David Haye has announced his next fight after his blistering ring return earlier this month.
The Bermondsey heavyweight (27-2, 25 KOs) took just 131 seconds to get rid of Mark de Mori (30-2-2, 26 KOs) at a full-to-capacity O2 Arena on January 16, exclusively live on UK TV channel Dave.
Haye, 35, will be hoping to do a similar job when he fights again at the London venue in the spring versus a yet-to-be-named opponent. He will return to action in his second fight under new trainer Shane McGuigan on May 21 and he believes that the next opponent is just another hurdle on his way to getting back to the top of the tree and dominating the heavyweight division once again.
“After being out of the ring for so long it was incredible to be fighting in a capacity crowd at the O2 Arena in front of my loyal fans,” said Haye.“I’m thankful for all the support I’ve received so far. I felt so cool and calm in there [in my last fight].
“I don't believe any heavyweight in the planet could have taken those punches [that I hit Mark de Mori with]. Now is my time to prove they can’t. The Heavyweight division is once again incredibly exciting, with a number of talented fighters vying for the world titles. ‘The Hayemaker’ is back and ready for the next challenge.”
