I think it could have gone either way, so when 3 judges score the same thing, I can't argue.
So now we have a polite, good-looking undefeated 27 year old with 2 wins over b-hop. I think a star is born... until he fights jeff lacy of course -=D
I was just frustrated the Taylor kept missing with the one-two over & over & over. After Taylor's jab, B-Hop would ALWAYS duck & Taylor just kept over shooting it! arghhghg I think he needs to work on more variety. I think an uppercut would have done wonders.
who wants to watch the perfect fighter anyway?
i've always had a soft spot for fighters who have power but weak defense. they keep me on edge the whole fight because he can knock out or be knocked out at any second (ie corrales, gatti).
larry merchant said, "bernard hopkins looks scarier without his executioner's mask," and that hurt hopkin's feelings so he couldn't fight as well.
No really, Larry Merchant really did say that.
Winky Wright couldn't knock out my grandma. He's a boring fighter to watch. Not looking forward to it.
I don't blame a fighter for not having power, but when a fighter is complacent with winning every fight by decision, BORING.
If I was a was a casual boxing fan, I would have been put to sleep. But since I was rooting for Taylor to win, I was on edge the whole fight because I knew Hopkins could turn it on at any second and hurt Taylor. That made it exciting for me.
When Taylor fights, he looks like a puppy because his legs are so unsteady. Lower weight fighters take like 20 bombs a round & are still fine. Everytime Taylor gets hit, it looks like he's gonna fall.
That 3 punch combination in round 11 that Roy threw was so fast!!! I didn't even see the uppercut at the end until the replay. Yay!
I think it's cool how everyone is rooting for the old man hahah. I did see some flashes of brilliance in the fight & was very entertained.
Good job roy!
Watching Roy do a little showboating doesn't annoy me anymore. It's actually a little....uhmm... cute?
It's kinda like that Wrestlemania when Hollywood Hulk Hogan fought the Rock & started doing his old signature moves. Though Hogan was a "bad guy," everyone started going nuts because of the nostalgia.
This fight played out EXACTLY how i envisioned it. The only surprise was how close the scores were.
Of course I bought it because there was always hope that DLH would win, & I wanted to see that happen.
haa aa
black people win again
and yall thought pavdick was good?
psh
white people lose once again
stick to thumb wars bitches
OK, CAN YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP NOW?
DUMBASS
Hard to say. If it was 15 rounds, both would probably train to build up stamina harder. Hopkins would have probably waited till round 12 to get going. Who knows.
But really, who cares?
Oh by the way... why hasn't anyone mentioned the judge who scored it 8-4 hopkins. We hear about the judge who scored it for Taylor in the 12th round, but HOW IN THE WORLD COULD HOPKINS HAVE WON 8 ROUNDS?!?!
I don't think Taylor was hurt at all. He simply got hit & then covered up. What makes you think we was hurt? His legs weren't wobbled & he went back to his jab afterwards.
I agree that you Hopkins fans are getting desperate. And if he was hurt, SO WHAT?!?! Hopkins didn't finish him off. The kid hung in there & got the W. Get over it.
You guys ever wonder why Bernard Hopkins got started so late? Do you think it's because he knows himself well enough to know that his old bones can't go at a fast pace for more than 4-5 rounds?
If he got started in the 6th round, maybe he would have ran out of gas by the 10th.
He figured he would get started late so by then, Taylor would tire himself a little. It would be pointless to go toe to toe with a younger kid only to tire yourself out in later rounds.
Just speculation.
I wanted Taylor to win & was gonna crap my pants when Hopkins started turning it on.
Read my thread about Quit making excuse and you will see my opinion
Dumbass. I'm not making excuses nor did I ask for your opinion.
I'm not saying Castillo had an advantage; I'm ASKING if he did and I'm asking for substantial intelligent backup.
Amazing how I said no dumbfuck answers and all I get are dumbfuck respones.
no because he had to weight in today also
somethign which chico didnt so chico had the advantage of getting blown up after friday weigth in and JLC had to ake weight today.
Ok, but did Castillo had to weigh in at 135 though or a larger weight?
Damn. If Mayorga didn't take that knee, he would have had a brain hemmorhage. By no means did he just quit--he was out of gas & was getting hit by many many powershots.
Tito looked very impressive, but of course Mayorga has like no defense.
Let's say that Jones was aware that he had a weak chin from the start of his career. Shouldn't he get props for figuring out a way to protect his weakness? If he had the skills to hide this weakness for 48 fights & millions of dollars before someone figured it out, he is one smart SOB.
He gets props from me.
It's like Royce Gracie (sp?) using Brazilian Jui Jitsu & kicking everyone's ass until everyone caught on. He'll probably get his ass kicked now, but will still go down as a legend.
so why exactly did tyson quit? was he too tired? was he getting hurt in the fight? or was he discouraged that he couldn't knock out mcbride in the first few rounds?
oh well... thanks for those wonderful years in the 80's mike. Bye.
