Tarver remains the champ. Good for him, I have no problem with that,he is a good fighter.
One thing needs to be said though . . .
Roy Jones Jr. is still one of the BEST fighters EVER in Boxing history. This fight did not tarnish his legendary status what-so-ever. The fighter we've been watching the last 3 fights is merely Roy Jones Jr's shell. So nobody should be second guessing Roy, or his reign. :boxing:
Taylor won.... but I was suprised.
Very seldom will you see a challenger win if its a close fight and the champ has won the last few rounds, which I think Hopkins clearly did.
Both are great fighters, but IMO, it should have been a draw. :boxing:
Taylor won the fist half of the fight and Hopkins won the second half.
IMO, if the fight is close to even and you won almost every round 7-12, you're the reigning champ and you didn't get knocked down, you don't deserve to lose. Winning the second half of a fight is more valuable than winning the first half, it means more.
I had the fight a draw. :boxing:
To say Hopkins deserved the win just because he dominated he last few round would imply that the first seven rounds meant nothing, which in boxing they mean quite alot. Go stick your head in the sand hopkins boy.
My point is that you just can not give the fight to Taylor. The champ always gets the advantage when it's a close fight and he wasn't even close to getting knocked out. Hopkins had Taylor on his heels for the final 4 rounds. Hopkins will get his rematch and hopefully he will show up the entire fight next around.
Oh, and I'm not "a Hopkins Boy". I like both fighters. :boxing:
This is tough, but until someone proves othewise, Hopkins is still king of this weight class so I can't bet aginst him.
I think Hopkins is getting up there and Taylor will be great for years to come...
I give the edge to the crafty veteran...though not by much. :boxing:

I voted for a decent contender.
I don't think he is ready for any of the real, accomplished heavyweights out there. He does seem to have a lot of power, but is rough around the edges. Big,wild punches & ugly jab IMO. But he is still young, those problems can be fixed.
I would like to see him fight a top ten opponent,in about a year and see where he is at then. :boxing:
It's not even real baseball. It's that college crap with the aluminum bats that go PING when someone hits the ball :damnit:
HAHAHA! I love Baseball, but to show "college" baseball over Boxing is Blasphemy! :boxing:
A career that began with greatness, only to spiral out of control and finally end in desperation and sadness.
So long Mike,I will remember him for the champion he once was and not what he has become these last few years.
I wish him my best. Hopefully he can finally put to rest all those demons, once and for all.
Uh, no, I won't keep out of it, seeing as how Tyson chose to make a public spectacle of his life. He chose to be an absolute fucking slimeball, and I'll judge the prick accordingly.
Internet tough guys, don't you love em. I bet on the street you would not be moving your fucking mouth like you are doing on this thread.
If you don't like Tyson Fine, good for you. Don't post on this thread asshole!
Fuck you and your opinions you pussy ass Bitch! People like you NEED the internet,to talk shit, because if you ever met me in person,I guarantee I would make you my bitch!
....All I know is that Tupac looks like a total flaming homo in that pic. He looks like he is puckering his lips to give a good blow. Never understood the doo rag look. Since when was looking like a skinny aunt Jamima an in thing to do? I loved Deion but never understood the doo doo rag.
Deion is the man!
This really surprised me....IMO,Tyson's camp set him up with a seemingly easy fight to get him back in title & big-money contention and he just sits in the corner and quits....UNBELIEVABLE.
Sadly, heavyweight boxing just sucks right now (and has for quite a bit)...luckily for the sport, some of the other divisions are pretty awesome right now! :boxing:
I think Tyson is laying down in these fights. He could be the Pete Rose of boxing. Maybe he's taking these fights, then putting cash down on the underdog. The past couple of years has been all about money, not boxing.
Next to Ali,Tyson was the best boxer I have ever seen. When Cus D'Amato died, Tyson died with him,Tyson was done.
Deaths of his mother Lorna, his sister Denise, his guardian D'Amato and his first manager Jimmy Jacobs all had a profound impact on him.
I don't agree with everything he has said and done,he brought it all upon himself, that being said,he is still one my all-time fav fighters behind only to Ali.
As one of his "few" fans,I really, really hope he retires, the circus has gone on long enough. :(
Tyson died with Cus? Cus D'amato died in 1985, that was before Tyson won any of his three title belts. I'm sure if Cus were still around Tyson would have been undefeated all through his career. If he died with anyone it was his manager Jim Jacobs, Tyson went down hill after that along with firing Kevin Rooney. You can thank Don King for that.
Good point....Tyson was one of my favs,it's sad to see how everthing turned out for him.
There is NO LEGIT HEAVYWEIGHT FIGHTER out there these days... boxing needs a young fighter like Tyson WAS when he first came to the sport... No excitement anymore!!!
