and grew up with a sincere love of boxing however when isn't a straight up street brawl not entertaining. MMA isn't all that new and I think the attention it is getting is purely based on excellent promotion. Boxing will never die, but don't expect mma to fade away any time soon.

UFC PPVs get about 800k buys? really?

I've sparred with a couple of mma guys before. Horrible and sloppy form, brawlers that hit hard, decent endurance. Rich Franklins workout is vry impressive i must say though. In my opinion, MMA fighters are to boxing as cheerleaders are to dancing.
thats why im going to be at the sports city cafe....im watching both......one screen GSP vs. matt hughes and on the other big screen hopefully Morales putting on a clinic....im a fan of both....i do think though that the UFC will win this weekend just because lidell and tito are their money men like oscar and tito are to boxing....no way does it do more than may 5th mega fight though.......

My ass it will make more money. MMA is not very big to alot of people.
I apologize, I just looked it up and in the article I was reading buy rate estimates hadn't been processed yet for Ortiz versus Shamrock 2. Still though, they had an entire season of a reality show behind the promotion of the fight, and in front of the biggest ppv audience ever, it was an extremely crappy ppv where the main attraction fight was never in any doubt and the heavyweight fight was a snoozer. Just like with Hughes versus Gracie, where fans where basically duped into believing that it was a competitive fight in order to sell ppvs. Both those shows where not good for the health of UFC ppv sales in the long term.

Give me a fucking break. The all-time record for UFC sales was 600 000, which was Hughes versus Gracie. Ortiz versus Liddell is not a bigger draw than that. De La Hoya versus Mayweather, is guaranteed to have over a million buys. Not only is their no fucking way that Liddell versus Ortiz will beat it. And your predicting 150 000 to 200 000 buys for Pac Morales, once again, give me a break, the buys will probably get up over 400 000.
I am getting sick and tired of you posing as a boxing fan yet you just jump at every opportunity to claim that boxing is dying, UFC is taking over, all bullshit. You have been spreading blatant lies about UFC ppv buys compared to boxing, like when you said "UFC has been regularly getting over 600 000 buys".
At least admit what your agenda is, rather than claiming to be a boxing fan.
wrong!
the all time record was tito vs ken shamrock 2 it brok 775,000 ppv buys.
