Like the heavyweight division there seems to be a changing of guard going on in the light heavyweight division. Jones and DM are out and its anyones for taking. There is also a lot of young talented fighters in this division. What is your list of the top 10 light heavyweights.
1) Tarver: earned this spot by being the second person to beat Jones.
2) Erdei: linear champ, easily outpointed Gonzalez winning 10, 10 and 9 rounds as opposed to RJJ winning 11, 11, and 10 rounds against him.
3) Briggs: undefeated Tarver mandatory and he has good power.
4) Green: only loss is a DQ and he gave Toney a run for his money, though Toney wasn't really trying.
5) Gonzalez: first to beat DM.
6) Drews: only loss was to Briggs, and Briggs only managed to win 5, 7, and 9 rounds.
7) Garay: only loss is a close loss to Erdei.
8) Johnson: beat a ruined RJJ.
9) Ulrich: retired Rocchigiani, only loss is to Johnson.
10) Veit: only loss is to Calzaghe.
And you don't think you are a hypocrite at all?
word, I'm still waitin to see how Tarver is gonna become "the new face of boxing" like he said he would be after he knocked out Roy. Son coulda fought anybody he wanted to after that fight, but he's JUST now gettin one. That made me have doubts about Antonio. For real, I wanna see him Toney. I mean, the way Toney was insultin him and Roy, how can a boxer not send an answer to that????
Thats cause Taver doesn't have any answer for Toney. By the way what did Toney say about him, I didn't hear about this.
"Stop making glen into something he isnt, Roy's speed is gone and so is his career and made glen look good"
You could have replaced the word "glen" with "tarver" and it would have been just as corect as you're original statement was.
I was just about to say the same damn thing.
Totally agree. It will be while before we see a guy with the natural gifts of Roy again (if ever). He was a once-in-a-generation type of talent, so much quickness and power that he didn't need skills to blow out even top contenders. I was glad to be able to witness it.
Yes and I am glad he is from my hometown. "Pensacola in the house."
When RJJ fought Johnson it looked like to me he was sitting on his win. I think that he was going to turn it up in the last few rounds and go for the ko. Cause if you watch it he wasn't really doing anything. Seems like he wanted to have the underdog appearance until he got on the ball.
What does drinking and refusing to kill innocent people have to do with how good a boxer is?
Innocent people? What world have you been living in buddie? Do you not know who or what the VietKong are? Go back and take History a few more times. Then you can come back and restate what you just said.
Roy Jones lost for a couple of reasons:
A.)After the Tarver fight people saw 2 things 1.)Bad Chin 2.)pressuring Jones works.
B.)Roy Jones is getting older.
C.)Roy Jones isn't quite as hungry as he once was.(rightfully so)
Should we erase Roy Jones whole career off two KO losses? No
See the truth is Antonio Tarver exposed Roy Jones Jr.'s chin and now other are capitalizing on it.
If you pressure Jones he will eventually fall, but all great careers must come to end.
Tarver didn't pressure RJJ in the second fight. RJJ was controlling the fight till the end.
actually those were the ones i would have picked too. but ruiz didn't stand a chance. don't get me wrong i'm not a ruiz fan but he was robbed by the ref. nady broke it up when ruiz got in close enough to do some damage. like hug.
Robbed by the ref? Where were you when they went over boxing rules? When did holding every 30 seconds become legal? Nady did the right thing by not letting Ruiz cheat in this fight as he as in his previous fights.
I think both fighters would have been able to make more money if they fought their manditorys, then fought each other. Tarver is in need of some money so that isn't really the best move on his part. And Johnson I think is just doing this cause this will bring him the most money he has gotten so far.
A title that meant so much to Tarver he is just going to let it go.
Tinadad-Wright looks like a great fight on paper, and it would give Wright the big fight he deserves. Something to look forward to if everything works out...
Yeah Winky needs some more big name fights. I don't know how Tito would deal with his defense.
....Yeah I agree with you and I hope we are both wrong. Would love to see Johnson kick Tarver's ass.
Yeah wouldnt mind seeing that either. I like johnson as a person much better than Tarver.
