Hamed to return in 2005!
By Craig Watt
Former WBO and IBF Featherweight Champion Prince Naseem Hamed has told BBC Sport that he will make a return to the ring in early 2005. Commenting on the success of British Olympian Amir Khan at the Athens games he confirmed, "I am still fresh and still got the hunger to come back and do what I want to do. So in early 2005 you will see me back in a ring." Hamed is now 30 years of age and there has been much speculation as to whether he would return to the ring following his last fight back in May 2002 when he defeated Spaniard Manuel Calvo on points in London. The Prince was certainly one of the top UK fighters in the last decade and he has just one defeat against Marco Antonio Barrera in April 2001 in his impressive record of 36-1 (31 kos). Hamed's intended return will draw much attention in the 126 pound division both sides of the Atlantic.
Good day for the Brits. But he'll have to do some serious training to get back to 126.
This may sound far-fetched or even dumb, but when Hamed just fell out of the scene. I really thought that the networks or some other powerful force(s) was behind or a major reason for the " Prince's" sudden exit from the only profession he had the opportunity to make millions of dollars. Reason being is because of his militant and brash way he carried his "muslimness". Does this make sense to any of y'all. Especially when he did as part of his entrance for the Barerra fight when he did a speech in arabic talking about ALLAH, in how the muslim god is the only true god. Anyhow I hope he does make a comeback it'll put the fun back in boxing and also more money for his "ARROGANTNESS" in a way I feel like Hamed is a rip-off, cause he seems to be the type to not give a f**k about his performance as long as the dough keeps coming in. If Hamed does make a comeback I can already tell ya who he will and will not fight as far as top contenders and champions in the 126lb. division. He will definitely be willing to fight Pacquaio, Barrera, and Chi. I think Marquez maybe an if more like no and I don't think he'll wanna mix it up w/ Morales. I'd like to see him in with Raheem see how he deals w/ the kid's speed. He'll probably k.o. Raheem since "The Dream" ain't got no chin. Remember guys Hamed doesn't give a rat's ass about his legacy or glory its about an easy payday for him. The only way he'll mop the deck w/ some of these guys is if he sees 'em on the downside.
Far fetched, yes. Dumb.........yes.
only when he gets back to training and his
comeback fight is pencilled in will i
believe hes gonna do it..i hope he does.
love to see all the top fw's destroy him :D
Hameds is 30 years of age. That is pretty old for a prize-fighter who's success is primarily based on speed and reflexes/ We're gonna see exactly what happened to RJJ happen to Hamed. Provided he fights an opponent of resonable quality.
Well if he is serious, should be exciting as there is some very intriging and fucking exciting fights that could happen. hamed could fight any of these fighters.....morales, barrera, pacquiao, marquez, harrison, chi, larios, casamayor, nanthachai, joan guzman!!! that depends on what wait he comes in at!! could be exciting to see him lose again!!
