The Walters threads were similar. So many picked Rigo too. They’ve changed now to dismissing whoever he fights with “wait until he fights someone good” even though the same idiots are in these threads being wrong every time and hyping the other guy up. same thing will happen to davis when lomachenko outclasses him. these same fools who like to discredit a highly skilled fighter like loma are the same ones who claim to love only fighters who are highly skilled always yapping about how skills pay bills blah blah blah. turns out it they are full of crap and you see them showing their true colors lol.
Pacquiao is the greatest of his era. not of all time all though he's still active so knows how much further Pac could go! what Pacquiao did won't be topped. he surpassed what henry armstrong did! that's amazing!
wlad klitschko is better! he was more dominant than ward! he fought longer and he proved he was the best far longer than ward did plus ward had lot stretches where he was inactive plus ward quitting the sport when light heavyweight was super red hot hurts him.
Absolutely YES! lomachenko has the wba wbc and the wbo belt. lopez has the ibf belt. lomacheno is going to beat down and embarrass lopez in front of his daddy and the rest of the world watching on tv. Major props to bob arum Top rank and espn for not putting it on PPV which they easily could have done. lets not go full ****** with PPVs like those clowns at pbc.
What will be said if Lopez actually catches Lomo and beats him? Will he be given credit or will it be a fluke and Lomo still be held in regards to some of the greats? I ain't putting money on the fight but I see it as a possibility Lopez can win this fight. and if loma wins will you give him credit? or will you just say lopez was a bum
Oh no I will definitely give Lomo credit even if he loses the dude is talented but I think people are underestimating Lopez look if lopez wins how can anyone not give him credit? its hard seeing it happening because loma is so good! and it ain't like loma has an amir khan level chin. I give credit to lopez for even calling out loma following through taking the fight and putting his undefeated record on the line.
Broner’s dominant win over Demarco was seen as special. Demarco was probably a better fighter than Commey, from what I remember of him. Plus beaten better fighters. You’re right Broner was more hyped though. Broner had a following. lopez's second round demolition of commey was special unless you think he is nothing. commey was supposed to take lopez into deep waters and test him. lopez blew him away without breaking a sweat. commey arguably should have been undefeated before the lopez bout.
Disagree with this post. Lopez is no where near as one dimensional as Broner.
Come October Lopez will be the next boxing star after knocking out Lomochenko NOPE! that's like you winning lottery or the miami hurricanes being good LOL it just isn't going to happen. lopez is going to be the next nicholas walters remember him? a big puncher who overwhelmed by lomachenko.
The kid just doesn’t do enough, and he’s too simple for the style he likes to use.
Think’s he’s some great counter-puncher but has issues getting counter’s off. Mainly because he only know’s how to use his feet for big leaps like he’s trying to imitate Roy Jones(except Teofimo has next to no feints). You’ll never see Lopez stutter step back to maintain the ideal distance to just make his opponent fall short and for him to get a counter off ala Rigondeaux or Mayweather. And he’s not as flexible as James Toney to stand and counter as effectively, nor is his counterpunching offense diverse enough. Nearly always it’s a counter right hand, counter right uppercut, counter right hand left hook, that’s about it.
On the lead 70% of his offense is double jab, Sht right hand to setup leaping left hook. Leaping left hook. Rinse, repeat. For the other 30% when he;s actually trying to be active he might actually work something off those jabs, but most of the times he’s just killing energy leaping around aimlessly. It lasts for about a round, then he’s gassed, orbiting along the ropes, trying to clinch and will eventually get too tired to even properly defend. Lomachenko is going to kill this kid.
Another thing that bothers me is, he doesn’t even have a counter left hook. What kind of self-respecting counter-puncher doesn’t have a counter left hook? Even Broner has that. He would have had a much easier time with Nakatani if he would throw that punch. But the guy is only ever thinking about rolling his shoulder, thus every counter starting with a right hand. Somehow hasn’t figured out you can roll your shoulder whilst throwing a left hook.
Essentially, he;s just Broner all over again. Broner was hyped too (FOTD), had a ton of speed and power (actually think Broner hit harder). All the talent in the world. But peanuts for brains.
Actually, I think Broner was better. Lopez has to evolve or he has no future at this level. Outside of hailmary shots most elite’s will whoop his ass. loma will beat lopez as for broner he was way over hyped lopez has never gotten that level of hype. broner never pulled off a performance like lopez's against commey. plus lopez is smarter than broner but that's not saying much hahaha
What would the problem with that be?
Broner won world titles and lost to some fellow world class fighters. Not everybody can be elite and almost nobody goes undefeated at a good level.
If any boxer has the career Broner did, they will have had a very successful career. 99.9% of Fighters that lace up the gloves don’t get anywhere near that level apart from picking up meaningless titles (the value of titles have been watered down due to the 4 belt era) what's been so successful about broner's career? he was a massive disappoint. he's not only lost every big fight of his career he massively under performed in those fights to the point it became an embarrassment. he looks to be done at an age where he's physically in his prime.
When you lose in any sport, even a blowout loss like let’s say in MLB (baseball) 20 to 1, that’s still just 1 loss out of 162 games and your fans won’t stop supporting because of that blow out loss.
