Wlad will have to hold onto his champion status until approximately January/February 2018 to break Louis' record of total time as champ, and also has to make 9 defenses in that time in order to break the total defenses record number. If Wlad manages 3 fights this year (April//August or September/December) and continues that schedule in 2016 and 2017, he will be able to break both records, add some good names to his resume if he beats upcoming talents like Wilder/Fury...maybe another Povetkin fight, Joshua... If he could end his career like that, he could possibly decide to retire at the start of 2018 and give a fresh start to the heavyweight division from the start of 2018 onwards. I doubt it will happen like that though.

I won't repeat other people's points, a lot of which has already been mentioned. But, an idea I would pitch would be for the top contenders to avoid really long lay-offs. There have been several times where it seems like a reasonable contender gets an injury or gets into some promoter dispute or whatever it is, and lose their buzz and don't fulfil their (potential) promise. Also, leading on from this a bit more generally, I'd like the champs to possibly fight more often, and in general big fights more often - think of it this way, long periods between fights allows the division and fighters to be ridiculed if it's a bad performance, and if it's a short night KO, then some aren't satisfied with a lack of action.

I swear you could do unlimited low blows in Round 3 to win when it felt too hard on the harder difficulties? :lol1: Round 4 was pretty good, can't even remember too much of it though as I borrowed off a friend for a time but Champion is good, I still play it on occasion... I do think they could have got some better rosters and change a few things, but overall its good... :boxing:

It depends on level of competition I think.. Had someone gone thru everyone and never lost, and best other great fighters, then hey he could be number 1.. Had Tyson beaten buster and then Holyfield and then ruddock,, I would have no problem putting him at 1, even over pernell or Chavez.. If vitali did quit vs Byrd and scored the Lennox defeat, and had beaten peter, byrd, haye, adamek, povetkin, sultan, and reigned for a longtime and never took those years off, I think he would have a case for p4p 1 Check my edit to that post where I added a little bit to the bottom - IMO that's probably the only way to do it for people to not complain or struggle to make cases for modern heavies.

to actually answer your question, it's impossible to forecast anything out that far in boxing. historically, the high earners have come at HW. today, and in the recent past, they've often fought from 147 to 175. think de la hoya through roy jones size. big LW are usually just WW in training. anything below 135 generally sucks, with a couple greats coming along in the same era and making for exciting fights once in a blue moon. the fighters leave the divisions so quickly, and peak so early in life. they can't hit hard enough to keep the layman excited, either. Good points, BUT - although it may be impossible to predict with certainty, you could still make educated guesses by looking at guys around now who aren't yet at their peak or prime, or could achieve better things without those top guys like Floyd being generally unbeatable by them at present. It is tough though, I guess people should think if they could forecast in 2004 who would be at the top of the divisions and which fighters and divisions would be best from 2010 onwards.

You make some logical points, appreciate your input.. I just wanna say about rigo and wlad... Rigo isn't going to get beat by some dude that basically just jabs from the outside.... Rigo would counter the hell out of him and carve him up... That's why I rank rigo higher Hmm, true, but this is why the whole P4P debate is so hard to truly establish. I don't think it's purely about just using skillset and switching a guys whole body dimensions. Obviously, fighting styles will be different...everything is different. P4P is a bit of a flawed concept sometimes IMO, it just seems to be calculated based on who is the most impressive fighter at the time in terms of record, longevity, and maybe resume in boxing, regardless of how they actually compare to anyone else of different weight. Funny question could be - let's say Wlad didn't lose his fights and was something like 63-0 undefeated HW champ - could he be P4P 1? Would Marciano be a P4P 1 if in this era? (If he had similar ATG competition or guys on resume like Louis) Maybe boxing just needs a heavyweight champ at the top of the tree, and have P4P as a concept for all weight classes under this, where you need more skill than physical traits or dimensions.

somewhere between 147-175 (almost always is). its called middleweight for a reason, its the average size of a man, hence there are more men that size and more competition than there are in other divisions. how many guys you know who weigh under 120lbs? its rare, the competition doesnt get as tough and the quality suffers. same thing applies even more when you go above 175, because now you are not only dealing with less athletes but the ones you got are mainly going to other sports that from the athletes point of view provides better oppertunities (college, better odds at making it etc). im gonna take a shot in the dark and say 154. seems a lot of these new weight classes have been getting more love lately instead of being overlooked. also 154 is one of my favorite divisions historically considering hearns, mccallum and jackson, three of my four favorite fighters all fought at 154 and had some of their greatest triumphs there. Right now, yes. Floyd, Pac and Wlad are IMO the top 3 P4P RIGHT NOW as they are the most proven, consistent, and dominant fighters over the longest period of time. Floyd's there for obvious reasons. Manny beat a high ranked P4P fighter (in reality twice, and was probably on his way to a win over JMM) so could have been undefeated for what - 10 years? Just as Wlad is now. Wlad has been the dominant force and has cleaned out his division. Very rarely is there going to be a heavyweight with everything...that's like saying Tyson had no outside game - clearly certain fighters will have certain strengths, weaknesses and fighting styles. Now, I'm not a fan particularly of Wlad's lack of inside fighting, but it works for him the way he fights, he wins...so good for him. Right now Ward is too inactive, and Rigo - important for this discussion, is right now too unproven to be above Wlad. At about 15-20 fights, with a few more signature wins, he probably can be put above Wlad. But this is all just my opinion, take it as you wish.

As of this moment I would say Welterweight or Heavyweight, based on current active fighters. I guess that's a safe bet. :boxing:

Why is his head so huge? Steroids? Just a strange looking guy all round...has a 6 pack with a whole lot of flab too, huge head with no neck (although that may just be this pic stressing that). But yeah, he does look like a roided up dirty-bulked bodybuilder more than a boxer.

Ruslan P vs Bradley was a good recent one, pretty violent considering some of the combinations and punishment handed out by both men, and the self-confessed effects on Bradley for months after the fight.
