1. julio cesar chavez losing to frankie randall in fight one
2. marco antonio barrera losing to manny pacquiao
3. felix trinidad losing to bernard hopkins
The biggest miscarriage in boxing was and always will be Taylor vs Chavez. This lose towers over ALL others .............
This is true! I posted about my biggest disappointment, but didnt think about poor Taylor and how wrong that whole ordeal was.. :( and he has to live with the results the rest of his life; very sad
Post Hearns Duran...
Everlast, what you wrote is what I felt. The "No mas" and the destruction at the hands of Thomas Hearns were hard to take and understand. Those loses were devastating for a Duran fan.
However, those two terrible Duran loses did make the stunning victories over Moore and Barkley two of the most memorable sports nights in my life. Without the bad ("No mas" and Hearns) we wouldn't appreciate the spectacular (Moore and Barkley) as much.
Hey No Mas,
I agree. The Barkley fight is one of my all time favorites. Nobody gave Roberto a chance in that one. I thought Roberto beat Paz the first time around. Duran looked very lethargic in the return match. I just re-watched Duran-Camacho I the other night. NO WAY Roberto lost that fight !!! That to me was probably the last time Roberto looked good in the ring.
2 Losses have upset and possibly tramatized me the most are:
1)Muhammad Ali losing, and getting brutally beaten by Larry
Holmes
2)Just when you thought Mike Tyson was back on track, he gets
knocked out by Danny Williams. ( anybody else notice in almost
all Tysons losses he manages to get knocked out, just once would
I like to see him go the distance and lose by decision)
The Thrilla in Manilla when Frazier didn't answer the bell. That shyt crushed me.
Ima big Frazier fan, so his losses to Foreman were bad too, but not as bad as the Thirlla in Manilla.
Another loss is when Evander lost to Bowe in that great fight.
Umm....when Ali beats foreman in Rumble in the Jungle. I didn't feel like everyone else, who thought it was a fairy-tale.
Tyson to Douglas is another one, when mike tries to pick up his mouth-guard and continue, but cant.
And when Tyson lost to Lennox Lewis. Alotta people clown tyson when he says "I can't do it" to his trainer. But that shyt killed me, just like the thrilla in manilla. He was like my idol, I based my whole fighting style on him and frazier. And when mike quit like that......
Re: Duran
Roberto Duran WAS my idol.
Everlast, what you wrote is what I felt. The "No mas" and the destruction at the hands of Thomas Hearns were hard to take and understand. Those loses were devastating for a Duran fan.

Sanders to Klitchko. What would have been more satisfying than watching Vitali, the so called best Heavyweight in the world, get knocked around by an out of shape old dude.
Hearns-Duran !!!
Roberto Duran WAS my idol. When he whipped Leonard in Montreal, well... That goes right up there in the important date column with the birth of my kids and March 8, 1971 when Joe whipped Ali's ass.
With that said, you can fully understand my disappointment when Roberto said "No Mas" during Leonard-Duran II. Still there was this feeling that it wasn't a complete victory for Leonard. Who knows what was going on in Roberto's head when he uttered those now famous words ? It left the door open for a rubber match that would take place years later.
It was so different when Hearns nearly tore Roberto's head off. Up to this fight only the great Esteban DeJesus had put Duran on floor. Tommy CREAMED him. It was unbelieveable. To see Roberto flat on his stomach at the feet of the towering Hearns was humbling to Roberto and his fans. Roberto had just gone fifteen tough rounds with Marvin Hagler. Who would have thought that Roberto would be so easily dispatched. They didn't call Thomas Hearns the "Hit Man" for nothing.
I don't recall Roberto ever pushing hard for a return match with Tommy !
ya