In boxing a KO loss could mean the end of your career, or the beginning of the end heading towards a downward spiral. It takes a special fighter to beat the odds. It seems like if you manage to come back from a KO loss, fans will get back on bandwagon but that KO loss will always follow you around as some sort of proof that you are not that good. And when you have two of them, you pretty much become almost gatekeeper status.
As the decades go by, it’s becoming more and more like that. I can deduct that it didn’t used to be like that decades ago like early 1900s-1980s or so. But it is like that now. captain obvious over here!
Bob Arum. Next he’s gonna put Crawford in there with Berto or Soto-Karrass berto was good enough for gayweather jr to fight on ppv. put some respect on berto's name.
Kell Brook has been offered around $1.5 million for a November bout on an ESPN platform vs. 147-pound champ Terence Crawford, sources tell @TheAthletic. Josesito Lopez previously approached about fighting Crawford but he’s likely fighting Maurice Hooker on Spence-Garcia undercard— Mike Coppinger (@MikeCoppinger) August 27, 2020
wtf man, who thought that was a good idea?? :lol1: its to let brook know he better not mess around and take what they are offering. if brook wants to play hardball he will simply be replaced with another opponent.
Lol omg that would be the ugliest fight in history bradley wins by decision over porter all day long! bradley can switch his style up when he needs to he can box like he showed against marquez and he can brawl as seen in his fight with ruslan. plus in a clash of heads bradley wins every time!
Porter would use his footwork and jab, he always does use it to cone inside. Pac had trouble with the style of Horn and Bradley before it and Porter is Bradley 2.5 as far as skill and talent. I'm not sayibg Pac couldn't win, he can, but even Pac's trainer knows it would be a tough fight. NOPE! how long have you been watching boxing? bradley can actually box. we've seen porter try to box and its comical LOL. when porter tries to box it always backfires on him watch his fight against ugas to see what I'm talking about
He beat Horn and almost knocked him out
I don't care what the bs scorecards said
Doing better than expected doesn't beat a champion, I'm afraid horn's punches never even bothered pac it was horn's repeated illegal headbutts that the ref let horn get away with due to the fight being in horn's home country that did more damage lol horn's head did more damage than his punches. pac beat horn up knocked him down and won the fight! you can throw those BS scorecards in the trash!
Yeah I mean Crawford-Thurman is must watch but Thurman is YEARS removed from prime. And I'm not convinced his "prime" was ever all that impressive.
Crawford has only had 1 PPV to my knowledge (Khan) but if it was two it was also (Postol). Neither Khan (in 2019) nor Postol (ever) are remotely comparable to Manny. So Keiths PPV success had a LOT to do with Manny imho, but Keith is a good opponent for anyone in terms of viewership.
Crawford and Top Rank need to fork out some $$ if they want Terrence to be the star he could be (skillwise). Otherwise he'll be an underperformer just like Bradley. crawford needs to forget thurman and go after pacquiao. we all ready know pacquiao is not fighting danny spence or porter next! pac is available! thurman brings nothing to the table he has no belt he's not a ppv draw he's coming off a loss and to top it all off he's asking for crazy money. give that 10 mil to pacquiao plus ppv upside and lets get pac vs crawford on!
Neither have the IT factor. Spence looks half asleep and has a personality of a tree. Borrrring.
Garcia sounds like some square Mexican kind of like Leo Santa Cruz and is extremely uninteresting. On top of that, his face isnt marketable.
They are both very good fighters but in terms of being household names and superstars, I dont see it.hahahaha or spence looking drunk! I agree both of them do not have the IT factor! mikey is just dull as as hell outside the ring and inside nothing stands out about him.
Thanks. I agree with something you touched on earlier; it’s a shame Mikey lost two years of his career. We’ll never know what that might’ve meant, but we can easily conclude that he lost momentum, wins and exposure during some important, formative years. Of course, he could’ve been derailed; but, from the looks of it, more harm was done than good. Another career blindsided by contractual isssues. and that's totally on mikey he got out of his contract with Top rank but at major cost and its partially a reason for the spence fight happening mikey lost a lot of time and momentum this fight will be by far his biggest payday he rushed to take this fight. he is 31 and time is ticking.
This means he will be signing with DAZN.
PBC ain't paying Tank that kind of money with their Fox/Sho deal.word on the street is davis has an exclusive contract with showtime lol if that's true what a crappy time to sign that contract when dazn is here literally giving away millions.
Well he can become a massive PPV star in america, If everyone bolt to DAZN then who else has showtime got that is devastating? They just need to market him in the right way, they are making the same mistake that they made with Wilder, Tank need proper competition. Not fighting under-weight latinos with the hope they sell his fights through that audience.there are three major reasons he won't become a ppv star first he's too small all the ppv stars in history have fought at welterweight or above number 2 davis won't fight anyone good 3 he doesn't have charisma and he sounds like a retard whenever he opens his mouth.
The only way Mikey doesn't come out a winner of this bout is if he suffers irreparable irreversible harm in the bout (see Brook breaking his face). Doesn't matter how he loses, he can just go back down to a lower division and resume his career.that's easy for you to say but a loss could totally destroy mikey mentally especially a decisive knockout loss. there is no going back to a lower division and just resuming his career.
