Guys, I'm a fairly casual boxing fan outside of fighters from the uk, so therefore I haven't seen a lot of Garcia outside of the Khan fight
It seems a lot of people aren't a big fan of him but when I look at some of the names on his CV (Khan, Morales, Judah, Matthysse, Herrera, Peterson) it suggests that he's elite quality
Why is it that he's not seen as such?
yeah, I just meant in terms of building the fight up a bit, outside of boxing Parker isn't really a name
I look forward to this fight if it ever happens though
Absolutely mad fight, but he's got nothing to lose really, either he gets beat by Canelo which is nothing to be ashamed about seeing as he's fighting a world class operator two weight divisions up
Or he unbelievably manages to get a win....
After this, I think the Brook fight will still be on the table even if he loses (unless Canelo actually breaks his chin...)
I'm getting really up for this fight, initially after announced I was thinking it would be a mismatch but I'm really looking forward to this. Would like Amir to do it, but I think we'll see the two things that have stopped Khan becoming elite, silly mistakes and a chin that's too brittle.
Oh well, WAR KHAN!
I don't think the actual fight suggests Wlad deserves a rematch as tyson was fairly comfortable, but I think he deserves the rematch because of how much he has dominated the division for 10 years, he has earnt the right to make up for that performance.
I hope Fury wins again though.
Would be a great win for both of them...
If Kovalev wins he's beaten a a technically fantastic boxer who's beaten some greats boxers in Froch, Abraham, Kessler, etc
If Ward wins he's beaten someone who's absurdly powerful, with more than good enough boxing ability too.
Can't call this at all, most 50/50 fight in a while and I can't wait
Definitely not race.
As a south african, i like to support our boys as theirs not too many left at the top level now, so if Zolani Tete or Tommy Oousthuizen, etc are fighting i'll support them.
Apart from that may the best man win really
Yeah by hugging and wrestling but even then he was stepped to the ropes.
I think he showed a good defensive game, but don't get me wrong I've already said I thought Kovalev should have won this, definitely should be rematch!
What? Barrera's an amateur, he didn't even know how to fight, cool name but an amateur.
I was just saying if either manage to go onto have good careers, they'll look more impressive too.
Not that they're impressive now.
Regardless, he doesn't need them to, his resume now is outstanding.
Outstanding resume - Froch, Kessler, Abraham, Kovalev
Also fighters like Brand and Barrera could go onto have decent careers which would make those wins more impressive.
I had Kovalev shading the decision but I could see the argument for Ward, once he rematches him and if he manages to win, there's no arguments about him being a HOF, infact he probably doesn't even need that win.
If he can beat Kov again, GGG, Stevenson, the arguments going to be there for him being one of the best ever
No need to face GGG that win is a step backwards a win over the child raping pimp elevates him further though.
Regardless if it will be one of his easier fights because of the size difference, a win over GGG still looks impressive on his resume
brand is 40 years old, i doubt he's going to suddenly grow into a world class boxer at this point
and shabranskyy will kick barrera's ass in december
didn't realise he was 40, my bad haha
I can't stand the guy but he certainly makes the HW division more interesting. We didn't really get to see what he's got left in the De Mori fight, but if he's 80% of the fighter he was, I reckon he beats 95% of this HW division.
This is a disgrace, making a mismatch this big is unsafe, how can they sanction this? Unfortunately Dave Allen has a good chin, so he's going to stay on his feet and take a hell of a beating, I hope there's no serious injuries after this.
