The numbers aren't so bad. Boxing content is cheap as hell compared to other sports; there are going to be dates where the cards aren't super interesting and/or up against another heavily watched sporting event (Lakers Celtics). This card fell into both categories and did a weaker number.... it's to be expected.
This simply isn't true. Primetime network TV you should roll out of bed and draw over 2M viewers. These cards should be doing a minimum 2M rating. The excuse oh the lakers and celtics were playing? The lakers have Lebron on a minutes restriction and half their team sitting out the game as they aren't even trying to make the playoffs anymore. PBC has not even cracked 2M viewers since they signed with FOX last year. This card drew 1.3 overnight /1.6M final, last card before that drew 1.26 overnight /1.376 final. You have fringe sports and reruns that are much cheaper drawing higher ratings then this. And FOX debuted with Charlos doing 1.6 overnight /1.9 final. Everyone said Charlo's aren't known the numbers aren't great but would go up. Instead Thurman a much bigger star did virtually the identical numbers to Charlo and the last 2 FOX cards since have dropped not gone up. Leo Santa Cruz didn't do well but Porter is one of the most well known fighters on the entire PBC roster.
Every week the FOX cards pull bad ratings the excuse is well there is other stuff on TV. Dec, Jan, Feb, March FOX has put on a card each of these months how many times we going to use this same excuse? This is the dead months in sports where you don't even have football and March Madness or the NBA playoffs haven't started yet. lol

And for those saying these are comparable to UFC on FOX? That's a lie. In the 7 year history of UFC on FOX the lowest overnight rating they ever got was 1.5M. The lowest final numbers they ever got was 1.7M.

And those numbers have a asterisk with them because UFC signed their new deal with ESPN early last year. FOX and UFC had a lame duck year where FOX knew they were leaving and drastically cut down the promotions for UFC as they played out the final dates left on their contract. So of course the last few UFC cards were their worst ratings. And still UFC's worst ratings are better then PBC's.
All but 2 cards in UFC's entire history on FOX did lower then 1.8M viewers. Only 5 cards in their entire history failed to do over 2M viewers. Again almost all of those lows only came after UFC signed with ESPN.
All due respect, but I respectfullu disagree. IMO those numbers are just bad. Plant vs Uzcategui did 986k on FS1 a paid cable channel, on a Sunday.
This did 1.3 million and is in everyone's house that has a working television in the USA on a Saturday.
If they want fans I don't know why they would put Porter who has a spoiling grinding kind of style, and a Cuban on primetime television. This fight had Showtime or FS1 all over it.
PBC has 12 dates (one a month if I recollect correctly) to fill on Fox. What 12 other fighters are bigger draws than Porter, who is signed to PBC?
1.3 or 1.9M is decent numbers for Porter v mandatory although he did himself no favor in this fight with that performance
I expect Danny Garcia is going to do better numbers
False post...this is based off of the fast nationals, which are not an accurate representation of ratings.
Actual ratings will be out mid week.
The peak will be around 1.9 million, real numbers will be out by Wednesday/Thursday...let's wait before over-reacting.
1.9 will be a solid peak considering Spence/Garcia have dominated the promo recently.
I think the biggest ratings are yet to come with Hurd/Jrock and potentially Wilder/Breazle on FOX.
PBC on FOX in general has been doing amazing considering this is North America's reintroduction to boxing. Definitely neck and neck with UFC and much better than what UFC on FOX was doing in 2018.

Again for Boxing, it is OK...
Boxing as a whole is just not that popular in the US and as a whole it will never been, only certain fighters will get the big ratings and big ppv buys not all. Same in all Sports though, certain teams draw big ratings when they play on ABC, ESPN or TNT and others don't
Yeah Shawn Porter fight style turn off even some Hardcore Boxing Fans so yeah I do agree that who they put on FOX effects Ratings of course. Leo Santa Cruz fight should not have been on FOX either.
For THE SPORT OF BOXING those ratings are OK
But that 18-34 and 18-45 Demographic...I think ALL OF BOXING Should be concern with their Audience being OLDER and them struggling with get that younger Demo to watch the sport of boxing. Yes it effects DAZN and ESPN+ as well because that 18-34 Demo are the ones who use APPS more and if they not into the sport in the US then who the hell is going to Subscribe to DAZN and ESPN+ for boxing?
The Sport of Boxing is not in a good space in the US despite all the money being spent on it. Lets hope that changes but it is a uphill battle for ALL OF THEM
This was a FS1 Quality fight not "Big FOX" Network!
How do you reach that younger Demo? A Quality Boxing Video Game like every other sport including WWE Wrestling releases one every year :dunno: Every Sport has a Video Beside Guess What? BOXING!

I don’t follow this sort of thing enough to have a frame of reference. But I do know that boxing isn’t what it used to be, and these are simply not big names within a sport that has seen better days. I don’t know what people here expect. The numbers seem, at least to this layperson, fairly reasonable, all things considered.
