I just saw the fight with the sound turned off and had it exactly, 115-113 for Hopkins.I thought some of the early rounds where giving to Taylor for being aggresive yet he didnt land most of those punches.
espn had two even rounds in a 116-114 taylor. hopkins got the 12 round of course.
if one of the judges had't of given the 12 round to taylor it would of been a draw. i would of scored a little stash in vBookie.
with 3 even rounds i had it 116-115 taylor.
hopkins got to taylor making taylor throw more glancing blows with rage.
i'm suprised the inexperiance taylor didn't loose it when he seen his own blood after headbutt. that would of shrunk the confidents of even more expirienced boxers.
taylor stood up to him.
in the post fight taylor was already anylizing what he did wrong in the fight. man this guys for real.
cant wait for the rematch..taylor does it easier second time around.
all i can say is: exactly!
He needed to fight his normal style... i didnt see him double/triple/quadripple up on his jabs like he normally does...
Usually he circles his opponent jabbing them 2 3 4 consecutive times... in the second fight he'll unleash his jab from the starting bell.

THANK YOU!!!!
Rematch: If Taylor doesn't waist as much energy as he did in the first fight taylor should win this one too. NOONE can take what Taylor did to Hopkins tonight. I don't undersatnd the controversy??
I taped it so Ima rewatch it again tomororw. But when I saw it LIVE, Taylor never hurted Hopkins, except maybe a punch that landed in the 2nd round that made Hopkins went back a little bit. But Hopkins punished Taylor in rounds 10, 11, and 12.
And that's about it!!! 10,11...Taylor won!!!
Hopkins lost the first four rounds. He did nothing. Taylor was the only one TRYING to do something, and he was very effective in spurts, whereas Hops was not effective at all.
Hopkins can do all the damage he wants late in the fight, and give Taylor brain damage, but that won't change the scores of the rounds early in the fight.
116-113 for Taylor.
Could you try a little harder to sound like your opinion is fact?
This is fairly split in opinion. Don't ack like your take on the scoring is gospel.
hmm

As for a rematch...how is Hopkins going to emphatically beat Taylor. Hopkins is only going to be older, and Taylor will now have the benefit of a 12 round fight with Bernard Hopkins. Do you think Hopkins will pick up the pace? If he was confident in his old age with his ability to sustain the pace needed to beat a young guy like Taylor decisively, he would have done it tonight, and he didn't.
Taylor won the fist half of the fight and Hopkins won the second half.
IMO, if the fight is close to even and you won almost every round 7-12, you're the reigning champ and you didn't get knocked down, you don't deserve to lose. Winning the second half of a fight is more valuable than winning the first half, it means more.
I had the fight a draw. :boxing:
Hopkins should have started his assault earlier. If he would have done this he probably would have KO'd Taylor. Hopkins just didn't think Taylor would have enough in his tank to survive the final rounds and Taylor proved him wrong. I don't think he'll make the same mistake twice though.

i think this was a case
of them deciding that someone had to win a round
couple them rounds shoulda been scored even
hopkins goin back to much, not doin much
taylor comin forward but also not doin much

The funny thing is that the crowd was cheering for Hopkins later on... but all the commentators talked about is Hopkin's inability to start early... i seriously thought after 4 that taylor would damage Hopkins with his jab / handspeed / quick pace... but it was sort of a let down ... all Taylor did in the late rounds was flurry to the body... while hopkins was tagging him with that right hand...
I had it even after 10, but there were a few where I think they could have been even or gone the otherway. I didn't have Taylor sweeping as many rounds early as HBO and Ledderman did. I thought Taylor was missing more than they were mentioning. Bernard was slipping and catching the few jabs Taylor was throwing, and Hopkins counters (while few and far between) were better quality shots than what Taylor was landing, and it tipped a few rounds in his favor IMO. Remeber that good defense plays a role in the scoring of tight rounds, and I thought Hopkins was very good with the counters and slipping and catching shots.
Not an outragous score by any means, I just saw it the other way.
I am exicited to see a rematch.
