I just dont see the big deal about him at heavy..He beat a 74 year old and a slow bum in Ruiz....He hasnt beat no one who is a real threat to him.....He hasnt face a power puncher in this division.. People Actually think this lil 5'9 midget will beat Vitali?? 6'7.........Tell me how?? Tell me how he would hit Klit enough to beat him?? And Toney couldnt Hurt Ruiz with all those Right hands what makes u think he would hurt Brewster or Peter...IMO Both of them would walk right through him...The only Toney is the true WBA champ cuz Ruiz suck but the only other title holder i can see Toney beating is Byrd only cuz he dont got power..and he will box...but other than that he will never become undisputed champ... :boxing:
Exactly right. Also he is so relaxed in there (which of course is why he is so fresh after 12 rounds) and his defense is the best bar none.
Of course... God Bless steroids
he has actual skills...and can fight a 12 round fight with the same conviction and effectiveness as the first...

I think Toney should prove himself against against a top-contender before being given a title shot again because he cheated with the steroids. You guys can argue all you want on the steroids' effectiveness, but the bottom line is; no one knows if the roids helped Toney or not except James himself, and he's not gonna tell anyone if they infact did help him.
I would like to see Toney beat someone like a Danny Williams, Shannon Briggs, Calvin Brock, Sam Peters, Oleg Maskaev, or Monte Barrett before getting another title shot. What happened to the concept of earning a title shot? Clearly IMO, Toney has not.
I believe that. He keeps spew out the mouth how good he is and how he can beat everyone in the division. It might be true but he does have to prove himself and has to go up the ladder. I hear all the time how he talks about him(Toney) not getting any respect and the industry not recognizing his talent. He needs one or two good fights against top or decent(kinda of ironic) competetion since his Ruiz performance was tainted with drugs even if they didn't give him any benefits. Steroids is so taboo these days.

Toney's success at Heavyweight is a combination of him having actual boxing skill and the horrible quality of heavyweights out there today.
If Toney had been Heavyweight during the era he was a Middleweight you would NEVER have heard of the guy.
His boxing skills carry him with all these bums and cowards. The guys that fight him have every advantage in size and strength but Toney makes fools of them. The only guys big enough to give him ANY kind of trouble at all, spemd more time in court trying to have belts given to them than they do in the gym and would never face a real fighter like Toney.
Your full of shit, Wlad Klitschko is only trying to get whats his, how can he be ranked lower then Williamson whn he beat him, tell me that u idiot? How many times had Wlad called out Byrd tell me??? So shut the hell up u pieace of shit...
It is true for a man who can be grossly out of shape his stamina is crazy. (keep the steroid comments to yourself)
Also I would like to add, Toney has the best uppercut in the business. Nobody can compare or even come close to Toney's uppercut.
u talkin bout the right uppercut
Now that I'm at work and have a bit more time for this... I just posted the below in another thread, here it is again who argued earlier:
Man... Most of you know shit about Steroids.. :bottle:
I have a few friends who are body builders.. and I have some knowledge I would like to share with you.
Some Side Affects are:
1) Kidney/ Liver Failure. As a sign you piss blood.
2) Irregular heart beat, which can result in a heart attack, or a stroke
3) You can develop irregular size organs, which can pretty much just fuck you up all together.
4) Hormonal Imbalance
Some Signs of steroids usage are:
1) Acne!! People get those kinda pimples on their back/shoulders.. looks like a rash..
2) Reddish skin
3) Steroids increase your body hair growth (due to hormonal imbalance).. But if a person is just plain hairy, that does not mean he is on steroids.
4) Crazy mood swings, again due to hormonal imbalance
Most important thing is that most of you think that if someone is on steroids they should be build. THAT IS NOT TRUE AT ALL!
1) Steroids can be used for body building, that is if you work out
2) In sports steroids are used for:
a) Endurance
b) Strength / Power
1 - Marathon runners, bicyclists, swimmers that take steroids don't look all that buffed, do they? The take steroids for ENDURANCE...
It allows you to take more oxygen in your blood which makes you last longer.
2 - Weight lifters (not body builders) take steroids for STRENGTH and POWER
So this nonsense that "Steroids don't give you power" is pure bullshit
Yea. saying that toney fought like a monster for 12 rounds is ridiculous. all toney did was roll when ruiz threw the jab and threw a right hand counter over the top. he didn't go all out in agression for any roundAnd I see that Moron Bozo keeps responding to my posts..
Dumb ass, get the point.. YOU'RE ON IGNORE!
Anyway 2NdRoUnDkO,
I did not imply that Toney fought like Hatton.. I meant that throughout the 12 rounds, Toney showed no signs of fatigue.. I don't see this being an issue for someone under 160lb, but for Toney who came in at 233.. heaviest he has ever been... I think it's kind of odd.
Until he's off the roids, we really don't know how Toney performs at Heavy. Even with roids, Toney showed very little against Ruiz that suggests he's a real threat at Heavy, especially against big guys who can establish an outside fight (i.e., not Ruiz).
Regarding the roids, Toney was not experimenting. He realized the benefits very early on. He felt ferocious, made weight easy and he knew he could now "perform" for 12 rounds if necessary.
I expect that Toney without roids will not be motivated, especially when he realizes he no longer has the energy to lift his own bloated arms.
Well this was already discussed ,chewed and pit out and I don't want to open a new can of worms...
Anyhow, there are different types of steroids, once you take for body building, and once that athletes take for endurance. Also if you don't burn (work out) you gain FAT like crazy...
I'm not saying Toney can't beat Ruiz, I'm sure he can beat him 10 out of 10 times.. What I'm saying is that Toney kept going like a monster for full 12 rounds w/o showing any sign of fatigue and perhaps it was the cause of the 'roids.
To answer your question "Besides when was the last time you saw Taney not able to make 12 rounds" why don't you answer mine.. When was the last time you saw Toney fight at 233?
What??? He wasn't going like a monster for 12 rounds. Maybe in the Jirov fight yeah, but not against Ruiz. To imply that the roids had anything to do with his win is asinine. James Toney could fight for 20 rounds on a whim. I don't think you know what you're talking about....if you think they helped his stamina then you really don't know James Toney.
toney can win at heavy for the same reason as byrd, they're both skilled boxers... but byrd's struggling with any marginaly talented heavyweight right now... i'd like to see toney against some more top guys to see how he does, but i'd take toney over rahman, mccline, TOS... i'm not sure about byrd, brock or brewster...
More GARBAGE from this idiot.
Toney was 'going like a monster'?
What fight were you watching?
Toney fought at a very measured pace, throwing only when he had to, and waiting to counter.
The notion that he fought at a torrid pace is laughable.
He wasn't on preformance enhancers, it was a substance that his body produces naturally while on certian meds, and IF someone is taking it as a preformance enhancer, it's a GAINER. IE to GAIN mussle.
He was out of shape and soft, and still clearly used his ring savvy, countering skills, and defense to beat Ruiz very systematiclly at a slow and methodical pace over 12 rounds.

You would think it would but everyone right now is looking for someone to spark a fire in the HW div. Everyone knows Tyson was done after the Lewis fight but people are still intrested in seeing him b/c he is one of the only HW fighters that can actually show us some excitement in the division.
Becasue of the sad state the HW div. is in now.
O trust me I understand that but if beating a unmotivated out of his prime mike tyson makes him a contender wouldnt you think the man handling that he recieved from vitali klitschko would cross out that rise to contender and drop him back to the average fighter he is.
